Aurora's Pov
I paused for a little while after explaining for some minutes to gather up air into my lungs, then took a glance at Jason.
His eyes only concentrated on me, staring with no expression of any kind written in them.
I guessed he was just being attentive to the story I was telling and so I continued.
"The Oracle is said to be queen Nimara's beloved sister, she is the all-seeing, and all-knowing of all fates.
We call her the Oracle because no one except the queen knew her true name, and she never revealed it to anyone.
For thousands of years, the Oracle was said to be the only inhabitant of the ancient wood and will only show herself to those she wished to see.
When I became an orphan, my only purpose became to stay alive so I could get my revenge on that bastard who ordered the killing of my parents and to find the solution to restoring our Kingdom to its original state of love and harmony.
This led me to embark on a journey to the one who had every answer to every dilemma,
….the Oracle.
But tired, without food and water after many days of journeying to the ancient wood, I passed out when I got to Tiral, the land of the dead, where it is rumored that those who rebelled and waged war against the god of wars now lived.
I woke up in their camp, with lots of eyes on me. And was told that while on patrol, they found me on the outskirts of their camp.
They welcomed me into their midst and I was treated with love and care, just like it used to be among the tribes.
Yaya, the eldest witch among them, gifted me a spellbook to practice my magic when she knew I wasn't good at remembering spells, but I misplaced it when I got here.
Anyway, I told them about my plan on visiting the Oracle to find a solution to the war as all done so far by the rebels and those loyal to queen Nimara had failed and that I would wish to continue on my journey
They told me several of the rebels have been to the ancient woods, but the Oracle did not reveal herself to them.
I was not discouraged by this, so after two days of preparation, I said my farewell and left for the ancient woods.
I spent six days in the forest without the oracle showing herself to me. But just as I was almost giving up, on the seventh day, she appeared to me.
She told me that the restoration of Kimoptra lies in the hands of the one who is born of the last seeker.
But her words left me confused.
I knew there were no seekers left in Kimoptra...
The seventh tribe, Erasmus had become a name without a bearer.
... every one of them had perished in the war…
But who was I to question the all-knowing Oracle?
And so, all I asked was how could I get to the one born of the last seeker.
She said that my amulet would lead the way and I could only come back when my quest was completed."
After minutes of concluding on why I have to find the last seeker of my kingdom to Jason, I felt like I could also ask him a question I have been wishing to ask him too.
Jason's Pov
The one born of the last seeker….
That sentence kept ringing in my head even after she had concluded her story minutes ago.
The Oracle was talking about me because according to my father and Gieon, my mother was the last of the seeker tribe by the time they left Kimoptra.
But what exactly could I possibly offer to a kingdom that they had made me abandon even before I was born?
And how could the solution to its problem lie in my hands?
"Hello?" Waving a hand in my face, Aurora said, cutting me out of my thoughts.
"I'm sorry, I zoned out for a bit." I rubbed the back of my neck, feeling a bit embarrassed.
Her hypnotic set of eyes remains fixed on me, staring in a scrutinizing manner.
She came closer, tilting her head to a side and squinting her eyes a little.
I looked away, feeling like her eyes were compelling me to tell her I am who she's being searching for.
But my eyes landed on her amulet, glittering just like the night I first saw her and just as stunning as her eyes.
She looked down. Also, realizing the glitters emitting from her amulet, she took it into her palm, staring at it quietly and letting the silence wander between us both.
A few minutes passed, and she looked up at me, staring again.
"You already told me you were a half-breed werewolf. What is your other breed?" The question came as I had already expected.
But could I really tell her who I am?
My mind wanders around my brain, trying to get an answer to what to do, what exactly do I tell her?
"I smell a scent. It's familiar." My wolf tells me, rescuing me from the dilemma of answering her question.
But the scent that I perceive also awakens a wave of certain anger in me.
It makes my wolf want to crawl out of my skin.
"Settle down," I say to him, speaking inwardly and standing up to sniff the air.
Also sensing something was wrong, Aurora stood up, looking around, lost in what was happening.
"What's going on?" She asked.
"We are not alone," I whispered, taking a hold of her hand.
I felt it go numb and cold in mine as her head snapped in my direction, with her gaze resting perfectly on the side of my face.
"Who is it?" I asked, questioning my wolf without speaking and also ignoring her stare at me.
"They, you mean." He replied with a tone laced with rage.
"Show yourselves!" I said, letting out a loud growl of annoyance that made the girl by my side flinch in fear.
"Took you long enough." Standing by Gieon as they became visible a few inches away from where we stood, the baritone voice I well recognized said with a smirk on his lips.
Merely looking into those ocean blue eyes of his made the anger in me rise and flow through my veins, threatening to erupt like a volcano.
I curled my free hand into a ball, clenching it so hard that I felt my nails cut deep into my skin.
He glanced over to Aurora, glaring at her intensely, making her hand tremble in mine.
"Would you take those eyes off her?" I spat out, barely controlling the rage I felt within.
"Now is that a way to greet your old man?" He replied, turning those eyes of his back to me.
