Chapter 37 - Useless competition

Seeing that where he was going to stay was comfortable, Darren got off the horse, followed by Jase also came down from there and led the horse and tied the horse next to the tree.

"Have you ever slept in the wild?" Darren asked, teasing Jase as he cleaned and tidied the place for them to sleep.

"Of course!" Jase said in an annoyed tone that suddenly shouted.

Darren just smiled. They left the capital in his mind after seeing Jase acting strange from the start. Darren was pleased with Jase's nature, who was very easy to work with.

Darren walked around the place for them to rest to look for firewood while looking around, just in case.

"Don't be angry," Darren replied, picking up dry sticks and twigs.

"I'm asking that because you are a Saintess candidate, your family might sue me for letting such a great candidate sleep in a forest infested with insects," Darren added, standing up and looking at Jase with a severe face.

It embarrassed Jase because his negative thoughts thought Darren was mocking him earlier. It turned out that Darren was thinking about the comfort of the two of them. Also, in Darren's mind, he didn't want to get into trouble with other Mana Control families to eliminate the awkwardness in Jase's mind. Jase went down the river, hoping there was a fish to catch for the two of them to have dinner.

Jase stood by the river, stretching his arms like someone about to sing a serious song, chanting a few spells, and then a magic circle appeared under Jase's feet.

The magic circle is half above the water and half on the bank along the river flow. A large gurgling of water appears, followed by the light in the magic circle.

The sunset and the white light that came out of the magic circle were so beautiful, coupled with the gurgling water that brought up a rainbow of colors around Jase.

Darren had just gathered dry logs to make a bonfire and arrived, curious what exactly Jase would do.

"Maybe he's practicing," said Darren as he arranged and piled up wood for a fire.

After being neatly arranged, Darren lit a fire to ignite the wood. A blue flame emerged from between his fingers with just a snap of a finger.

Burning wood and giving a boundary as stone around doesn't spread widely after the bonfire is lit. Darren walks over to Jase to inspect. Cold sweat runs down Jase's face.

"Does he rarely practice using his mana?" Darren asked himself.

"Until sweating like that on his face," he added again.

In Jase's body covered in Mana belonging to the Noah family, Darren worried about Jase's rush of water downstream of the river merging to form a vortex. It didn't take long for the vortex to release water bubbles and give rise to a water fairy.

The water elf that floated close to Jase and Jase's face, which looked exhausted, made Darren feel pity.

"What are you doing?" asked Darren, who was already near Jase.

Darren's arrival surprised Jase. He suddenly appeared beside Darren and saw the fine form that had just emerged from the water, finally understanding.

"You summoned a water fairy," said Darren, looking at the fairy.

All her bodies are light blue and transparent with the shape of a beautiful woman's body with red eyes that make Darren amazed by the translucent wings. Water drops will appear and fall down when she flaps her wings.

"It's so beautiful," said Darren, gazing closely at the water fairy.

"They (fairies) are creatures that are difficult to work with," said Jase, followed by a sigh.

"Is that true?" continued Darren curiously.

"Yesterday at my maturity ceremony, dad easily controlled them all to do human tasks and jobs," Darren added again to make sure.

Jase smiled wryly. Apparently, in Jase's view, Darren didn't know the strength that the Moore family had all along.

"What are you going to do with this elf?" Darren asked curiously.

"I asked her for help to catch fish in the water," Jase replied happily because he could beat Darren and show his excellent skills.

"Why not just a fishing rod or a spear?" Darren asked.

Jase, who listened to Darren's speech, was speechless, as if he couldn't catch a small fish, and ended up asking the water fairy for help. However, Jase, who didn't want to lose, finally made it clear to insist on his own argument.

Darren left Jase, and the water fairy there innocently rolled up his cloth pants and sleeves and went to put his things on the horse for safekeeping. He moved towards the river bank when the water touched the skin of his feet. It was calm. Darren walked until he was almost near the middle of the river. Jase is still busy with his business, talking to the fairies.

"Can you help me catch some fish here?" Jase asked hopefully.

The water fairy shook her head and turned the other way, looking at Darren. The elf pointed a hand at Darren.

"What's up with him?" Jase asked curiously.

"Are you telling me to catch fish like he did?" Jase asked, looking at Darren.

The fairy just nodded her head.

"Come on, help me. I want to appear useful with my strength as a potential successor to the Saintess." Jase said pitifully.

The water elf remained standing as if he had not wavered in the slightest, still pointing his finger at Darren.

Darren was catching fish with a wooden stick with a pointed tip focused on looking into the water to catch fish in the river carefully and carefully. Darren started looking for big fish for their dinner. The river water was clear, so they could see clearly the river rocks.

On the right side appeared a reasonably large fish. Darren quietly walked without making a sound and waves of water, approaching the fish slowly while holding his breath. Darren prepared to stick the pointed end of the wood to hit the fish.
