Shaun couldn't get Jane out of his mind how is her reaction like that. She knows I am a werewolf how can she not runaway. And where the hell is mom? Is she really gone a trip? Countless thoughts kept him accompanied on the lonely an sleepless night. He got up from his bed with heavy heart. He used to enjoy solitude but now that he is alone in the big house he felt so lonely. Moreover what he couldn't understand was his nature as a wolf. Wolfs tend to seek a pack but before he had his mother so he never felt this lonely. He was a lone wolf now.
He changed his clothes and went out. Outside the house stood Jane waiting for him.
"What are you doing here?" He smiled very happily.
"I came here to eat breakfast. I am starving, do you have something to eat?" she pushed her way to the house.
She prepared him a burnt toast with Jam and banana on the side. He could observe that she was not a very good cook.
"Do you want me to make something?" Shaun offered to help her in his own house.
"Please sit and wait for a second." She sounded like a staff working in a café.
She joined him after brewing coffee. She was trying to look down not to meet his eyes.
"Don't say anything." She suddenly stopped him when he was about to speak.
"Say what?" he was laughing.
"I know that you have that annoying teasing expression on. But I won't accept any comments on my cooking skills." She was very embarrassed watching the black colored toast on the table.
"I know you came all the way here looking out for me. Your presence makes everything around me seem okay. Can I try this one?" he started eating after stirring up strange emotions in Jane's heart.
They ate breakfast and went out. Jane suddenly looked at him.
"Do you want to walk from here?"
"What?" Shaun was surprised by what she said.
"I have about a million questions to and class starts late. So let's walk." She dragged him holding his hand.
They started walking hand in hand. Shaun couldn't still believe that Jane was still with him even though she found out.
"What is that you wanted to ask? I will try to answer as fast as I can until we reach the campus." Shaun was ready to answer.
"I will try to cut you some slack since today is the first day. How did you became a werewolf in the first place?" Jane started her parade of question.
"My mom and dad. They are both werewolves. Automatically that makes me one."
"When did you find out first?"
"I have known since I was ten but the first time I saw mom shift was when I was 16. We aren't fully formed werewolves before 16. So I had my experienced my first shifting the first full moon after I turned 16."
"Do you know that it is you when u are a wolf?"
"The last full moon was the first time I was in full control, it takes time to learn."
Jane was not done asking questions, but it made Shaun feel comfortable that she is not avoiding any of that.
"What about you pack? Wolves travel in packs because that makes them stronger."
"I don't know about that. Both of my parents used to be part of one. I used to meet them when I was young of course then I didn't know what we were. But suddenly my mom cut all ties with all of them. And she taught me herself."
"Why?"
"I don't know. I never asked because she had a very hard time then so I didn't want to remind her of what happened. Plus that time also my father died, so I just thought she must have had an inevitable reason to run away from all of her acquaintances."
"I am sorry about your father."
"He was already getting ready to leave us when he died. I never even asked what happened to him."
"Shaun, not everything is as clear as you what you see. I think you should have asked even after some time. What you should know will never stay hidden from you."
"I just like to live in peace. It is not that knowing would get my dad back or something." Shaun was just afraid of all the reason for their family's dispersion might be him.
"What special powers do you have?" Jane was not even near to the end of her questions.
"I am strong, agile and great sense of smell. I have recently started reading people's emotions and can actually calm them down at their worst."
"That's one hell of a skill. I want that one." Jane was very enthusiastic in knowing about Shaun.
"I think that is enough for today, we might run out of information."
