Chapter 10 - SHE'S MORE

"... I'm telling you guys, I smell trouble. How could such a weak girl have such high connections?" a young man with pale skin and golden blonde hair spoke. His eyes narrowed as he stroked his chin ever so gently trying to come up with an answer to his very own question.

"Never judge a book by its cover Skye." Another man answered and the young man named Skye snapped his gaze towards him while his left-hand rakes through his messy blonde hair. His cool grey eyes held so many questions as he stared at the glass in front of him before nodding his head in agreement.

The two men both turned and stared at their third companion who seemed not to be interested in their discussion whatsoever.

Skye whispered, "Zarin, he's been acting strange since he got back do you think it's because of the girl?" he asked as his gaze was still fixated on the dark figure beside them and Zarin just shrugged.

"Don't you think you're letting her affect you too much?" Zarin asked, directing his question to the man who had his eyes closed. His expression looked calm as his messy bangs rested lightly on his forehead. His skin was as pale as ever as if there was no blood in them and his chest gave no sign of movement as if he was dead.

Although, Zarin asked a question he still got silence as his reply. A long silence grew after that as the two gave up on their discussion and focused on their drinks.

"She's not as simple as you think."

Finally, there was a reply. Two heads snapped towards his direction as they looked at him expecting another word after that but there was nothing. The atmosphere grew back to how it was, stiff and silent.

"But she's unaware of everything." Just as they gave up, he spoke again but this time no one got their hopes up as they remained silent until Skye spoke up.

"Sigh...I feel quite sorry for her," he voiced out and took a sip from his wine glass, the red liquid hitting his lips.

"She got herself into it anyways then she should prepare to face the consequences. Besides, we had the whole situation under control until she pried her curious gazes towards us." Zarin replied harshly and Skye gaped at him.

"You know the situation quite well right? Then you should know that it wasn't entirely her fault? She didn't wan... "

"That's enough Skye," Zarin cut him off and looked at the figure beside him who now had a deep frown settled on his godly face as he clenched his fists tightly.

"Jedrek, this is getting too much. Why are you getting so worked up, she's just a gi..."

"She's not just a girl," Jedrek spoke with gritted teeth as the frown on his face grew more deeper.

"Then, who is she?" Zarin asked but as expected he got silence as his reply but after what seemed like a long while, Jedrek finally opened his mouth as he spoke.

"She's more..."

"I still don't get why we have to come here when you have countless dresses at home."

Rainé sighed for the umpteenth time as they went through piles and piles of clothes.

"Will you stop complaining sis? Besides, I'm not shopping for myself," Nicole replied with a mischievous grin plastered on her face.

She went further into the shop and Rainé trailed behind her, staring at her friend's back as if throwing question marks with them.

"Who are you shopping for?" She asked and Nicole whose hands were about to pick up a dress from one of the racks froze. She turned slowly toward her best friend and smiled.

"I got an invitation to a ball at Pristine Hills and I get to bring a plus one," she exclaimed as the smile on her face grew wider.

But contrary to what she expected, the expression on Rainé's face said otherwise."Nic, I never knew your boyfriend wears dresses. Is he a crossdresser or something?" Rainé asked which earned her a glare from a pair of ocean blue eyes.

Nicole facepalmed herself inwardly, "Are you foolish or what? Can't you that I'm taking you as my plus one? Haven't you always wanted to go to that city?"

Rainé thought for a while, "What happened to your boyfriend?" She questioned back. She wasn't the one who would easily get tricked by her friend's cheap tactics.

As expected, Nicole became uneasy in an instant as she roamed her eyes everywhere in an attempt to avoid her friend's gaze.

"Uhm... I broke up with him," She finally replied still with avoided gazes.

Rainé raised a brow which wasn't too visible with her bangs."This is your fourth break-up in a month and we haven't reached half of it yet. Even at that, you still didn't bother to tell and you were reprimanding me thirty minutes ago about me not telling you things that are happening in my life recently."

Nicole finally looked at her with newfound confidence."Hey, don't scold me. I was only being a sweetheart best friend that I am by not boring you with my not too important relationsh.. no flings."

Rainé remained silent as her gaze became more demanding and Nicole frowned."Does anything get past those sharp eyes of yours?" she asked in frustration and looking at those pair of blue eyes she got her unspoken answer.

"Anything else, Nic?"
