Chapter 10 - CHAPTER 10

It was Saturday morning and Shaun couldn't get to sleep because he was excited about Jane coming over. He tossed until 10 and went downstairs.

His elegant mother was preparing breakfast beautifully.

"Good morning." She said in a happy tone.

"Morning." He sat down and started eating. "Mom, a friend of mine is coming later."

"A friend?" his mother's face hardened. She was always sad that her son has to live lonely life to hide his true identity. But she couldn't happily accept anyone to her son's life.

"Yeah. A friend."

"Great. I have plans too. I know you will but be careful, Shaun."

He felt extreme anxiety from his mother. He knows wolves sense fear but it was the first time he sensed an emotion. He sent out his hand and grabbed his mom's. She looked at him and calmed down at once it was weird feeling as if him casted a spell.

After few hours Shaun heard a car coming from miles away and he hurried out to wait outside the door. Jane saw him standing which was very surprising. She went out after turning off her engine.

"How long have you been waiting here? Was I very late?"

"No, I heard you coming and …" he realized he was talking nonsense judging from her expression. "I was just checking out. Let's go in."

As anyone's reaction would be the first step in the house mesmerized Jane. She toured the house for almost 30 minutes.

"Well I feel a bit snob only to ask now, but didn't you say you lived with your mom?"

"She has plans, she will not be back anytime soon."

It was almost night, with Jane it was joyful evening for the first time in forever that he didn't realize how much time passed.

"Do you want to have dinner here?" Shaun asked James.

"If you are making it." she answered thinking there is no way he knows how to cook.

"I am a great cook, let's go down." He left her dazed.

"What do you like?"

"Anything with meat." She answered simply.

While he was fixing something she went on her own adventure of exploring the house. She was curious about one door and she opened it and went in. She discovered the haven for books. Shelf by shelf, shelf over shelf from there wasn't a genre of book that was absent. Some of the books seemed to be from decades ago not to mention the art works and antique objects displayed. The splendor of the massive library reminded her of a museum. She was lost in the books and forgot about dinner.

Shaun entered the room quietly and sat behind her. Without noticing him she sat for minutes. But soon he wanted attention so he cleared his throat to announce himself.

"Ah, sorry. I came in without permission."

"It's okay. Have you found something you like?"

"This place is full of everything I like. How did you collect all of this?"

"My mom. She is a writer and she likes collecting books."

"This is amazing. But why are they so many books on werewolves?"

Shaun panicked at her question, "Well, I love reading ancient mythology books as a hobby."

"Why would you think werewolves are mythology? That's not the mindset these books deserve."

"Do you really believe that werewolves exist then?" he couldn't believe that someone is convincing him to believe in werewolves.

"Well I believe that they wouldn't write without reference on truth."

He was very happy and satisfied by her answer on the other hand he was hopeful about their future.

"You can read that at home."

He heard footsteps of his mom outside the door.

"Shall we go out now?"

"Yeah sure." They went out to the kitchen to find his mother was standing there.

"Mom this is Jane, Jane mom." He made simple introduction amidst awkward moment.

"Nice to meet you, Ms. Parker." Jane politely said hi.

"Hi, Jane. You can just call me Linda." His mother was omitting amazing charisma that day.

"I will be in my room." Linda tried to excuse herself.

"No. I was just leaving, it is getting late." Jane was in hurry after she realized the time.

"You needn't have to drive me home." Jane said to Shaun as they were almost near her house.

"I should or else that would make me a scumbag."

"Trust me, you wouldn't have been. You don't have a scumbag image in you."

They got out of the car and both of them felt something lacking.

"Do you want to have a drink?" Jane brought it up at last.

"Great." With Shaun's fast response they both went to a near bar and ordered a drink.

"Let's just have this and get out. My parents could be waiting or maybe James." Jane likes to drink but she likes it at a comfortable place like her house or with Selina.

"I agree. Alcohol should be only taken to the level that makes you feel good. No more no less."

Shaun was courteous and well behaved for his age.

"It have been forever since the last time I went out on a date." Jane talked feeling nostalgic. "How about you?" she asked him without expecting much of an answer.

"I have never dated before. Is this considering dating?" she was taken aback by his answer.

"I think we should get going." She finished her drink and left the bar.

After walking for some time without any conversation she suddenly stopped walking and got closer to him. Shaun took a step back by her sudden actions.

"I like you." Her sudden confession made his heart sink down. He just stared at her. "What about you, Shaun?" she asked him.

"I have liked you first. I have liked you since the first time I saw you." Shaun gave her a bold answer and hugged her tightly.

He walked her home holding hands.

"See you tomorrow. Bye." She was very shy and run into her house. Shaun thought she was very cute.
