Chapter 34 - Out of control

" That can't be true" I said, trying to hide my feeling of elation. Despite almost crashing my first spell on my friends and possibly injuring them, I felt a sense of accomplishment, this thing magic, birthed a feeling I haven't felt in a long while.

" You say that but counteracted the ball of water like it was nothing. Just how long did you get your palms on that power?" I asked however Germaine just shot a hearty smirk.

" Let's give that another try"

This time, I slowly brought my two hands straight up in front of my chest, everyone had made way for me and the village passage was clear.

'Last time was a ball of water, time for something different, something not destructive, something serene and filled with life'

These thoughts went about in my head as I tried to discern the possible act of magic to be carried out.

'Yes, a tree. I'll go with that'

My eyes were shut once again, I couldn't help but reflexively shutting them as I went into deep concentration.

My breath became faster, beads of sweat dripped off my skin and then a rushing feeling of energy stormed from deep within my torso, something that I had not felt before. Like a river, it streamed steadily, not into my palms as I expected it but down to my feet.

I couldn't help but hold my breath once this sensation dawned on me, and then I let go, any longer and I would have passed out. I took deep heaves of breath and demanded water which Mustapha went in to bring.

' Where's it? It didn't work? This feeling of exhaustion couldn't have been for nothing' I thought skimming through the area. My friends appeared dumbfounded, they perhaps expected a flashy spell like the water ball I created earlier.

Slowly, little crack sounds came from about a meter from where I stood. The soil was protruding, its particles shifted slowly and a little twig emerged slowly, it went steadily and somewhat proudly, a few inches tall, a leaf swiftly grew from one of its branches, all green and young.

Right in the middle of the village passage, it stood halted at its seedling stage.

" Wow!.....I could only make wind gusts but you.. you created life" Mustapha said all excitedly.

I felt like his statement was a bit of a stretch, I mean, technically, I did create life but it wasn't like I was some god.

" Oh my God, I have to try this!" Jake yelled feeling all excited but just as he was about to swing his arm or whatever he wanted to do, Styri suddenly appeared at our backs instantly startling us.

" YAAH!" I yelled with my buttocks on the ground, the giant man-beast looked down at us, I wasn't sure if he meant to give us a condescending look but his face sure looked like it.

" Darn creatures, making a mess of things" he muttered.

' He spoke actual words' I looked up at him stunned but then the thought of Miss Zephyr being close by came up.

' Is Miss Zephyr nearby?' I glanced to my sides but I couldn't find her. I wasn't aware of how her spell works but so far, I could tell that she needed to be close so she should be close, if not then how was I able to understand the oldie?

He walked away soon after and we were left to our devices once more.

" Tch... I'll pummel that bastard once I get a hold of my magic" Jake said which was pretty ironic considering his scrawny figure.

" I want to try too" Belle said and took my spot whily I went to get a container for the little plant.

I got back with a little clay pot, I filled it with the loose soil I found in between our houses, that will do for the main time.

Belle was deep in concentration, her hands cupped to her chest. The breeze around us got slightly noticeable and her palms grew a blue glow, we in turn responded with elated looks.

" Looks good" I said.

The wind grew a little violent and the blue light on her hands grew brighter.

"I think you should tone it down a little" I said, I knew she probably wouldn't hear me either way.

The wind grew a lot more violent and was starting to pull us towards Bell.

" Stop Belle" I shouted, we all yelled for her to stop.

The clouds above her grew dark, the villagers are noticing now and they came out of their huts one by one.

Mustapha brought out his hand, it looked like he wanted to use a spell. From the thrust of his hand came a wind gust, strong enough to push Belle off her feet but not too violent to damage her.

>VOOM VOOM<

Two blasts of wind flew as Mustapha struggled to maintain his balance but just as they got close to Belle, the suctioning force around her forcefully neutralized the spell, dissipating it.

Her feet left the ground slowly until she was about 10 meters up in the air, the wind around her grew stronger, and thunder rumbled in the dark clouds above.

' Just where is that old fart when you need him'

I was standing firmly gazing up at Belle knowing that I can't do anything, I watched as the blue light within her grew brighter while she was in a trance state.

I bit my lip in frustration, I don't want them to hate us more than they already did.

Speaking of them, two Centaurs ran in our direction and stopped in our midst.

In unison, they stomped on the ground and giant spikes of rock grew up, two right beside her. I squinted my eyes from the distance trying to make full of what was happening and fighting against the sands trying to get into my eyes.

From the stands of stone morphed a protrusion which grew fast and steadily, it met with the resistance of force around her and still pushed through encasing her in a box.

Two towers with a box between them holding off Belle but alas, it wasn't meant to be as cracks appeared and the structure was blown apart.

The eruptive force she used was sent to us but the Centaur duo counteracted with layers of walls.

I heard grumbles and looked back to where it was coming from, it was Styri.

He waved his hands and huge serpentine bursts of water erupted from the ground and flew towards Belle.

The spell crashed on the whirlwind she was enveloped in and it was repelled.

" I have to use a bit of force," Styri said and surprisingly I could still get what he was saying.

" Ahhhh" Belle let out a cry like a beast in agony and the blue light on her palm grew brighter like it wanted to explode when suddenly, I caught a trail of light and then Belle In a bubble.

She wasn't moving anymore and the weather was back to normal.
