Chereads / The Last Seeker Of Kimoptra / Chapter 6 - Chapter Six

Chapter 6 - Chapter Six

Aurora's Pov

Like the wind, the days went by quickly and the bruises on my skin almost weren't as visible as before.

Everything was just okay and for the elf whose name I discovered was Gieon, he just put up a grimace each time he saw me and never said a word.

"I hope you liked it?" Jason asked me, as he watched me drop the fork on the empty plate.

"Yes, it was nice thank you."I smiled, licking my lips. He was such a good cook.

And aside from the bruises on my body, it was like my taste buds were also bruised too, as I couldn't eat much of the food he brought me days before now.

I didn't realize how hungry I was until the sweet aroma came through the door a few minutes ago.

"Umm, what about you? Aren't you gonna eat?" Realizing that I didn't even offer him some food when I was eating, I asked.

"I already had mine in the kitchen. So in the meantime do you wanna go out? Like a stroll outside?" He babbled packing up the plate.

"I thought I was….I thought you were…." I trailed off, not knowing how to present the words I wanted to say.

He raised an eyebrow at me, seeming amused to see me disorganized in my speech, saying."You thought you were a prisoner here didn't you?"

I slowly nod my head in affirmation and he shook his head chuckling for a while.

Wondering why he was laughing at me, I bit my lower lips already feeling embarrassed.

"I've been trapped in that boat long enough not to allow anyone else on it or to feel what being a prisoner is. So are you coming?" He mumbled underneath his breath making his words sound like it was submerged in sadness but his expression didn't just match it at all.

His emerald green eyes lit up with a glint of excitement and joy that made me think about how possible it was for him to put two emotions under control.

I still wondered what he meant by what it felt like to be a prisoner but I shook it off my shoulders and concentrated on the question he directed at me."Yes, I wouldn't mind a stroll."

"Great then, we can leave now, right?" He asked and I gave a nod.

I might not have found the last Seeker in the woods, but this Jason guy seems like a mystery that needed to be unfolded.

Jason's Pov

After she had her meal, I decided to take her out to a favorite place of mine in the woods.

On getting there, her face lit up, excitedly.

"What a beautiful scene." She mumbled, wandering around the path near the lake.

It was peaceful and quiet like it always seems to be every other time I came.

The cool breeze gently caressed my arms and legs and provoked the trees to dance in accord with its rhythm.

It blew continuously and some leaves that barely hung on to the branches were pulled along with it.

I stopped, looking back to see Aurora struggling to put away her hair from her face, the wind seem to be messing with her, and I smiled.

She looked even more beautiful than the first time I saw her, the nature around her just seemed to add to her beauty.

I closed my eyes, inhaling the sweet aroma of flowers that overflow nearby, and after some seconds I felt her presence by my side.

"Ahem." She cleared her throat and I brought my attention to her.

"It's a lovely place, thank you for bringing me out here."

Curling up the corners of my lips into a smile at her statement, I wondered if now was the right time to ask a question about her quest.

" I've been wanting to ask you a question about your quest. Why do you need to find the last seeker of Kimoptra?" Her expression changed as soon as I brought up the topic.

The smile she had on her face before now vanished into thin air and her face grew pale.

Peering deep into those violet eyes I waited for an answer to my question.

I've been waiting for days now, wanting her to feel comfortable enough just so I could ask this question to understand why she needed to find the last seeker which happens to be me.

She darted her eyes away from me, staring only at the lake in front.

"I knew you'd ask about that soon."

She took in a deep sigh and sat on the bare floor with her legs crossed over each other.

And after a minute she looked up at me with a puzzled face, tilting her head to the side.

"Aren't you going to take a seat?"

"Oh," I said, taking a second before I sat by her side.

After some minutes of silence, she finally spoke.

"My parents were amongst those who refused to accept the reign of Lord Khan, the god of wars after he overthrew his mother, queen Nimara, goddess of life and the founder of Kimoptra.

He also killed his brother Lord Siman, the god of love.

And after my parent were caught by those monstrous creatures he calls his soldiers, they were burnt alive by an order given by him.

I became an orphan with nowhere to go, hiding in the shadows for fear of being caught and killed or being a slave to that devil.

I could barely survive on my own.

There were days I slept hungry and in fear of what was to come.

For three years of my life, I was all alone journeying through the seven tribes of the kingdom, I never stayed in any for too long, for fear and the terrible things that now lurk within them, for most of the tribes of the kingdom could not be trusted.

Guther was the first tribe and were the dragons.

They were known as the warrior tribe, ever ready to strike, ever prepared for a battle but the one we face was a battle they never prepared for or even fathomed would happen.

The werewolves being the second tribe,

the queen called them by the name Kamaria, meaning moonlight and because the first-ever werewolf she created was on a full moon, bright and beautiful.

The third tribe were the elves, brilliant in nature, and also very skilled when it came to weapons and the use of magic.

She called them Zahira.

My kind was the fourth tribe and we're called Tika.

We were known as the grandmasters of spells, conjuring and manipulating them for our use.

The fifth was the fairies, they were the most beautiful and kind creatures you could ever meet.

They were called Amenha.

The sixth tribe was Esmeray, they are creatures who lived only in the dark and shadows.

Their skin was as white as snow and their eyes as red as the blood moon itself.

The vampires...

And finally, the ones she called Erasmus,

the seeker's tribe.

It was said she created them as a reminder of the one person she holds dear to her heart,

her beloved sister the Oracle…..

Kimoptra use to be a land with different creatures significant in their own way and living together in peace, love, and harmony.

But Lord Khan destroys it all corrupting its soil with his hatred and cruelty.

Though I've been told most of the story she explained to me by my father and Gieon, I still listened with keen interest even after she paused and studied my reaction.
