Druak had shaken her hand and instantly after the agreement was made all of the pressure that was on him had completely disappeared as if it never existed.
*Huff*Druak took a deep breath. Finally feeling comfortable enough to ask the dragon a few questions, realising that he should be safe from any more harm."I never had the chance to ask, but what's your name and how'd you end like this."
"It's Astra if you really have to know." She said as she slowly disappeared, not giving Druak a chance to answer any more questions.
'Astra huh. She seems a bit stuck up but at least she's not like the Dragons I've read about in…that book. At least I hope not.' Druak thought as he also disappeared into a cloud of fog.
Druak was once again in darkness but this time was a little different. As he entered the darkness he noticed the change.'Wait, I'm not having any visions.' Druak looked around waiting for something to happen and something did happen, but it was not what Druak had expected.
{You have gained Dragons Insight}
'Wait why is this information suddenly popping into my head and what is this dragon's insight thing.' Druak couldn't see anything but for some reason, he gained knowledge about something he should never have known about.
Just as Druak asked those questions the soft voice of Astra seemed to echo through his head."It is a power that is granted to anyone that becomes linked with a dragon. This power can only be given by a dragon once in their life and is normally only given to those who are worthy of it."
"So does that mean you see me as wor…" Druak was cut off by Astra, who seemed rather annoyed."No, I don't, but I had no other choice... you were an idiot and tried to absorb a dragon's frostfire heart, without any preparations or knowing exactly what it actually was."*Huff* She once again disappeared without making a sound.
'I should probably figure out what this dragon insight can do.' Druak thought as he began trying anything he could to activate the ability, power, or whatever it was.
Eventually, he managed to get it to work, all he had to do was focus on and it managed to activate the dragon's insight. It was much simpler than what Druak originally thought and was incredibly useful thanks to the information it implanted into the user's brain. Druak wasn't quite sure how it worked but he was sure he'd eventually find out sometime in the future.
Name: Druak
Race: Human
Class Stage: {1st Stage Dragon Sorcerer}(Steel Rank)
Mana Core: {Intermediate Orange Core}
Mana Capacity: {Lesser Orange Grade}
'This is amazing, it gives so much information. Finding out my mana core and capacity normally requires ridiculously expensive equipment but now I can find it out without spending anything. I am still curious about what else this does but for now, I should leave it I need to get to the academy and this information should be enough for now.
He also now knew what type of class he had. A sorcerer is seen very differently from other magic classes and is normally very rare and hard to get as a class. Not many that gain a sorcerer class are lower than Steel rank and it is one of the few classes that increase in rank the higher your stage is, most are limited to gold rank but that is already high enough to be one of the top in the lesser kingdoms.
This was how demons came about, as contracting with a demon gave many benefits and also gave you a sorcerer class.
It was a shame he still didn't know exactly what his elemental affinity was, but it didn't matter much for now as he had already gained a class from the dragon and its rank is already steel rank which is a way higher ranked class than he'd had even at 27. 'This is huge but for now I can't experiment on anything, I need to get a move on.'
After using his ability Druak had asked how he gained the information and from what he learned from Astra it seemed that thanks to his bond with Astra he was now able to see the souls of certain people, so long as he had enough mana to do so. He also learned that when a person is given a name it is more significant than Druak originally thought, as it is carved into the soul of the being and can't influence the person greatly if used correctly.
Druak had finished experimenting with his new ability and decided it would be best if he started to head to the academy before he was too late to participate in the examination. From what he could tell he only has today to get to the academy and it would normally take him two if not three days normally.
Druak once again closed his eyes, exiting the dark space he was once in. Before his eyes were once again the outside world and surrounding him was a beautiful, magical aurora of mana that was bright blue. This mana didn't stay for long and suddenly disappeared into Druak's body, it seemed as though this was the last remains of the mana the frostfire heart released.
He jumped up from the rock he had been sitting on and saw the pool of blood that was where he once was, but there was something else, a horrible, dark, and murky liquid that seemed to also be mixed in with his blood.
"What is that." Druak asked confusedly.
Just as he asked the question Astra answered in a somewhat disgusted manner."Disgusting, necrotic mana. Why was this in your body." She seemed to have changed from disgust to annoyance and anger. "You're working for a LICH. What was I thinking, humans are still just as greedy a race as they were before, I was an idiot for trusting such a useless race."
Druak face twisted in anger."WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY. You know nothing about me and you dare assume I'd let that thing possess me." Druak was furious, he had watched countless people die because of his mess up and now he was getting told he was GREEDY for trying to save his friend's life. Druak couldn't think straight and started to escalate the situation more and more, his guilt for what he had caused only made his anger rise even higher.
Druaks rage reached a point where he couldn't contain it anymore, this wasn't because of what Astra had said but it was the match that ignited the flames.
*AAAARR* Druak let out a loud yell as he cast a spell he had never used before.
A magic circle formed in front of him and he siphoned almost all of his mana into it and realised a huge wave of ice bulldozed through the large forest in front of him.
The shock of casting such a strong spell and his mana being almost completely drained had caused him to regain his senses."What kind of spell was that. It was at least a 2nd stage spell." Druak was at a loss for what to think.
Astra seemed to have noticed that she had jumped to conclusions, like she normally did, and angered Druak."I'm sorry for accusing you of working with a Lich." Astra said sincerely and for some reason, Druak could tell that Astra was being genuine, it was as if he had some kind way which told him roughly how she felt, it wasn't perfect but he could tell at least this much.
"No it's not your fault, I should have been more careful." Druak said in a sullen tone. He had been putting all the deaths of the villagers on him and hated the fact that someone told him he had done it intentionally.
"What actually happened.''Astra asked, seemingly curious but it also seemed as though she had a hint of sympathy, not much but it was there.
Druak just wandered off towards the academy, avoiding any more questions.
Neither of them said another word after their awkward conversation. It didn't help that Druak was the type to hold very, very strong grudges so the only thing he was currently focused on was his revenge on the lich that had possessed him.
19 hours later
Druak slowly realised that it wasn't just his mana that had improved, his entire body seemed to change once he bonded with Astra, even causing his body temperature to drop dramatically.
"When I am strong enough to end your life, there will be nowhere you can hide."Druak whispered under his breath, the academy now in sight. The changes in his body seemed to give him hope that sometime soon he would be able to completely destroy the lich that once possessed him.
