Chapter 26 - A wall that stands to a hill

The two young male centaurs were quite pleased with their performance as they both released a hearty smirk from the side of their faces. I was drawn back by this, this was the first time seeing such expression on any of the centaurs' faces that it felt so alien and unsettling.

Do I prefer them to keep their hostile faces? I don't think I do, I do wish I'll see more in the future.

The giant centaur of dense water and flames lasted about seven seconds before it disappeared into nothing but that didn't hold back the excitement on our faces as we were convinced that they still have much to offer.

' Magic seems so fun!' I genuinely thought this, aside from the untainted beauty of this new place, magic was the second thing that made me forget home sometimes. It was certainly something I looked forward to learning and I do remember Miss Zephyr saying something about us having the potential to use magic.

The two horse-men magicians took back their previous stance, they bent their backs like they quickly wanted to pick something, and thrust their arms with their palms right on the earth's surface. What happened next was astounding as I expected it to be.

They had their bodies covered in some sort of visible light-blue aura and had their veins a lot more visible than usual with their muscles tensed.

Suddenly, they bent their hind limbs a bit like they wanted to leap, and then...

VOOOOOMMMMM

They went at an immense speed that my eyes couldn't follow.

" That speed had to have broken the sound barrier," I said in some sort of exaggeration, not sure I was right but they went pretty darn fast and the soil at which they trod had their deep hooves printed on them as they ran deep into the forest and immediately came back.

" It wouldn't be a stretch to claim that Mustapha, that was extremely fast, very fast that I couldn't have thought before they arrived here," Germaine said.

I didn't notice earlier, it seems that there were paths that they had made for them to plunge through, I'm certain the fairy king wouldn't want someone disturbing the animals and harming the plants over a test.

" Impressive, they indeed were fast, to move to the edge of the forest back here in an extraordinary short while is really really impressive. I'm proud of your youngsters Styri" the fairy king said.

Styri couldn't help but release a broad smile from his face and he bowed. The two that ran heard him speak as well and they looked quite proud of themselves as they had smiles on their faces.

The aura around their body had lessened and the bulging mass of muscles and strained veins returned to what they once were.

They walked back to the others, I guess they are done with their assessment and they had done so well.

Next came a team of four with two facing against each other with a bit of distance between them. Three males, with only a female centaur with blonde hair.

Suddenly they took stances like they were going to attack each with blows and then, they each launched linear projections of magic against each other simultaneously.

THIZZZZZZ

Steam suddenly came forth from them as they exchanged a strike of opposing elemental attacks against each other.

You know what they say, offense is the best defense. These centaurs seemed to get it though as two out of four launched a blast of flames while the other two countered with water and they went at it continuously, no one was falling back.

I thought 'Why aren't the ones with flames overpowering the others'.

For about two minutes, they still maintain their stance as a stream of pure water collides with a sea of flames.

Immediately they stopped, 'What was that about?'. I wanted to get to Miss Zephyr however, due to the sound of excitement and the numbers between us, I couldn't get her to shed some light here.

The four withdrew their position and went back to each other's side in a row of four.

" Are they going to race as the previous had done?"

Suddenly, they took the stance as the previous had done, enveloped their bodies with the similar blue aura, and then, they disappeared into the forest and they were back like they hadn't left here in the first place.

" Whoa, even seeing it the second time still makes me look up in awe," I said.

" We wouldn't need to worry about transportation if we could move that fast back at our place" Jake replied.

The four went off the opened space and the king congratulated them.

It was time for another set to have theirs, this time the remaining six all came out at once.

" Ohh, is this going to be the climax?!" Jane asked excitedly.

The six stood side the each other and suddenly, they thrust their arms with their palms opened against the soil and unlike the previous where it was just a preparation for the race, the ground at some distance from them was elevating, a huge thick wall came up and it continued to rise and rise until it cast a huge shadow over us and blocked our sight of the sun.

" What's the hell!!!" I shouted

They formed a massive wall that had a height comparable to a hill and immediately they withdrew it back to the ground at a high speed that the ground shook a little.
