Raine stepped out of the shower with a white bathrobe and her hair tied up with a towel. She sauntered into her closet and came out again but this time dressed up in pink pajamas with bunny slippers all ready for bed.
She walked towards her dressing table and plugged in the hairdryer to dry her hair after which she turned it off and picked up a hairbrush for her hair. Her long, wavy hair was so sleek and silky cascading through her back until finally settling in at the top of her waist.
She looked at her phone on the table and checked the time, "Good, it's just 8 pm. I hope I don't fall asleep before then." She murmured to no one in particular before picking up her hairbrush to resume brushing her hair.
Just then, her phone chimed and she peeked at it and noticed that there was a message. She picked it up and read its content.
"Follow me for shopping tomorrow?"
A small sinister smile played softly on Raine's face as she read the message and she immediately replied.
"Beg me," and she dropped the phone. A few minutes later, the phone chimed again.
"Come on Raine, don't be too overdramatic, don't break my poor heart" and she almost rolled her eyes into her head. Talk about who's being overdramatic here. A soft sigh left her lips before replying again.
"What time, Nicole?" she asked but there was no message for a long time and she assumed that the brat had gone to bed.
She looked at the mirror and her eyes shone with determination like a woman on a mission. Picking up her hairbrush again, she began brushing her hair and this continued for a long time.
She checked the time on her phone again... Good it's 9 pm.
She put down the hairbrush and picked up a book. Walking towards her bed, she sat on it and concentrated on reading the book like a kid who wanted to study for an exam at the very last minute.
Checking the time again, it was already 10 pm and a soft yawn escaped her lips. She stepped out of her room and into the kitchen to brew some coffee that could keep her awake. When she got back, she immediately picked up her headphones and drew back her curtain revealing a window seat. She sat on it and enjoyed the beautiful view of the whole city. The moon was full and was shining with all vigor.
It looked so spectacular from her room. No wonder that man always stared at it whenever he came. Speaking of that man, she checked the time and it was 11 pm.
Good, if her speculations were correct, he would be here by midnight. With that thought, she gently sipped on her coffee while listening to some music in order to keep herself awake.
When the time clocked 12, she looked around expectantly but nothing out of the ordinary happened. The whole room was tranquil, devoid of any noise and she couldn't help but falter in her thoughts.
'Could be that it was just a dream?'
That thought surfaced in her mind and she clenched her fist tightly, her veins popping out. She could swear that such a godly appearance couldn't just exist in her dreams alone.
'But why is he not here yet? Did he finally leave?'
That thought alone made her heart to be thrown into chaos. Wait, wouldn't it be to her benefit that he stopped hunting her every night? Then why was she feeling dejected just by the thought that he finally left?
The answer was that no matter how much she tried she couldn't tamp down her curiosity, or so she thought. She believed that she deserved an answer for his actions every night and that was what kept her going as her transparent black eyes blazed with intensity.
Minutes passed but still, nothing happened but she noticed that she was finding it difficult to keep her eyelids open. She picked up the coffee mug out of frenzy and gulped it but still, nothing happened. Her head was clear but her eyes were drifting off? Doesn't seem ordinary at all.
With blurry eyes, her lips tugged up into a smile.
He's here.
"I know you're here. Stop trying to make me fall asleep and just come out." She said, her voice a little louder than a whisper, and a silent breeze blew past her face and she shivered.
"Why are you doing this? What do you want from me?" She asked and a loud laugh resounded in the room breaking the stillness in the atmosphere.
"Aren't you asking for too much Raine? First, you want me to stop making you drowsy, then you want me to come out and now you're asking me to tell you what I want from you?" came his chilly voice.
"Please.." she whispered helplessly as she could feel her eyes betraying her with each passing second. She couldn't fall asleep, No, not when he was talking to her now at least.
As if her plea worked, her eyes became clear in an instant and she could see him standing right in front of her as he cast a scrutinizing gaze toward her. She stared at him dazedly before quickly shaking her head to ward off distracting thoughts that came flooding into her mind.
Even with that thought, she still couldn't help but gawk at the wonderful sight in front of her. She watched as his pale skin reflected directly in the moonlight. He seemed to be getting paler with each day she saw him. He pinched the space between his brows before raking his hands through his inky black hair.
He turned towards the windowpane and sighed despondently, just one little word, and yet he couldn't control his willpower.
She was his weakness and he hated that fact. The sooner he got to accept that he was bound to this girl, the better for him but still, he couldn't stay calm with this whole situation.
Why was he doing this? Only she herself knew the answer. All the questions she was asking, she was the answer.
