Chapter 31 – The emotions and soft speech.

Thin and soft Mana threads delivered it straight to where it was. He could see a wooden house that was both comfortable and warm. He realized that all this time, the way to get there was not as difficult as he thought.

'Perhaps I had not yet entered the age of maturity.'

The Saintess's house is connected to the shrine and the praying altar. Darren didn't let go of the Mana rope and held onto the Mana thread. Darren felt a breeze blowing from the front and followed by the sound of the door closing.

He looked back to be replaced by another place. His magic mana then disappeared, and he found a barrier that prevented him from getting in there.

The only way was to break it without waiting any more time to strike a small amount of force on his hands that felt like fragile glass.

[Kraak..kraak]

The memory that reminded Dareen of when those damn bandits caught him flashed through his mind, making Darren furious again until he gritted his teeth loudly.

How did they get into the sacred forest? Even though he had difficulty meeting the Saintesses while they were outsiders, Dareen saw a log house emitting smoke from the fireplace after walking for a while.

A shady tree was covered by a large tree in the front house, and butterflies were flying around the house each other.

Quickly he stood at the door and knocked loudly.

TOK!!

TOK!!

There was a knock on the door, and it didn't take long for a boy the same age to open the door for him. Jase, who didn't know that someone would be visiting, plus it was Darren, had a surprised look on his face because he thought maybe one of the Mana Controllers wanted to see his father.

"What are you doing here?" Jase asked curiously to find out the truth.

Darren was also surprised to see the figure who greeted him in a slightly curt state and crossed his arms.

"What a coincidence that you greeted me this time," he said happily.

"I want to borrow the Noah family's library." He added directly without further ado. The two stood facing each other as the guest waiting outside began to clear his throat, prompting Jase to open the door wider.

Jase told Darren to go inside to hear his explanation first. He followed the host's orders with pleasure without hesitation because Jase had been warmly welcomed there.

Nothing had changed since the last time he entered someone's house alone without permission, the same layout and the fireplace that seemed always to be burning in the kitchen and on the veranda. Neat and clean.

Jase approached the kitchen window, took a set of drinking utensils and an earthenware teapot, arranged it, put dry tea leaves, and arranged some sweet snacks on a beautiful tray filled with pink carvings.

The smell of brewed tea makes you feel calm. Besides the kitchen, there is a study table filled with several stacked books; some are still open.

'It's only natural that his response to opening the door is fast. Maybe he's studying there.' He thought to himself.

It didn't take long. The host served the dishes on the table.

"You want to borrow a book or something?" asked Jase, who had just poured himself a cup of tea and sat down, ensuring what he heard wasn't wrong.

"I want to read all the books in your family's library," Darren answered while drinking a delicious cup of tea.

"Do you know the rule that reading in the library of other Mana Controllers is taboo?" Jase said, researching.

"I know. That's why I asked for permission in advance to enter your library later." He answered and put the empty cup back down.

Jase was speechless - just sat pensively staring at Darren's cup of tea.

"I don't know. I'll try to ask dad first," he said again.

How much effort he tried to restrain this man in front of him would be of no use because all decisions depended on how his father would be as a Saintess.

But in his mind, he couldn't let strangers into his family's library. It was a sacred place that no one could enter. Even his mother was never seen there.

Important files, recorded family disgrace even essential things are all there.

Jase fumbled with worry, then decided to stand up and leave her behind to meet his father. He looked back to make sure the man didn't do any harm or trouble while he was there, still sitting quietly and eating some of the snacks in front of him.

The house owner is not seen after passing through the barriers there.

Darren's face is now starting to look around. "It turns out that this house is much bigger and wider than what it appears from the outside," said Darren himself, biting a snack.

As he walked into the room to meet his father, he kept lighting up how he would later tell his father and persuade him not to let Darren in there.

The large door that served as a link between the halls, Jase nervously grabbed the doorknob and opened it. He found the Saintess standing facing the window. The wet clothes at the bottom indicated that her father had just finished praying on the altar. His thick white beard revealed the characteristics of a wise person.

"Father..." Jase said as he walked over to his father was still with his back to him.

"Hmmm.. what's wrong, my son?" asked the Saintess still hadn't turned around.

"Darren came and..." he stopped.

"He… he wants to borrow our family library."

"Give him access," Saintess answered quickly.

"But father, there is no place that outsiders from our family can enter. Even mother is forbidden to go there," replied Jase, listening to his answer.

Feeling bubbling emotions without thinking about the state of who he was talking to, the young man immediately pursed his lips and didn't dare to raise his head again to speak with him for a second.

Saintess felt her child's excessive worry caused him to dislike the boy named Darren. Slowly turned to look at his only son was holding back shame. Jase just looked down weakly. A hand landed on his shoulder.

"It's okay, my son, sometimes there are things we can't avoid because the gods have arranged it, but that doesn't mean we can just hate it."

"If we disobey, then there will be worse things later."

"How about you accompany him to the library? He is also a guest that the gods sent to our family." replied the Saintess gently.

Hearing the gentle voice of his father made Jase even more embarrassed and almost made him cry. When he let out an emotion because he was angry with Darren for no reason and forgot about it to his father, the man in front of now hugged him tightly to calm him down.
