Chapter 18 - Test Subject (Part 2)

"Alright enough about my spells. Emily I want you to tell me if you could do the procedure, that I have just shown you, by yourself or would you need support from another student." Professor Nara looked straight into Emily's eyes as she pondered the question.

"I don't think I could. I don't believe I have enough mana to do all the spells and be able to keep focus like you did. I would need someone to support me if I were going to do something like that. I am sorry that I can not live up to your expectations professor." Emily said while hanging her head down in shame.

"Don't worry I am not upset with you. I just wanted an honest response which is what you gave me, so please raise her head, there is nothing t be ashamed of." Emily lifted her head with tears in her eyes because she felt that she was disappointing her old professor and the one she aspired to surpass in the future.

"Right then, I need you to find yourself a student who you can trust entirely. Once they understand that this has to be kept a secret then you can then teach them how to do the spell. You must divide it so you can utilise your strengths and the other students can help you where you aren't as strong. I would like your assistant to do most of the beginning work so that you have the strength to use my Tier 6 spell."

"You can't stop to take a break during the procedure, so I need you to practice these spells until the become second nature to you. You need to decrease the amount of mana that you use so that you can become more efficient and then eventually you'll be able to do the procedure by yourself." Professor Nara patted Emily on the head before looking up at Professor Adara.

"Okay Professor Adara could you please escort Emily to the nearest portal, so she can get back to her dorm." Professor Nara looked Professor Adara in the eyes, and she understood that she will need to come back to discuss details the students aren't allowed to hear. She took Emily by the hand and walked her out the room.

"You really think you can stop us with your mediocre magic and the help of a few students that have a little potential." The man in the chair said to Professor Nara

"Us? That's new. You said you were working alone and that there was no one paying you to do this." The man went pale when he realised his mistake. "Don't worry though. I already knew that someone was helping you because you don't have the smarts or the mana capable of making this poison. I can count on my hand how many potential suspects there are, and you are not included in this list."

Professor Nara walked up to the man and looked him in the eyes, "Also there is no need to worry about my students they are all excellent mages and will soon surpass me in the magical field, which will leave whoever you are working for in a worse position." Professor Nara stepped back and chuckled, "Not that any of this will matter because you won't see the end of it."

The man started laughing hysterically, "You're going to kill me, and what will that accomplish. It won't stop the people above me or the people who are infiltrating the school right now to kill those precious students of yours." Professor Nara looked shocked at the revelation, "Yes, those very students you said would stop us won't even get a chance." The man continued laughing as Professor Nara was walking out the door.

Professor Nara stopped at the door and looked back at the man, "I guess I should go stop your friends then. Tell them I say hi when you see them in hell." Professor Nara snapped his fingers and a small spark floated through the air towards the chair. It landed next to the man's feet and started to grow. A small flame started circling the chair and growing until there was a dragon head in front of the man and the rest of it's body surrounded his body. "Dragon Coil" Professor Nara said as he ran out of the room.

The dragon dived at the man's face with it's mouth open. The man screamed out in pain as the red and orange flames slowly burnt him to a crisp. As Professor Nara ran out of his lab at top speed he bumped into Professor Adara, who fell backwards from the impact. Professor Nara stopped his run to pick up Professor Adara, "Come on, get up. We need to go now the students are in danger."

Professor Adara looked at him confused, "What do you mean in danger. They are in the dorms, and we already caught the culprit." She grabbed Professor Nara's arm and pulled herself back onto her feet.

"There is no time to explain we have to get there now." Professor Nara started running towards the portals and Professor Adara followed him. He grabbed his communication amulet out his pocket and looked for Mrs Ferg's name. When he found it, he poured some mana into and then Mrs Ferg appeared in a hologram form above the amulet.

"Mrs Ferg, thank goodness you answered. There is no time for questions, all I need you to do is send the magical beasts to the year 6 dorm now. We are expecting unwanted guests there and some students lives are in danger." Professor Nara made the simplest explanation he could to get the urgency of the situation across to Mrs Ferg.

She nodded and responded, "Understood, do the other dorms need protection?" Professor Nara just nodded to focus on where he was going. Mrs Ferg ended the call and poured mana into a different name on her amulet. The call was answered, and Mrs Ferg spoke quickly, "Year 6 dorm under attack. Assistance needed urgently. Other dorms also need protection in case they are attacked.

The creature ended the call and let out a roar that could only be heard by certain creatures in the forest. It was a battle call to all those in close proximity to the Year 6 dorm. A few creatures woke up from this and immediately started running, leaping, and flying towards their respective destinations.
