The secretaries on the top floor who were responsible for receiving calls, ushering top guests, monitoring the progress of the workers, and basically assistants of the President and CEO were busy with the heavy workload they had to deal with were momentarily distracted by the sound of the boss's private elevator.
If it were to be the normal elevator which they used to access the other floors, they wouldn't have been surprised, but it was for the CEO, strictly for him and the vice president. They wondered who had the guts to use the elevator, 'get ready for trouble!', 'this staff is definitely toast', were the words that went through the minds of some of the secretaries.
They were shocked to see Mrs Walton, they finally sighed in peace, it wasn't that she couldn't use the private elevator, it was just that she wasn't expected at the office that day. The secretaries, not wanting to be on her bad side greeted her, being the down to earth person she was, she replied them with a genuine smile plastered on her face.
The gesture caused Craig who was stationed at the office beside the boss to curse in his mind on what the matter was. 'The boss would be very angry!', he thought standing up quickly to settle the ruckus so as not to anger the boss.
He was caught off guard to see Mrs Walton walking towards his direction, "uhm, good afternoon ma, welcome ma'am, can I help you?", Craig asked in a respectful tone, because angering Mrs Walton equals angering the boss.
" I came by to offer my son launch and apologize for what happened earlier, is he free?", she asked moving closer to his door, Craig tried his best to stop her from entering the office, "ma'am, he's presently busy, ma'am please lets not disturb his call, ma'am wait!!", Craig whisper shouted. " He's always busy!", Mrs Walton said in the same tone before she entered the room.
Lucas was in the middle of going over the details of the seminar with his brother when his mom walked in. He bent his head and closed his eyes before sighing, as if mentally preparing himself for the nagging that was to follow. He concluded the unfinished meeting with his brother, Martin, but not before their mother had her conversation with him, shooing Lucas from his seat.
Mrs Walton offered the Lunch she brought for him as the peace offering before going into the details of her visit. First, she talked about how sorry she was that she set him up on a date, and then after she made Lucas forgive her she tried to get him on another date.
Lucas somehow managed to avoid the topic so he could go back to his already piled work. When his mother left, he called Martin again, who he told about the details of her nagging. Martin felt bad for his brother because he knew he had been getting offers from his mother since he was twenty six, his present age. He thought it had become some tradition with their mother, for her to choose that specific age, because she had started telling him about the single ladies his sister's age.
After Prisca put word out to Nico that Audrey needed a job that paid good money even if the workers didn't have a salary, Nico started searching till he got the one which he thought would be ideal for Audrey.
He informed Prisca about the job offer and she wasted no time to tell Audrey, "ahhhhh!!", prisca suddenly screamed after the sound of a notification was heard from her phone. The ladies had just worked a usual late night because it was a Friday, and they were getting ready to have a good night's rest when Prisca got the notification.
" There's a slot!", Prisca squealed in excitement, "slot?..., what slot are you talking about?", Audrey asked confused, Prisca brought her left hand to the middle of her forehead, shaking her head jokingly in disappointment.
" The job you asked me to ask Nico about, he found one!", "Really!, he did?", Audrey asked just to be sure she wasnt dreaming. " yes girl, you were right on time, it's like you predicted how the search was to turn out!", Prisca said hoisting her hair up to be packed in a messy bun.
"What, what do you mean?", Audrey asked confused again, " the interview is on Monday", "Monday, what, like Monday, in like one, two, three days?", Audrey asked closing one finger as she counted. "Of course!", " But, but, I don't have any clothes to wear, nor am I prepared to answer any questions!", Audrey said already freaking out.
"Relax okay, Nico said it's an assistant job at Walton Globals, and it's not really a hard interview", Prisca said, it still wasn't enough to calm Audrey. However, after some calming words, Audrey finally realized she didn't need to do much for the interview.
" Get to sleep girls!!", Lizzy screamed from her room after she couldn't take the noise the girls were making as she was tired and feeling really sleepy. Startled by the sudden disruption of their serious conversation turned gossip, Audrey quickly scrambled to her room, Prisca rolling the comforter like nothing happened.
The weekend passed so fast, and Audrey felt like time was too fast. During the weekend, Prisca had accompanied Audrey to get office clothes, shoes and accessories. It was a funny experience for Prisca as she laughed hysterically seeing the clothes Audrey put together and how it looked so bland, being the most fashionable of the two, Prisca gladly swooped in and saved Audrey from her self made disaster.
Monday morning finally came and Audrey woke up really nervous, she barely even slept as her mind became more tuned to the sound of the clock in her room. After having her bath and wearing her underwear, Audrey felt like she was going to make a joke out of herself, so she rushed to get Prisca from her room.
Prisca who slept with reckless abandon was very unhappy after Audrey successfully woke her up. She saw Audrey was indeed in a dilemma, so she gave Audrey a full makeover, nothing too much, just befitting for the office.
