Chereads / The Last Seeker Of Kimoptra / Chapter 3 - Chapter Three

Chapter 3 - Chapter Three

Jason's Pov

Stepping outside half-naked, only with my pants on, I realized that the sun was almost down and it was beginning to get dark.

Sighing deeply to the cool breeze that hit my bare chest and experimented with my hair spiraling down my shoulders.

Looking over at the trees, they danced around, swaying to its rhythm.

"Give me control." My wolf growled in a hoarse and hungry voice.

I immediately took off my pants, not wanting to ruin them before shifting and running into the oak forest.

Without minding the numerous tree trunks that bit into my fur, I ran faster with great anticipation of what was to come.

Fueled by a desperate urge to rip something apart. Limb from limb while sucking out the life from whatever animal it was.

I ran faster than usual.

Stopping only at a part of the forest where a uniquely intoxicating scent got caught up in my nose.

I could already hear its heartbeat pounding in its body already.

And a snapping of a twig was all it took before a race began.

It surprised me with its level of speed and how it leaped across broken tree branches fast.

I was about to find out what the strange creature was.

When we encountered a hole in our race, which made it stop and gave me an upper hand.

I lunged forward, trapped it underneath my paws and my wolf growled in a satisfying manner of the victory attained.

A surprise hit both me and my wolf hard when we discovered what we were chasing all along.

For so long I've been away from this amazing species of the other gender.

Enchanting yet features that trembled in fear, shivering beneath me.

A startled heartbeat echoed in my ears, with beads of sweat flowing through those slender brows.

Soot-black lashes flutter nervously open, revealing the most hypnotic set of violet eyes.

I used to think my emerald-green eyes were the most beautiful eyes on the planet, but this gorgeous damsel with a skin brighter than the moon itself just proved me wrong.

I lifted my weight off her, sitting back to adore the unique creation.

And when she saw that I wasn't out to attack anymore, like a stealthy cat, she stood up halfway to the ground staring weirdly at me

Her left hand scanned the ground for something, a weapon to defend herself, I thought.

But she stood up tall, giving me a full view of her magnificent body.

That was when I noticed something glittering in the same color as her eyes on her neck.

An amulet…

...Molded in the form of a deer.

Last I remember my Dad telling me of beings from Kimoptra who had such.

Witches…

The fourth tribe of my kingdom.

Only those who belonged to the strongest of covens had a deer-shaped amulet like hers.

Was she a witch?

But even if she was, no one could possibly cross through the barriers in the woods, or could they?

But except...

….Gieon was in somewhat danger perhaps.

Racing back to the house and leaving her behind in her position.

I began to think about what could have happened to him.

Each time my paws kissed the earth, my brain panicked with jump leads.

My paws, shuffling through detritus and leaves never stopped hitting the ground.

Fear became a tangible living force that crept over me like some hungry beast.

My heart pounded in my ears, blocking out all other sounds.

Soon, I was at the front door.

I shifted back into my normal form, rushing into the house.

Everywhere was okay and in the same position I left it, except for the kitchen,

It was a living mess.

There were lots of pots and other kitchen utensils lying around on a wet floor.

But soon enough, the door leading to the back of the house got opened.

And immediately Joy and relief welled up inside me as I laid eyes upon him.

Letting out a breath, I held for a while.

"You're back." He said with a small frown, dropping the mop in his hands.

"Yeah, I said with my eye signaling to the kitchen.

"Oh, don't mind me. I made a mess, clumsy me." He replied with a light chuckle, picking up a pot from the floor.

"I thought you'd have wanted to stay a bit longer, why didn't you do so?" He asked, and felt my muscles rise in tension to the question he asked.

"Someone broke through the barrier." The words sip out of my mouth like slime.

"What?" He asked, sounding surprised.

His lively mood changed at once.

I could hear his heart change its rhythm of the beat.

"And I don't think it's an ordinary being," I confessed.

"From what I saw, it's a female and it looked like a human, but those eyes I saw told a different tale.

They were violet, and she also had an amulet that glowed in the same color except that it was shaped like a deer."He looked at me wide-eyed, mouth agape, his face frozen in anticipatory fear, sliding into concern.

"Stay here." He whispered, putting a cloak around himself and taking a step towards the door.

"I'm coming with you., I replied.

"Jason, you don't know what power is in that forest." He spoke up, trying to dissuade me from going with him.

