Chapter 19 - Problems already

Finally, he was here. This was the academy he had only heard of and never actually got the chance to go to. The main reason was that he had been in a coma, but there was also another reason. This was an incident that caused no students to ever attend the academy again and that incident was the black dragon attack, it was a massive 7th stage dragon that completely devastated anything in its path, there was no one in the argonaut kingdom that could defeat it, causing the whole academy to be completely decimated in just 2 days.

This wouldn't happen for a few more years but Druak was hoping to stop this incident as it caused a great deal of chaos in the argonaut kingdom, eventually leading to the largest war since its creation. In his past life, he didn't even manage to live to see the end of this war.

Druak began to approach the academy, he knew he wasn't late due to all the people at the entrance getting ready for the entrance exam. You required both an access pass and to reach the top 300 ranks in the exam to get into the academy. 300 might sound like a lot but over 1000 students applied to join the academy so only 25% of applicants actually got accepted even though they were given an access pass.

The academy was called the Griffon academy and was the highest ranked academy in the 8 lesser kingdoms, this gave them a lot more resources than other lesser kingdom's academies and they also had more resources than some academies in the greater kingdoms. This was a great achievement as the greater kingdoms had almost 5 times the size of any of the lesser kingdoms.

"Pathetic, this is what you humans call an academy. This place looks boring." Astra said as she appeared next to Druak.

Druak quickly turned around to look at Astra."What do you mean, look at this place… it's huge and covered with so much interesting magic."Druak seemed almost ecstatic once he got a glimpse of all of the magic objects floating around the academy.

The academy looked like a ginormous castle that had towers all around it, with intricate blue crystals at the top of them.

"What do you mean this is boring, look at all the wonderful magical artefacts that I could learn from. How can you think this is boring."Druak seemed determined to adjust Astra's point of view.

This didn't work however as Astra smirked saying."In the dragon empire we had buildings like this all over the place, guess I can't expect much from humans though."She paused for a moment then an enormous grin grew on her face."Actually, you're right this place isn't boring." As Astra was talking she glanced at Druaks surrounding and covered her mouth, trying not to laugh.

Druak just realised what Astra was doing. He had been yelling at Astra in the middle of the crowds of applicants and they were now laughing and talking amongst themselves about him.

"Do you think he's a crazy peasant trying to sneak in." "I mean look at him."The other responded while laughing. This continued for quite some time and Druak finally realised that only he could see Astra so everyone just saw him yelling at nothing.

Druak tried to cover his face with his hands as he approached the entrance of the academy. There was quite a large line so he was left there waiting for quite some time.

1hour later

It was still quite early in the morning but it was still getting rather tiring waiting around so Druak was glad that it was almost his turn, however just as he was about to register a hand grabbed his shoulder and threw him to the floor, pushing him away from the registration area.

As Druak turned his face he saw a young teenager probably 17 years old. He had blond hair that was slicked back and was rather tall but didn't seem to do much exercise as he had basically no muscle definition. There was also a crest of a snake on his chest which had caught his attention.

As Druak was glaring at the 17 year old boy who looked down at Druak in disgust, the boy spat on the ground and said."Filthy peasants, they don't know their place." The other 3 boys around him also laughed at Druak, who was now on the floor. He was about to get up but knew it wasn't a good idea to fight back just yet. This academy was well known for favouring nobles and if they found out Druak had a fight with one he would probably be the only one that would get expelled.

Druak eyes glinted a chilling blue as he glared at the back of the boy who was now walking away. "I'll remember this."Druak whispered as he got up and dusted himself off.

Druak kept a close eye on the family crest which was on the boy's chest and now knew exactly which family he was from, as he stared at the boy he also managed to gain a bit more information that made him rather happy.

Name: Krane Adder

Race: Human

Mana Core: {Intermediate Orange Core}

Mana Capacity: {Intermediate Orange Grade}

'Well this is handy, seems it works on other people as well but it also seems to have a much larger limit at the moment Druak knew that your class was also very important when it came to judging your strength so he knew it would be best to avoid this person for now, at least till he gets some more information about him.

"At least I know his name now…. this will be fun." Druak said as a slight grin appeared on his face.

Druak proceeded to register for the academy and had yet another incident, this one wasn't as bad as before but it still annoyed him and showed the huge bias within the academy.

This incident was when he spoke to the professor that was registering him. It started off normal, the professor asked a few simple questions such as where he was from and then it came to asking what noble family he was from. Druak respond honestly, saying that he wasn't part of one. After that, the professor scoffed and Druak could hear him say."Disgusting pest." Druak ignored this as he already knew how bad the academy was from his past life when he spoke about it with Isacc.

"Finally, I've managed to change something in this life, hopefully, I can live a better life than before." Druak didn't really have any goals at the moment and was just planning on getting stronger and hopefully living a better life than he did in his past life.

Druak walked through the halls of the academy that were lit by floating blue orbs. He was amazed at how they managed to get all of this magic to stay working, but for now, he needed to head to the exam hall.
