As everyone left the venue there was a member who remained behind. He wore a dark cloak that seemed to change around his body. He had a golden necklace around his neck that had many gems of different colours with a white one the size of an apple at the bottom. He was fast asleep and had been since the meeting began. He hated when the Council came together as only wanted to conduct his research in his laboratory.
He had only come out this time as he thought there would be some interesting specimens that his fellow celestials would bring along with themselves. He didn't bring anyone with him as he found no value in people that he wouldn't be allowed to experiment on. Instead, he brought an experiment from the past that had somehow survived. It was a small creature that was the size of a cat but instead of fur it had scales that covered it's body from he to toe.
The scales belonged to the Dragon bloodline and had been used on the creature. It had the tail of a Griffin but instead of one it had three. The creature had fangs like a vampire and the eerie feeling of undeath flowed from the creatures body and scared all that approached away. It had cuts and bruises all over it's body from the experiments but thanks to the cells of some Fae it had incredible regenerative abilities.
It was only thanks to the Fae cells that this creature was able to walk around. Without these cells the creature would have just been a mess of guts and blood on the floor. It was an intelligent creature and kept it's master in check by reminding him of his duties and all the experiments that he had partially finished before they lost control and destroyed everything. The creature approached it's master and leaped onto his lap.
Despite the size of the creature, it weighed two tons. The man had no idea how that had happened, so he just claimed it as his genius being superior to every other lifeform instead of saying it was an accident because his kind didn't have accidents happen. They were precise with their research and always knew what they were doing. As the creature landed on it's master's lap, there was a scream that spread throughout the whole building and outside.
"What the hell do you think you are doing, Jeffrey?" There was a red glow that shone from underneath the hood of the cloak. The man leaped up revealing his body underneath, which amounted to a pile of bones that had been held together for centuries. "You stupid animal, you could have given me a heart attack." The creature turned his head to the side in confusion.
"What do you mean, master? You don't have a heart, therefore you can't have a heart attack. Plus, you are the celestial of the Liches, there is no way you can die from me jumping on you." The Lich looked stunned for a second before regaining his composure and dust his cloak. When he stood up straight he reached 7'6. He was a massive man in life and thanks to his transformation into a Lich he had gotten taller.
"You are right, Jeffrey. Sorry I almost forgot. No, I didn't. I mean maybe, but definitely not." The creature looked even more confused as it's master made a fool out of himself. It had to deal with this on a regular basis, but it never thought it's master would be able to forget he was already dead.
"It's fine master, but we need to go and do some work now." The creature jumped done from where is master had been sitting a minute ago and walked towards the door on two legs. They belonged to a Phoenix and had 10cm claws that could pierce through any normal armor. The creature had wings instead of arms that were shaped like those of a bat.
"Wait a minute, Jeffrey." The creature turned around to look at it's master. "Aren't we supposed to be having a meeting with the other Celestials today. We can't go before they arrive otherwise they will say that I never pitched up." The creature looked at it's master and sighed.
"The meeting is already over master. When everyone arrived and you couldn't find anyone interesting you fell asleep, and the meeting happened without you. Don't worry, you can search my memory for what happened, but the problem is we were kicked out and only the Celestials stayed inside, and I don't know what happened, so you will have to ask someone to tell you what happened." The Lich looked dumbstruck.
"They did what without me. How could they do such a thing. I am the Celestial that represents the Liches! This is outrageous!" The Lich stopped and looked around. "Wait, where am I? Jeffrey what are you doing here. This isn't the lab. Did you escape again and come here? Wherever here is."
'Why am I the one who has to deal with this guy.' The creature thought to itself. "We were here for the Celestials meeting, but it is already finished, and we were heading home to carry on with your experiments." The creature said with a deep sigh. 'Why do Liches have to have such a bad memory.' The creature thought to itself.
Liches were highly intelligent beings that had found a way to be immortal so that they could continue their research, but they rarely cared about anything else that wasn't related to their magic. They forgot everything that wasn't related to their magical research and therefore had to write everything and everyone they came in contact with, or they would need someone to remind them of everything like Jeffrey did.
"Oh, that makes sense, I have some recollection of something like that." The Lich thought for a while and then looked at the door. "Oh well, let's go. There is no time to waste here with all my experiments happening for me." The Lich started to march towards the door when something caught the corner of his empty eye sockets.
He turned towards the table and looked at the hologram that was still fading away, "How interesting. I wonder if that is what I think it is." The Lich looked around for a second and then turned to Jeffrey, "Jeffrey, where have you been? I have been looking all over for you." The creature sighed deeply and walked towards the door.
"I'm sure you have been, but we need to go back to the laboratory now. Your experiments are waiting for you." The creature walked out the door and then a gateway back to the Lich's laboratory opened before him.
"Let's hurry along Jeffrey. Magical development waits for no one. Onward march my ingenious creature." 'I wonder what I was thinking about earlier.' The Lich thought to himself. The two of them walked through the gateway which closed behind them leaving nothing behind.
What the Lich had noticed was a small mark that was within the two life forces that were portrayed from within the young man's body. This was the main reason behind the Celestials only looking at it as only they would be able to see it. They didn't trust anyone with that knowledge as it was more important then the two separate life forces. It represented the mark of a Celestial and where Celestials drew their immense power but what the Lich had seen that no one else seemed to notice was that it was overlapping with something else.
