Chereads / The Last Seeker Of Kimoptra / Chapter 4 - Chapter Four

Chapter 4 - Chapter Four

Aurora's Pov.

I hid behind a tree when I heard footsteps approaching my direction.

The wolf that attacked me earlier was back and this time it wasn't alone.

It was accompanied by a man with very long blonde hair reaching his waistline.

I peered through the side of the tree again to take another glance at him, I knew he was nowhere near being ordinary.

His species were almost extinct back at home.

Other elves like him fled and settled in different lands when the war brought upon our land by the god of wars became so unbearable.

If only I had found my missing spellbook, I could have done an invisibility spell.

"Darn me!" I cursed underneath my breath.

I just had to rely so much on that book and now, I can't even cast a simple invisibility spell without it.

I knew running was useless and it was only a matter of time before the wolf sniffs me out again.

The wolf came closer to the tree I hid behind, then shifted into a man.

I heard a gasp but didn't realize it was from my own mouth until much later.

"I'm sure you already know that it would be useless to run, so I would suggest that you come out this instant." Coincidentally reading my mind, his words sent shivers down my spine and sweat poured down my head to my chin as I stayed still as possible.

I didn't know what to expect.

The last I saw the wolf, I mean werewolf now that I know that he can shift into a man, he didn't hurt me, he just chased and stopped me from running.

But I was still scared and unsure of what to do.

I peeped through again and glanced at the elf, who seemed like someone ready to attack at any minute given.

He had blue-gray eyes that glittered like that of a cat in the night.

They seem cold and very deadly compared to the werewolf's whose eyes were more comfortable to look at except that he was completely naked and his body wasn't something I would want to be caught staring at.

I moved away from the tree to face them.

My teeth clattered in my mouth, I felt my fingers shake under me.

My eyes focused only on the ground, refusing to meet with the strange ones in front of me.

I tugged onto the sleeves on my wrist, trying hard to calm my nerves, but it did not help me.

"Who are you?" The voice I knew very well didn't belong to the werewolf asked.

I lifted my eyes from the ground to meet the owner of the voice, only for them to fall on emerald green eyes instead.

They were different and much more beautiful than the golden amber ones I saw when he attacked me in wolf form a while ago.

But at once I darted them away to the elf, not wanting to feel tempted to explore other parts of his naked body, feeling my cheeks burn up with embarrassment.

Now staring into gray-blue ones that stared back with much intensity, made my skin feel like it had been burned.

It was a lot more than I could continue to bear so I spoke up with my voice trembling with each word spoken.

"My….name…. is Aurora, holder of the Violet…..deer amulet...

...I promise….you….. I mean no harm."

"Why are you here then, and how did you get through the barrier?" I wasn't expecting to hear that voice that suddenly brought an inexplicable calmness to my soul.

A bit startled still, I accidentally bit my tongue.

"We wouldn't hurt you but only if you are willing to comply with us." He spoke again, bringing a weird feeling to my stomach.

I gulped down a lump in my throat and forced the words out of my mouth.

"My amulet brought me here and could only take me back until I've completed my quest." I simply said, fastening my fingers around my amulet.

"State your quest."The man with long blonde hair said in a commanding tone.

My quest was meant to be confidential but preferably my life was more precious to me right now.

I took one glance only at the werewolf's eyes and somehow I found the confidence and strength to speak.

"To find the last Seeker of my kingdom, Kimoptra…"

That was all I said before an unexpected force hurled me across a tree.

My back hit its rough side before my body fell with a loud thud to the ground.

Waves of pain echoed and surged throughout my body.

My limbs felt heavy and my body was numb.

My mind grew hazy and all I heard were incoherent words.

With my eyesight becoming dark and deluded, I felt my eyes close slowly and I gave myself away to the darkness.

Jason's Pov

It was midnight, the rain was still coming down hard and there were occasional rumbles of thunder.

I watched as her skin glistened from the sparks of lightning coming from the paved court through the slits in the blinds.

My eyes lingered on her skinny body and the bruises that lay on it.

She had been unconscious all day long, thanks to Gieon, who never even bothered to check on her for once or even felt a slight concern.

It was getting frustrating for me, waiting and waiting just for her to open those eyes.

I just had no idea why I was so worried about her.

And so I ran a hand through my jet black hair, losing them from the bun I made them into and letting them fall over my shoulders.

Toying my tongue around my cheeks, I took a seat by her side on the bed, listening to her soft breathing and the rhythm of her heartbeat.

I couldn't help but trace my fingers over her almond-shaped face.

Those slender brows, her cherry plum lips, everything about her was unique and enchanting.

I continued admiring her features until my eyelids grew weaker, and I struggled to keep them open. Alas, I gave up.

With my consciousness sliding into the darkness.

Aurora's Pov

My eyelids fluttered open and I woke up only to find myself on a bed and not only that but with the werewolf that ambushed me in the forest.

I muffled a scream.

Shocked at the extent of our closeness, we were inches apart away from our lips touching.

Even though my heart felt frightened at the scene, I was a bit relieved to be awake at such a moment before things got extra awkward and also grateful that he was still sleeping so peacefully.

His face was void of any kind of emotion as his s-shaped brows laid on the top of his face, making him appear somewhat vulnerable.

And so I got off the bed but was reminded of a pain that sent a powerful surge throughout my body.

Muscles around my bone contract painfully.

I held onto my head with my hands, trying to focus on anything but the throbbing pain that was released on me.

Just as I was getting some relief an icy wave embalmed me, the hair on the back of my neck rose and my mouth ran dry as flashes of what happened before I woke up on this bed came like a wave, flooding my mind.

I steady my breath and try to calm the panic in me.

Taking a glance at his vast form again, I felt betrayed.

Even after I told them what they wanted to know, I still got hurt.

It was pretty much clear to me that staying here any longer would only lead to me getting hurt further or dying.

My eyes wandered around the room, frantically searching for an exit but as soon as I laid my eyes on the door I heard him groan loudly.

Without thinking much or remembering the pain I felt all over my body, I rushed down the bed and headed for the door, latched my fingers around the knob, and tried jerking it open but all my efforts were in vain,

…..it was locked

I slid down the door, bringing my knees up to my chest and covering my face with shaking palms.

Feeling cold tears stream down my cheeks.

The pain I felt was much worse than the pain I felt earlier on.

As waves of deep, throbbing pain mixed with sharp, stabbing agony hit me hard.

Sniffling quietly, I removed my palms from my face, only for my eyes to meet with emerald green ones with his huge frame that crouched down to my level, glaring at me.

I felt like I was paralyzed to the spot, his menacing aura holding me in a tightening grip.

I couldn't scream.

I could only open my mouth to find that even words had deserted me.
