Chapter 12 - The Light Come For Us 3

"Hi, Dad," said Lily when she met her father the next day.

"I didn't see you yesterday. Are you dating someone?" asked Mr. Graff Lily.

Lily did not respond to Mr. Graff's question. She faked her smile by biting her lip. Meanwhile, Mr. Graff looked at Lily and smiled wryly. "Oh, I understand. It looks like Matthew has a competitor now."

"It's not like that," said Lily quickly.

While Lily was avoiding Mr. Graff, suddenly Alona came into their room while singing cheerfully. "Hi, looks like you spent some time with Ryan." Her face immediately lit up when she saw Lily.

Lily immediately glanced at Mr. Graff leaning against their working room. Alona did not know that Mr. Graff was in the room because he was standing behind the door. Even so, she still teased Lily by mentioning Ryan's name. "You have to tell me. What did you guys do after dinner last night?"

Mr. Graff cleared his throat. He straightened up and walked over to Lily's desk. He smiled again as he looked at Lily.

"Morning, Mr. Graff. I didn't know you were here." Alona greets Mr. Graff slightly nervously.

"Thank you for the information, Lona," said Mr. Graff to Alona.

Alona smiled awkwardly after hearing Mr. Graff. She then glanced at Lily and whispered. "Sorry."

Lily nodded her head.

"So who's Ryan?" asked Mr. Graff on Lily.

"Someone I know. We met at Catherine's birthday party yesterday," answered Lily.

"He seems like an interesting man. Because I didn't see you here yesterday, it's weird to me," said Mr. Graff.

Lily took a deep breath. "Did something happen?"

Alona tried not to interrupt the conversation between Mr. Graff and Lily. She felt that there was something serious that Mr. Graff to Lily. Slowly, she stepped out of her working room and let Mr. Graff and Lily go back alone.

Mr. Graff sat at Lily's desk. He looked at Lily and took a deep breath. "Yesterday, Matthew's parents suddenly came. They asked us to find a medicine that could cure Matthew quickly."

Lily's eyes narrowed. "Why so suddenly? I'm still studying the cell."

"Isn't the serum you tested already showing good results?" asked Mr. Graff on Lily.

"Max must have told you the results, right?" Lily asked Mr. Graff. "My serum doesn't just destroy the cancer cells. But it also destroys the surrounding cells."

Mr. Graff nodded his head. He then stood back up. "Follow me. Maybe after seeing my recent trial, you will develop a solution for yourself."

Lily also stood up from her seat and followed Mr. Graff came out of her working room. The two walked quickly to Mr. Graff's laboratory under the storage room.

----

After Matthew entered their facility, Mr. Graff immediately took out the rabbit he had frozen in a mini cryonic tube. He moved the tube containing the rabbit into another, larger tube to begin the process of waking the rabbit from its long slumber.

Lily watched her father's every move carefully. Now She has seen Mr. Graff putting a yellowish liquid he had just taken out of the refrigerator into the large syringe in his hand.

After putting the liquid into the injection, Mr. Graff returned to the tube where his rabbit was. Mr. Graff smiled as he looked at Lily. "I was going to make this a birthday present for you. But, it seems I have to show it sooner."

Lily took a deep breath after hearing Mr. Graff. She became curious about the serum that his father had successfully created. It made her nervous when Mr. Graff started injecting his rabbit with his homemade serum.

"Watch this, Lily," said Mr. Graff after he finished injecting his serum into his rabbit's frozen body.

Lily followed Mr. Graff and noticed the rabbit in front of her. There are no significant signs after Mr. Graff injected his serum into the rabbit's body. "Does it have to wait a while for effect?"

Mr. Graff nodded his head. "Half to an hour. Only then will the effect of the serum be seen."

"You still use bat DNA as a mix?" Lily nodded slowly. She then looked back at the rabbit and the monitors monitoring the rabbit's vital signs.

"Yes, because the results of extracting bat DNA look very promising so far. These animals can be in a state of suspended animation when they hibernate. They may not even breathe at all. Just like what we did to Matthew's body," explained Mr. Graff.

Lily suddenly straightened up. "Dad?"

Mr. Graff laughed softly. "The effects are starting to show, right?"

Lily nodded her head as she looked at Mr. Graff with disbelief. "Your serum?"

"Watch it through," said Mr. Graff.

"Is this what I thought?" Lily asked her father.

Mr. Graff nodded his head. "Soon, you will see."

Lily took another deep breath. She then exhaled slowly and continued to give attention to the rabbit in front of her. Her eyes widened when she saw the rabbit in front of her suddenly tremble.

Her hands began to clench when the rabbit's vital signs in front of her began to show progress in a better direction. The rabbit's heart rate, which was very slow at first, slowly increased. Lily grew nervous when she saw the screen showing the interaction between nerve impulses in the rabbit's body.

"Dad, why don't you tell me earlier?" Lily asked. She started to smile when she saw the rabbit eyes in front of him begin to move.

"I already told you earlier. I want to make this a birthday present for you, "said Mr. Graff.

Lily then briefly turned her attention to Mr. Graff. "Looks like Santa come early this year."

Mr. Graff smirked at Lily. "I hope so. But, the results I get are not appropriate. I still have to fix it. That's why I brought you here."

Lily then turned her attention back to the rabbit in front of her. She smiled when she saw the rabbit had opened its eyes. The rabbit's red eyes stared at Lily. "Good morning, little bun."