"When I attacked her back in the woods, she could have defended herself if she wasn't vulnerable, I said too quickly and also in confidence.

"Don't be too sure about that." He warned, before going outside the house.

Ignoring him, I shifted into wolf form and went out after him.

I could still hear Gieon's footsteps, shuffling through the dried leaves as we came to the spot I left her earlier on.

Her scent was all over the place, which meant she was near.

"Behind that tree." My wolf growled.

Gieon was already looking tired of searching when I looked over at him.

Shifting into my normal form still on all fours, I heard a gasp behind the same tree my wolf had earlier informed me about.

Standing up, I gave a sign to Gieon, indicating that she was hiding behind the tree some steps away from us.

"I'm sure you already know that it would be useless to run, so I would suggest that you come out this instant., I announced, glancing back in Gieon's direction.

His face was relaxed, but I could still see the faint outline of wrinkles around his eyes, eyes which seemed to sparkle with anxiety.

After a minute or two, she moved away from the enormous oak tree and showed herself.

Now it was my time to gasp, but only inside me.

Somehow I had a better view of her than before, she looked rather young and very timid.

The corners of my eyes traced down her shoulder to her wrist when I caught her tugging on her sleeves.

Her eyes stared at nothing else but the ground like they had the powers to magically make her disappear from here.

"Who are you." Gieon's voice came through, breaking the silence between us all.

Gulping down loudly, she raised those eyes filled with tremendous fear.

Her glance fell on me, but at once, she brought them to Gieon's.

I could guess why.

It was because I was naked and she felt uncomfortable staring at my body, but I wasn't concerned at all.

After all, this wasn't my first time being unclad in front of a female or anyone else .

"My…name... is Aurora, ..holder of the Violet…. deer amulet…

...I promise... you, I mean…. no harm." Her voice sounded shaky as she spoke, she was terrified and seemed like she was hardly even breathing at all.

"Why are you here then, and how did you get through the barrier?" I voiced out suddenly and she flinched slightly.

"We would not hurt you but only if you are willing to comply with us." For some weird reason, I was pissed off by what I said, the poor creature was already scared to death and here I was, still bothering it with a threat.

Deep down I knew that even if she decided not to speak I wouldn't dare hurt her.

Why?

I couldn't quite tell or understand either.

"My amulet brought me here and could only take me back until I've completed my quest." She said, with her fingers latched over the amulet, slightly covering the glittering light that appeared from it.

"State your quest, Gieon demanded, his blue-gray eyes, gleaming with curiosity in them.

And once again she brought up her head with her eyes resting only on my face.

She looked reluctant to speak but eventually, she let out a sentence that shocked me to my bones.

"To find the last Seeker of my kingdom, Kimoptra…" She divulged before she was thrown across a tree.

Outraged, I look to my side to see Gieon's hands glowing with an amber light.

The look on his face showed that he wasn't done with her as he proceeded toward her to finish what he had started.

"Stop! What do you think you are doing?" I asked, boiling in the rage of my fury.

Standing in his path, I refused him from going further.

"Move Jason."He said in a threatening voice.

"No! I won't let you hurt her anymore." Roaring ferociously at him I said, I didn't even understand why I was protecting this girl but all I knew was that I was definitely going to do something I was sure to regret if Gieon pushed further.

"She can't be trusted and If I let her live it would be at the cost of our lives, don't you get it."

"Back off., I warned him in a deadly whisper.

My attitude and words only made him scoff at me. He looked at me with disbelief radiating in his eyes.

"You are making a mistake Jason."

"No, I'm not!" I said, glaring murderously at him as my wolf sprang up in a battle position, ready to overpower me.

"We should at least get to know more of why she's here and who sent her, so back off!"I said, trying to calm the rage I received from my wolf.

I don't know, but there is something about her, I mean Aurora as she said her name was, that made my stomach twirl and jump weirdly and Gieon throwing her across a damn tree just make me wanna kill him right now.

"Fine, we'll keep her but locked up till I'm convinced that she's not a threat ." He grumbled out before waving two joined fingers in the air and disappearing.

Clenching my knuckles hard, my gaze hovered upon her bruised body, with only the rising of her chest telling me that she still lived.

I came closer to where she lay crouching down, I put a hand over her arm before placing my left hand on the ground then teleported back to the house with her.
