Jane was walking with her friend Selina that evening and it seemed to Selina that only half part of Jane was with her.
"What's going on? There seems to be something on your mind?" Selina was sounding her friend out.
"Nothing. I am just tired." Jane was lying to Selina's face.
"Let's sit here for a second." Selina dragged her friend to a near bench.
"Selina, I said I am just tired."
"What is going on with you, are you interested in Shaun?"
Jane's face turned pale, she just got busted. I should lie my way out of this, thousand excuses flashed through her mind.
"I saw you earlier you, you bumped into Shaun knowing he wasn't watching you." Selina just exposed that she did it on purpose.
"Oh god. Please tell me you didn't see that." Jane was ashamed to death.
"I think you should explain."
"I just wanted to get his phone number."
"Don't you think it's too early you have seen him what like twice?" Selina knows her friend isn't the rushing kind.
"I have seen him 3 months ago." Jane started confession.
"Doing what?" Selina was surprised.
"I saw him saving a kid from being run over by a truck. The kid was running all over the park and suddenly slipped from his mom's grip and almost lost his life until Shaun popped up from somewhere and saved the child."
Selina was listening to her attentively.
"But he disappeared even before the kid's mom came to thank him. So it is not that I like him or something I just want to get to know him more. He seems bit interesting."
"I thought you my friend was fated to die single."
"I think it's going to take forever just to get close to him."
"James is your biggest obstacle to your dating life, Jane. What about the phone are you really going to pay for it?"
"It must be expensive, right."
"You should have thought about that before you did the deed my friend. Why don't you ask James for money, hasn't he been working part-time during the summer?"
"Do you think he would have money for me? I am sure he spent it on games. "
"Do you have someone who can lend you few?"
"I might have." Jane picked up her phone and called somewhere. Selina's phone got a call from Jane. Laughing out of unbelievability, Selina answered her phone.
"Seli, do you have some money you have saved up?"
"You got the wrong number." Selina gave her friend the answer she deserved.
"Wow, savage." Jane ended the whole conversation. And they both burst into laughter.

Shaun hurried back home. He was so curious what his mother was doing out all night. He went straight to his mother's room but she wasn't there.
"In here." Sound came from the kitchen.
He came with rushing footsteps.
"Mom?" She hugged him tightly the moment she saw him.
"I will protect you Shaun, even if that's the last thing I do."
He was very confused by what she said but he could read it from her eyes she didn't want to be asked anything about what happened to her so he decided to just let it go.
After that he went to his room and he didn't know what to do so he just sat on the chair leaning as far as his can without turning on the lights. After 30 minutes his mom entered his room.
"How are you feeling today?" she asked him.
"Peaceful."
"You should come home early tomorrow."
"Okay. Are we going to join the others?"
"No. Get some rest." She kissed him on the forehead and left the room. She looked very concerned about her son and her shoulder never looked heavier before.
