Chapter 30 - Are those flames?

" Wind!" I yelled, perhaps it was a bit strange that a man of such age yelled in the forest alone with no lurking danger nearby. I was sure that screaming out the name wasn't needed but it helped me visualize what I wanted and it yielded results.

A gust of wind escaped my palm.

" Huh! that was different than I anticipated," I said and looked at the right palm which launched the spell. It was the same, I felt a rush of power when the magic came loose but it's totally normal now.

Again, I took a stance of concentration as I would like to say, however, I just stood still like a vertical plank with my eyes closed, and just like I rehearsed earlier, I drove my right palm forward.

>WHOOSH<

Another fairly violent gust of wind, it brushed away the leaves from the trees nearby and I heard some thumps made by fruits falling from the trees that caught up the force.

What I wanted was to create a gentle gust of wind, one that I can actively stir, just like Miss Zephyr's and my ridiculous mimicry earlier this morning.

" What am I getting wrong?" I looked up at the bright sky with my eyes squinted and my right palm shielding my eyes from the light.

The grassy smell invading my nostrils, the cool wind swaying my loose shirt and my still gaze at the pristine clouds above.

Although I felt eased and cool due to the scenery and peace when I got here at first, I was a bit agitated and excited that I lunged my arm seemingly violently but now, I feel totally filled up with serenity.

I didn't thrust my hand violently when I wanted to pet the beautiful creature neither did Miss Zephyr when she intends to give us a lift, then it came to mind, I was wrong.

I had been doing it wrong. I hypothesized that emotions play a role in magic and one's demeanor as well might be involved. I was being too rigid when I should have been flexible.

Having realized my mistake, I let out a deep sigh, shut my eyes tightly, and then opened them slowly.

My hands were released from the sides and they gently went forward inclining at an angle of almost ninety degrees to my arm, and then, I released my clenched palms.

Immediately I did so, a light gust of wind suddenly came up right in front of me, it was weak just like the one I accidentally performed the very first time, steadily with my palms opened, it started building up in volume and grew taller until it was half my height, and I was a man of around 1.8 meters.

" Whoaooaa!" I blurted with excitement.

My hands were still open and I maintained my position, the visible wind grew on and on, it looked like a mini-tornado almost as tall as I was.

I released my arms as I felt strangely tired and it was getting difficult to maintain my hands in the air, they were getting tired.

The magic spell had lasted about three minutes before I made it dissipate.

I took deep breaths hastily like I was out of breath.

" Whew, that was exhausting" I swiped the sweat around my face, I spotted a fairly shaded spot and went towards there.

" So cozy," I said feeling so comfortable.

A branchy tree provided shade against the hot sun where I laid.

My eyes were starting to feel drowsy and I couldn't control my eyelids from getting shut thus I slept.

>THUMMM THUMMM<

" What was that?!" I suddenly came awake, I looked up and saw nothing but the towering branches of the tree and at some centimeters to my side were two medium sized fruits still afresh.

' Those must have been what hit me'

Two little creatures hurriedly went towards it and they hastily took them, each taking one.

They were so fast that I couldn't really see them but they resembled rodents and into the bush, they went.

"Yahhh!" I yawned and stretched my hands wide.

" I must have slept, I guess it hasn't been for a while" Then I came out of the shade and noticed that it was still quite sunny.

'Doesn't seem like I even slept up to ten minutes' I thought this, I knew that any more would have incited the attention of my folks and if they were looking for me, they would have found me by now.

With the help of the landmarks I pointed earlier, I got back to the village.

I intended to either chat with the guys or continue my meditation but then I caught on to something totally surprising.

"Are those flames?"
