"Raine, could you help me take the order of the brown-haired hot dude at table six. Sigh... I wish I could but Sasha's having a major breakdown at the back."
Raine turned towards the direction of the sound with a cup of coffee in her hands and she slowly nodded before turning her head towards table six and that's when the whole world seemed to stop on her behalf.
'Why is he here?' She questioned herself then turned to the girl.
"Uhm Martha, didn't you say the guy on table six has brown hair? But I'm seeing black hair." Raine asked and looked between him again just to make sure her speculations were correct.
"Poor thing, I never knew you had such bad eyesight, obviously he has light brown hair. I wonder why you're seeing black." Martha said with hands on her chin then she spun around and voiced, "Make sure you get his phone number if you can."
Raine stared dumbfoundedly at Martha's retreating back and then looked around the small restaurant her mother owned and she noticed that every girl was gawking at the supposedly brown-haired dude. Are they blind or what? Or is the problem coming from her?
She picked up a small notebook and walked in his direction to take his order. If they couldn't see his real appearance then she could pretend not to too considering that this was the first time she was seeing him during the day.
But on getting to his table, her curiosity got the best of her and she couldn't help but whisper.
"Why can't they see your real appearance? Are you giving them an illusion or are you giving me an illusion instead? " She questioned rapidly, her voice a little louder than a whisper but she tried to keep it a little low so that no one else but them could hear what she was saying.
The man smiled, revealing his sharp pointy fangs making the girls gawk at him more. Although the appearance they could see was a lot less godly than the one Raine could see still, their hearts were beating erratically just by a smile.
"What do you think?" he questioned and Raine just stared around the restaurant. Seeing that the girls were glaring at her like they could bore holes in her skin, she quickly gave up the idea of interrogating him and just carried on with the order.
"What can I help you with?" She questioned in a flat tone as she brought out a pen ready to take down his order but instead of answering her, the man just gave a short laugh and loud squeals could be heard in an instant.
'Girls, please!!! where is your sense of modesty?'
Raine almost had the urge of rolling her eyes at them as she just stared at him waiting for his order.
After what seemed like forever, the man finally opened his mouth to speak. "Get me something you make."
"I'm sorry, but my mother is the one running the kitchen?" She replied unhurriedly and he just nodded. She then waited patiently again but still, the man showed no signs of talking anytime soon.
"Why are you here? I thought you only came at night?" She questioned with intensity blazing in her big doe eyes.
The man looked up at her and a small smile rose unto his cherry red lips.
'Where is all this boldness coming from all of a sudden?'
"You summoned me here Raine." He replied shortly and stared down at the menu.
Raine paused, those words, he said it last night but just like the day before, she couldn't understand a thing.
'I summoned him? But how? And why?' All these questions were resurfacing in her head and she swore she could feel a really big headache on its way.
The whole situation seemed bizarre, but the more she asks him for answers, the more she keeps getting confused. She was lost and by the looks of it, no one was going to find her anytime soon.
She sighed despondently and then slumped down on the seat opposite him. She felt completely helpless. She didn't even bother again about the girls around them who were probably digging her grave but all that was in her mind was to get out of the grave she dug for herself.
Everything in her life was fine. She had a quiet life with her mother and her best friend, Nicole. She would help her mother during the weekdays in their local restaurant in the suburb of New York and then spend the weekend with her overdramatic best friend Nicole.
Everything was fine until that one night, on her seventeenth birthday. What happened that night was indescribable and it seemed to be the answer to all her questions now but only that there was one big problem revolving around it.
She couldn't remember a thing about that night.
