Chereads / The Moment We Meet / Chapter 6 - Dinner Time 1

Chapter 6 - Dinner Time 1

Lily was still looking at the cryonic tube that kept Matthew's body when the time on her watch was 5 PM. She sighed as she looked at her watch.

Matthew, who still closed his eyes, looked stunning in Lily's eyes. Matthew's brown hair and eyebrows took Lily's attention. And she was also very curious about how Matthew's eyes would shine when he opened his eyes. From the photo she saw, Matthew has beautiful olive-green eyes.

The Roman nose line and Matthew's plump lower lips make Lily curious. The eyes are framed by eyebrows that have a high arch. Sometimes Lily imagined how it felt when she kissed Matthew's lips.

Lily laughed as she imagined herself kissing Matthew's lower lip. "I will not give up on you. You will get your life back." She then put her hand on the glass window, which showed Matthew's face. She brought her face closer to the glass window and smiled at Matthew. "Until that happens, I implore you to be patient."

"I have to hurry." after saying her words, Lily removed her hand from the cryonic tube Matthew was inhabiting and immediately walked away from the storage room. Once again, she looked at her phone. She sighed when she looked at the time on her cellphone. It was almost 6 PM.

-----

"I'm already in front of your apartment," Ryan said when Lily answered the phone.

"I'm going down."

Ryan smiled after Lily turned off the phone. He then approached the door of the apartment building where Lily lived. His smile grew when he saw Lily walking out of the elevator.

The smile on Ryan's face grew wide as soon as Lily came out of her apartment building and walked over to him. "You kept your word."

"I never break my promise," said Lily.

Ryan smiled at Lily's words. "Shall we go now?"

"Unless you still want to stand here a little longer. We can go now," answered Lily.

The two of them then walked together along the sidewalk. Lily and Ryan's footsteps stopped when Ryan stopped next to a red Ferrari. Lily laughed at Ryan's car.

"Your car is good enough to attract girl's attention," Lily said.

Ryan smiled as he opened his car door for Lily. He then nodded slowly and invited Lily to get into his car. "Please."

Lily smiled back and got into Ryan's car. Not long after that, Ryan got into his car. They immediately went to the restaurant where Ryan had ordered dinner for the two of them.

----

"Mr. Anderson, table for two, right?" asked the waitress standing in front of the restaurant entrance.

Ryan nodded his head while smiling at Lily.

"Please follow me." The waitress then left his table and walked in front of Ryan to show him the table for Ryan and Lily.

Ryan and Lily walked behind the waitress. Lily glanced at Ryan, who was walking next to her. "You don't have to take me to an expensive restaurant like this."

Ryan turned to Lily. "I want to make a good impression on you. So that you don't refuse if I invite you to have dinner together again."

"I'll consider it. I don't have much free time," said Lily.

"But you took your time for me today," Ryan said.

The waitress who escorted Ryan and Lily pulled a chair near the window and invited Lily to sit on the chair. Lily immediately sat down in her chair. She then looked at Ryan, who was already sitting in front of her. "I took my time to keep my promise to you. I don't want to be labeled as a person who breaks promises."

"You seem very busy."

Lily nodded her head. "A little. I have to keep the promise I made twenty years ago."

Ryan frowned. "Wow, that's quite a long time for one promise."

"Yes, that is so." Lily then turned her attention to the scenery outside the window of the restaurant she was currently in.

The waitress brought a bottle of wine to Ryan and Lily. He then explained the wine he had brought to Ryan before. Then poured the wine into their glasses. However, Ryan's attention was not distracted from Lily, who was in front of him.

Ryan nodded slowly when the waitress finished pouring the wine into their glasses. "Thank you."

The waitress nodded back slowly and left Ryan and Lily's table again.

"What promise have you made twenty years ago?" Ryan asked.

Lily turned her attention back to Ryan. She nodded slowly. "I can't answer that."

"Why can't you answer it?"

"Because it will take a lot of time to tell."

"I have plenty of time for you right now," Ryan said.

Lily looked into Ryan's eyes. She then laughed softly. "You must be laughing if I tell you the story behind my promise that I made twenty years ago."

"Try me. I won't judge you," Ryan replied.
