Chapter 17 - The Little Dragon

The monster's razor sharp legs were inches away from his face, he was getting ready to strike. However just as he moved for the strike the monster stooped once more, and then turned towards its nest. It seemed to notice something was different about it.

Druak saw this opportunity and used it to slip past the frostbite spider as quietly as possible.

He luckily managed to get past the monster without getting its attention. *Huff* He sighed in relief as he began running to the cave exit.

Just as he approached the exit a loud screech echoed through the cave, Druak ignored this and continued to exit the cave.

Finally free from the cave he started climbing back down from the mountain top.

6 hours later

After descending the mountain Druak decided it would be best if he absorbed the frostfire heart as soon as possible, but he first needed a place to confine himself from any external interference as it could cause irreversible damage to his mana veins and mana core.

It took him some time but he eventually found a good enough location, it was on a small rock which was in the middle of a lake. This took him almost an hour to swim across but it was worth it as it allowed him to absorb the ambient water element frostfire heart at the same time, this would hopefully make the effects of the frostfire heart even more abundant.

Druak crossed his legs and pulled out the container which held the frostfire heart.'This is probably going to hurt like hell.' He then opens the container, causing the entire lake to freeze over.

Druak had to act quickly or the frostfire heart would freeze him to death before he even had a chance to absorb it. He was already covered in ice and it was only getting worse.

He closed his eyes and began circulating his mana into the frostfire heart. *Bang* An explosion of mana escaped from the frostfire heart and began enveloping Druaks body, it was an astonishing sight the frigid mana glowed a luminescent blue as it slowly entered Druaks chests. The mana core was located within the heart so whenever someone absorbed mana it always went straight to the heart and then travelled through the body with the help of mana veins.

Druak's face grimmest as the frostfire heart disappeared into his chest, he tried to ignore the pain but it just kept getting worse, his veins began to bulge out and changed to a luminescent blue colour. All he could do was try and stay focused on absorbing the frostfire heart.

2 hours later

The mana continued to surge throughout his body. His eyes had been closed but because of the excruciating pain, he instinctively flung them open, blood pouring down his face.

"Aaaaa!!" The pain was so strong that Druak couldn't hold it in anymore, his body dropped to the ground. *Crack* As he fell an enormous crack formed in the frozen lake.

Druak's face went numb as he dropped, his eyes fluttered open and close till finally all the pain disappeared and everything went black.

As his eyes closed he felt the flow of mana rushing into him, it felt as if he was hit by a freezing cold tsunami with no way to break free. He pushed and pushed but no matter how hard he tried his body felt as if it would be swept away.

"I can't… brea…." Druak tried to catch his breath but each time he tried the force on his body just kept getting stronger. It was as if the frostfire heart was fighting against him.

The mana started changing as if it was alive. Druak watched as the mana within his body transformed into what seemed to be a small dragon with black and blue scales.

As he watched the mana transform it seemed to have some kind of sentience. It glared at Druak letting out a soft yet aggressive female voice."Are you the one who killed me!!! Where is my family, what have you done with my clansmen."

Druak didn't know what to do. 'Wait this is an actual baby dragon right. I thought almost all the dragons were already gone, how is it here." Druak had so many questions he wanted to ask but all he did was stare bewildered at what was before him.

The dragon didn't seem too happy that it was being ignored. Its mana began to flow towards a ginormous magical circle that was now directly in front of the Dragon, It seemed to be casting what appeared to be 5th tier magic.

This was all in his conscience but it felt as if it was completely real and could kill him instantly if it was launched.

"Wait, wait… I don't know what you're talking about. I just found a frostfire heart and was planning to use it to help increase my mana. I had no idea something like this would happen."Sweat began to fall from his brow. He knew this situation was extremely serious and didn't want to be as careful as possible.

"You're right, how could I have thought a human could possibly hope to do anything to the dragon race." The dragon said as it tried to escape Druaks conscience. It launched multiple attacks but nothing seemed to happen.

The dragon turned around and saw Druak lying on the floor in a pool of his own blood, it seemed that each time the dragon tried to break free it would also cause Druak excruciating pain.

"Oh so I'm inside your mana core, well that makes this easier."The dragon said as it continued to blast spells at the sea of mana that surrounded it. They had been floating on a giant sea of Druaks mana and the dragon was trying to destroy it.

"Wait, what if destroying this place also kills you." Druak said as he spat blood.

The dragon had stopped attacking and stood in place. As the dragon was thinking of what it would do Druak continued speaking, trying to find any way to stay alive."I will help you find your clansmen and family if you let me live, you have my word."

The dragon scoffed but after walking around a little more she said."Fine but you have to follow what I say and find a way to bring me back."

"I swear, as long as it doesn't harm anyone I care for, I will do as you say. So do we have a deal." Druak said, unintenually extending his hand.

As his hand extended the mana around the dragon began to swirl, forming what seemed to be a teenage human girl, the only difference was that she had scales across her arms which were a beautiful blue colour.

She was the most attractive woman Druak had ever seen, her hair was black with tints of blue and it was long enough to flow down her voluptuous body. However, Druak was more interested in living so he managed to ignore the visage before him.

"Deal, human." She said as she tilted her head up, almost as if she was looking down at him. She then took out her hand, giving Druak a hand shake.

Druak was slightly starstruck by the visage before him and seemed to only manage to say one word."Ok."
