Chapter 21 - Beasts vs Monsters (Part 3)

Outside the Year 6 dorm there was an army the same size as the one outside the Year 1 dorm. The housemaster had locked the students inside and was waiting for reinforcements. The monsters were attacking the building to try and get in when a lightning strike pushed them back from the door. The lightning receded back to the horns of a beautiful white bull.

The housemaster recognised the Beast as a Cretan Bull. It was a majestic white bull with silver horns that had a black tip which could poison it's foe. The bull's eyes were focused on it's next target. The goblins hesitated a little but then charged at the new enemy. The housemaster watched as in between the bull's horns, white sparks started to appear and connect to form an electrical line connecting both horns.

The bull poured more mana into it's horns and a ball of white electricity appeared in between it's horn. The bull turned it's attention to the approaching enemies and released the lightning ball at them. The ball of white light moved as fast as lightning and split into four separate lightning bolts that looked like snakes slithering through the sky. The four snakes opened their mouths and showed their fangs which grabbed onto the approaching goblins.

Once the snakes bite into the goblin a new one came out of it's head and charged at the opponent behind it. The snakes continued to connect to the enemies until there were 100 snakes connected to 100 enemies. The snakes moved so quickly that the goblins that were bit first only realised what had happened once the final goblins had been bit.

The goblins at the front looked at their shoulders where the snakes were attached and then the bull increased the mana output for it's spell. The snakes turned bright white with purple around the edges to a bright purple that turned all the victims attached to ash the second the bull increased it's mana output.

The Student Council members were watching the battle from the windows of their rooms. They were all amazed at the bull's delicate control of the air element to create and control the lightning bolts to such an extent. All of them could barely make a small lightning bolt and that would take all of their focus and deplete their mana because of the number of mistakes that they would make.

The bull stepped back from the carnage that it had created to prepare itself for what was coming next. In the eyes of the students the bull seemed invincible, but the bull knew better. It was stepping back to recover from the use of magic it had just performed. The spell it had cast was meant to scare the enemies and use that hesitation to it's advantage.

However, the remaining goblins and undead wolves were unfazed by the loss of their comrades. They continued to charge forward to take on the bull. The bull was confused at how it's enemies could just stand over their fallen comrades and just charge forward as if the bull had never performed it's best spell.

The bull then realised why the goblins and undead had such confidence, when a Grendel overshadowed it's comrades. The monstrosity was standing at a height of 25 feet and weighed roughly 300kg. It looked like a huge hideous ogre-like human with almost impenetrable leathery skin, large canine teeth with long nails at the ends of his claw-like hands.

It's skin was dark black and it's eyes were only visible as two slits on it's head. It had pointy ears like a goblin, but the edges curved back unlike a goblin. It's teeth were visible as the Grendel was salivated at the sight of a human filled building. The giant creature moved towards the building while the rest of the army parted ways for it to walk through. They all instinctively knew that if they got in it's way they would die.

The bull hesitated because Grendel's would never come to this area, and it was afraid as night had fallen so the Grendel would be at their full strength. Grendels were feared by all species because they had superhuman speed and an incredible fighting prowess. They would be able to move faster then most Beasts at night given the right conditions.

They had incredible force behind every one of their attacks because of the weight of their bodies. Grendels were not fat. They all had bodies that would shame the most elite bodies builders and their strength was far greater than any human and many Beasts struggled to challenge them. The bull knew that it had no chance against a Grendel especially fighting against one at night.

The bull knew this but did not move, whether it was out of fear or because it knew it was the only line of defense there to slow it down. The bull started charging it's horns with more lightning to attack and hopefully paralyze the Grendel when it felt an immense pressure against it. The Grendel hadn't moved from where it was, in fact it had stopped it's charge forward.

The Grendel was looking over towards the bull and the pressure the bull felt was the bloodlust of the Grendel. The bull had never felt such pressure on it before then and the reason for that was that anyone who felt the bloodlust of a Grendel wouldn't be able to tell the tale. The bull became afraid of the Grendel and lost it's focus on it's spell and it dispersed the energy that had built up.

The Grendel turned it's body towards the bull and looked it directly in the eyes. Before the bull could think of it's next move the Grendel was at its side and had fight the bull with all the force it had sending the bull flying. The bull rolled for a few metres before coming to stop a stop. It spat blood out it's mouth and checked it's body to see how severe the injuries were.

The Grendel had shattered it's ribs to pieces and it's left lung was punctured. The bull had internal bleeding and only had a few minutes to left to live. It focused all it's energy on healing it's damaged organs to ensure it's survival.
