The next morning was very gloomy at Shaun's house. He was ready for class and didn't want to go face to face with his mother early in the morning. As much as he was excited to meet Jane, he felt sorry for talking back to his mom but he was too angry to talk it out because he knew his mother would never let him date with Jane.
He went downstairs slowly and met Linda's eyes. She was drinking coffee in the living room elegantly crossing her legs. He heart almost dropped to the ground she looked at him as if she was ready to destroy everything in the house. But he ignored her and went out without saying a word. He arrived at school but was so bothered by countless useless thoughts to attend class as a normal student. But then someone knocked on his window he quickly turned his head to see who it was and it was Jane waiving at him with her beautiful smile.
"Hi, you came early today." He said to her getting out of his car.
"I thought you would too." She answered in sweet mode.
He was looking at her with a smile on his face.
"What? What is that look for?"
"A look for my girlfriend."
"Are you sure I am your first girlfriend, you give a player vibe off sometimes."
He held his hand out to her and James came right at the perfect moment to interrupt their mood.
"What are you guys doing here?" James asked them with suspicious eyes.
"Chewing you out." Shaun head-locked James and dragged him to class.
James and Shaun became really good friends. Shaun felt really bad about deceiving James about dating Jane.
"We are receiving out midterm results today." James was talking about it because he knew he bombed the exam.
"I will buy you a drink later." Shaun proposed the idea to James and James gave high five to Shaun. Jane was glaring at Shaun with angry eyes his plan should be with her not her brother. Shaun felt a cold air coming from Jane and realized his mistake quickly.
"Why are you staring at Shaun like that?" James saw his sister.
"Because I just started to hate him." Jane answered in sassy tone.
Selina burst into laughter after noticing the situation.
"And what is wrong with you?" James was feeling weirdly left out.
"Nothing." Selina was quick.
"Why are the craziest ones close to me?" James started dissing them. Shaun, Jane and Selina got up and moved to another desk as soon as they heard that.
"The results are out." James smoothly moved to their desk.
"You aced every course?" he saw Shaun's results and froze.
"Really? Wow." Selina was surprised too.
Jane winked her eyes when Shaun looked at her.
"Are you genius?" James was still in awe by Shaun's results.
After class Jane yielded Shaun for James. She went out with Selina.
"I see you have updated you dating status." Selina asked Jane.
"I knew you would notice. How come your hunch is so good?" Jane hated how she can't hide anything from her friend. But she liked it how she never had to talk about everything in order for Selina to understand. Selina was the type of friend who would hug her friend for consolation without asking the reason.
"Did he ask you out?"
"No, I asked him first."
"The one who likes more is at disadvantage." Selina didn't want her friend to get hurt.
"Also the one without regrets after." But Jane was always firm on her judgment.
"So, did that jerk James just snatch your first date?"
"The one who offered is the worse one." Jane was still angry at Shaun.
"Let's just go home and have a party too. We can sleep over at my new house it's almost done."
Selina was moving out of her parent's house. So she was thinking of moving in the next week but she thought it would be great to have housewarming party just with her friend. They stopped by the mart to buy what they need to officially fuel up their party.

"Do you want to hang out in my house?" James and Shaun were going out for drinks.
"That would not be a good idea." Shaun was not feeling comfortable about that.
"My parents are having dinner outside so they are going to be late and Jane is spending the night at Selina's. Come on. We can play games too." James didn't want to stay alone.
"Okay, then." Shaun agreed on that.
Shaun had fun different from what he thought it would be like. He loved the house and the time he spent with his friend.
"Where is the bathroom?" Shaun asked.
"Upstairs third room."
After using the bathroom he saw that the second door was open. He took a glimpse look and it was obviously Jane's room. He slowly opened the door to see more. On the table he saw the book he gave her. Her room was almost occupied by books and reflected her behavior. A crossbow caught his attention. The model of the crossbow was very recent. Why would this item be here in this room it had different mood from the room.
"Shaun." James called from downstairs and Shaun closed the door and hurried downstairs.
"You got a call." James told him.
Shaun noticed that his mom had sent him a text.
"My mom, she wants to eat dinner outside."
"You must be really close with your mom."
"Sometimes but not at this moment." Shaun wasn't ready to talk with Linda about Jane.
"You should get going."
Shaun grabbed his bag and left the house. He was thinking about what he should say and what his mother has to say. It was not only about Jane, he wants his mother to change the way she thinks what she is doing is best for him.
Shaun entered the restaurant and spotted Linda right away. He sat down but didn't know how to start conversation with her so he just started looking his surroundings awkwardly.
"Shaun, about yesterday I am sorry. I was not thinking rationally." She brought it up. "But I have a reason that I can't explain now. You will get to know it one day so please I will not tolerate anything that will put you in danger."
Shaun couldn't say what he wanted because he saw that his mother made it clear that she won't compromise to anything. He quietly ate his dinner and didn't say a word on his way back. They reached home without saying a word.
"Shaun…" his mother knew she made it uncomfortable for both of them and wanted to fix it but couldn't say anything. "Goodnight."
