Chereads / The Last Seeker Of Kimoptra / Chapter 2 - Chapter Two

Chapter 2 - Chapter Two

Jason's Pov

In my actual home, Kimoptra. We refer to beings like me as half breeds.

Beings who are of two different tribes of the kingdom.

We are rare amongst other creatures, but we possess twice as much strength or ability as others who aren't half breeds.

My father belonged to the second tribe of the kingdom. Kamaria, or better still, werewolves.

He fell in love with my mother, a Seeker, who was from the seventh and last tribe of the kingdom, the Erasmus.

Not really specified, other beings referred to them as the special creations of Queen Nimara, goddess of life, founder, and ruler of Kimoptra kingdom.

Everyone lived in harmony despite their differences.

One tribe could get involved with another tribe as long as they were in love.

But that was our downfall…

Love…

The Queen's first-ever creations were her sons.

Her first, Lord Siman, the god of Love, peace, and harmony.

The second is Lord Khan, the god of Wars, meant to protect and defend us from external threats.

But driven by his jealousy of the love his mother had for the seven tribes of her kingdom, a stem of hatred for us grew until it became a strongly rooted tree, planted deep inside of him.

He began hatching his plan to overthrow the Queen.

Which he did, first by killing his brother, who refused to fight with him.

Led to the Queen's decision to destroy him, but my father told me that her love for him refused her to keep her decision.

And when he saw that she could not do as she had said, he took the opportunity, stabbing her with his dagger and ripping out her Golden Crystal heart, then kept her body locked up on mount Tashi, the magical mount of bondage.

With the queen gone, he began his reign of terror, using the tribes as a pawn to destroy themselves.

He took countless lives of those who refused to obey and worship him.

But most especially, he killed the Seekers, whether or not they were ready to serve him.

He killed every Seeker until my mother became the last of her kind.

But what prompted her to leave with my father to the human world was when she discovered she was pregnant with me.

She wanted to keep my existence a secret. If at all something bad were to happen to her, I'd be alive.

She believed that there was a reason for Lord Khan wanting to put an end to all seekers in existence and that we could lead to a solution to end the war he created.

….. I was only seven months old, Dad had taken me out to the lake nearby our house then, and she was all alone when a fire broke out from nowhere and claimed her life.

All my father told me was left of her was a necklace I wear till date.

Serves as a reminder of who I am now…..

....The last Seeker of my Kingdom...

...

The old oak door of my room slowly opened, sending out a loud ear-piercing creek from its hinges.

I let my eyes wander off from the book in my hand, gracing a pair of blue-gray eyes,

leaf-shaped ears and pale skin like that of an albino hedgehog.

His blonde long hair swayed around his waist each time he took a step toward my bed.

"Aren't you tired of reading that book over and over again?" His eyes squint, and the corners of his mouth move up at a diagonal, widening his lips with his cheeks raised into a warm and authentic smile.

"No," I answered, returning my eyes to the book.

"But don't you want to go out?" Maybe exploring the woods perhaps? He asked, trying to lift off my brooding expression.

"I've gone through the woods like a thousand times and I found nothing fascinating about it, so what is the use?" I replied, already feeling bored with the conversation.

Not giving up, he seemed determined to get me off my butt.

Gieon is an elf and a longtime friend of my parents, most especially my mother.

Five years ago, when my father made us move from London, he brought us here to a disclosed and secluded area in the north of America.

Only a being like Gieon wouldn't mind living here.

One day, my father just decides to leave without telling me why and even saying goodbye to me.

I felt hurt, angered, abandoned, and caged.

But according to Gieon, he said that my father did the right thing by keeping me here with him to protect me.

But if I may ask, from what?

Lord Khan?....

I've been living in the human world for twenty-three years now, and there has never been an attack whatsoever on me.

But as usual, explaining that to Gieon is pretty much useless.

He has the whole forest locked up under somewhat spell that prevents me from leaving or anyone else from entering.

I've tried multiple times to break it, but I failed.

"You know you can't stay indoors all day long." He persuaded me again.

"But I've practically been indoors for five years since you wouldn't let me out of this damn woods!" I threw the book down in frustration.

I knew that he understood what I have been feeling all these years.

For someone who lost his entire family back in Kimoptra, and spent twenty-four years in a deserted area, he knows how crazy it makes one feel.

Not having a place to go, faces to see, people to meet.

It's sickening.

The only time he goes out of the woods is whenever we need a restock of our food and since he is vegetarian,

I sometimes go on hunts for animals in the forest.

"You know, your father…."

"No, please, I'm not up for that discussion today." Cutting through his words like a sharp knife.

"Maybe I will go for a walk in the woods," I said and I noticed a smile creep on his lips as I left the room.

He might have thought that intentionally putting up a discussion I hate talking about did make me go out.

But, I do have other plans for the evening.
