Shaun and Jane arrived at their common place on the campus. James came towards them.
"Have you moved to Shaun's?" he asked Jane.
"It shouldn't be coming from you who never stays at home even on weekends." Jane shut her brother up.
They talked and laughed a lot. Shaun forgot all about his situation and his mom at least at that moment. They finished all of their class and went out to grab dinner.
"When do we do the assignment?" Selina talked about their new group assignment.
"Let's do it before class. We can divide the portions now and gather the materials." Jane made a suggestion.
"We should do it together, crush at one of ours house and get done with it at once." James brought up opposition to Jane's idea.
"What about you, Shaun? What do you think?" Selina asked him.
James and Jane were waiting for him to take their sides.
"I think Jane's idea is good." He saw James's expression and immediately turned away and said, "Sorry mate, I am hundred percent on Jane's side."
"Traitor." James stared at Shaun.
After dinner Shaun came back home and sat outside the house. He always thought that the house was too big for him and his mother but now he was left all alone. The phone ringing sound woke him up from deep thoughts. He saw Linda's phone number.
"Hello."
"Shaun."
"You have decided to call now after 24 hours." He was definitely angry.
"I am sorry, I should have called earlier."
"Where are you now?"
"A place where it feels everything is going to be okay."
"What is wrong with you? I don't understand. You have never acted like this before."
"Shaun, I am going to make everything right. I will tell you everything you need to know when I comeback."
"I don't want to know anything. Can't we just let it go whatever it is?"
"It isn't that easy, Shaun. I will call you later." She hang up the phone.
Shaun knew something was not right. He could sense trouble coming his way.
He went in and straight to his mother's room and started to search for something. He turned the entire room upside down but couldn't find anything. He went out his mother might have been mysterious but he have never seen her hiding something or act suspicious in the house. The only thing that she hid was a time capsule she buried with her son when he was 10. She said that would be a memory for the future when he thought it was childish.
He was sitting on the ground where they buried it and left without digging it out. Shaun washed up and went to the library to do his part of the group assignment. A book caught his eye before he could start his work. The new book Linda was writing before she decided to run off. It was a story about a lone wolf. He started reading the book but fell asleep before he could reach the climax.
He woke up at the sound of someone entering the house and Shaun immediately went out to check out what happened. He went to Linda's room first but she wasn't there. He saw the time it was 2 in the morning.
"There is no way mom is here. Did someone just broke into the house?" He was murmuring with himself almost with no sound. Shaun concentrated on his hearing senses to notice where the sound might came from. A faint sound came from the back door of the house. He ran at the speed of light and reached there before someone could even blink. There was a wolf standing outside and Shaun could recognize it was a man's eyes behind the wolf. It was the first time he encountered a werewolf besides his mother.
"Who are you?" he asked without showing any signs of fear. But all he got as a response was howling. Suddenly the wolf jumped over him without any warning. But Shaun was fast and threw that wolf to the opposite side. He never felt his powers before. He was strong or at least stronger than the wolf he just threw. Shaun shifted into a wolf without any trouble. He went near the wolf that was trembling at the size of Shaun as a wolf. Shaun suddenly howled as loud as he can and the other wolf turned to human within seconds.
He was a man in his thirties. His face looked rough, his hair shaved and all black clothes. Shaun knocked him out when he turned to human and dragged him to the basement. He locked the door and went out.
