I couldn't just believe Gieon right now, bringing my father here, using an invisibility spell, and listening in on my conversation with Aurora.
It's even bad enough that I wasn't able to perceive their scent quicker than now...
It was like all my senses fell into a deep slumber.
And their presence here makes me feel like I'm suffocating from my irritation.
"What are you two doing here?" I queried, but got an annoying response from my father, while Gieon just stood still, watching with a face void of emotion as usual.
"Why don't we start this wonderful reunion with you giving our little witch here, over to Gieon while we go do some father-son catching up, hmm?" He said with the words rolling off his tongue with so much ease that I wondered if he had remorse for abandoning me for a whole five years.
And now, he suddenly shows up out of the blues, expecting me to just obey his commands like some sort of programmed robot. What the hell is he thinking!?
"I have nothing to say or do with you, so that wouldn't be necessary," I replied, feeling Aurora's hand that went numb in mine a couple of minutes ago, suddenly going warm, gripping my hand.
It was obvious she was scared about the idea of me giving her up to Gieon, but that wasn't an idea I would even try thinking about, especially knowing what he could do to her.
"Jason, stop being so difficult, just hand her over to Gieon!" He said, using that same intimidating tone he always used on me back then when I tried refusing to do his biddings.
But I simply ignored him. Little did he know how much I've changed over the years and that, that voice could never work on me again.
"Seems like we're doing it the hard way, then." He voiced out and signaled to Gieon before dark fur began sprouting out rapidly around his body, ripping off his clothes.
Steel gray claws extended from his now large black paws, replacing his normal nails.
With his face contorting as the long wolf's muzzle extended out in front of his face.
Sharp and large ivory canines also appeared beneath his jaw.
And when he was done shifting into his big black wolf, he let out a dangerous growl, letting me know he was bringing all the trouble.
Gieon also took a fighter's stance by his side, with a golden amber light emitting from both his hands.
I get they are trying to protect me, but all this,.....
... this is just them going overboard
I'm so disappointed, mostly in Gieon, knowing that he would try to kill a girl, young enough to serve as his daughter even after what he went through in Kimoptra.
But as for my dad, he has always been this irrational with deciding, so this act was not entirely a disappointment. It was majorly something I had already predicted.
They both cannot see that Aurora isn't an enemy here.
Just like us, she's also a victim of a war that has been on for too long.
And even though both are family, I won't tolerate them touching even a strand of her hair.
She's mine,...
... and mine alone to protect.
Glaring at both my father and Gieon as they both stood, ready to attack,
I knew that if I were to stay here any longer, I would definitely get injured and Aurora's fate would be worse.
Glancing over at her, terror washed over her beautiful face, and the sound of her heartbeat throbbed loud and irregular in my ears.
Since the very first time I saw her, I've had this inexplicable obligation to protect her at all costs, and even if it meant revealing myself as a seeker, so be it.
Still holding her hand in mine, I pulled her towards me, and she let out a stifled squeak as her body slammed right into mine, with my other hand latched over on her waist, I try to think of the safest place in the woods where we wouldn't easily be found but my memory goes blank.
Seconds later, my father with full force aimed at me and Aurora, charges forward, his large paws hovering in the air, but he had barely reached us when I remembered a cave I had once found in the depth of this forest two years ago.
At the same time, summoning my powers, I teleported there with Aurora in my arms.
Faced with nothing but darkness in the cave, her body trembled in an odd rhythm in my grasp and all I hear was her heavy breathing.
"Relax, you are safe now," I said all to calm her down, but she pressed further, burying her head into my chest, refusing to reveal her face.
"Aurora," I called out softly before she finally responded to my solace by lifting her head off my chest.
The glitters from her amulet brighten up the dark cave while her sparkling Violet eyes wandered around before resting on my face.
Her bottom lip quivered, and her shoulders dropped in resignation as she stared at nothing in particular but my face.
I watched tears well up inside her eyes and coursed down her cheeks, causing immense pain in my heart once again.
Questions began popping up in my head about how she even had the power to do something like that to me?
Why do I feel so attached to her in such a short time that I've gotten to know her?
Why does it hurt so much to see her cry before me?
Why do I feel the need to protect and care for her?
Why does it feel like she was made just to be in my arms, seeking comfort in them only?
Why?
Why exactly does she bring so many unanswered questions for me?
"Mate, ...
… because she's our mate." Leaving me entirely surprised, my wolf gave me an answer that answered every other question I had.
