The Phoenix opened a portal to it's home and nudged Professor Nara through. Once Professor Nara went through the portal his eyes lit up in wonder at the spectacle he was seeing. Humans were never allowed in Beast's homes and especially those of the most ancient and powerful ones. The home was an underground cave which had many tunnels leading to different exits and entrances and storerooms.
The Phoenix walked in behind the Professor and went down on of the tunnels to the main room. The Professor followed the Phoenix and what he found he couldn't believe. There was hordes of gold, artifacts, and magical metals that he had never seen before. His eyes lit up in greed and curiosity as he wanted to know how some of the artifacts worked and wanted to use some of the metals for his own good.
The Phoenix snapped it's fingers and brought the Professor back to reality. "Stop looking at my resources as they are your own and don't even think of trying to steal any because you would be dead before you would get to use them." The Phoenix looked the Professor dead in the eyes with a stern look and the Professor stepped back from the materials.
He gave a deep bow to the Phoenix, "I am so sorry that greed got the better of me, but I have never seen some of these materials and these artifacts are at another level compared to what we have in the Association." The Professor looked back at the artifacts and tried to compare them to his own creations and that of the best forgemasters in the world, but they were too far apart.
"Very well, I accept your apology but please take a seat so we can discuss what transpired today." A comfortable armchair appeared behind the Professor and a table with biscuits and a cup of coffee in front of him. He sat down and picked up the cup of coffee and a biscuit. "Now that you are all comfortable we can discuss everything. I want you to tell me everything you know about the monsters and the cloaked man that attacked you."
The Professor sat up straight and gathered his thoughts to come up with the best answer he could. "I'll start with the cloaked man. A few years back when I was making my name as a mage, a group of individuals approached me and asked if I would join them in their magical research to better improve the world. I didn't know who they were or what their true motives were so I had someone dig up as much information as they could on them."
"A few weeks later the person was dead, and I had little to no information on the group, so I declined their offer and went into hiding to do my research and stay away from any possible assassins. I continued my research until today and no approached me again from that group and I haven't been killed so I thought maybe it was an accident that killed that person. Then today when Marco and Charlotte were poisoned I started to have a bad feeling about something."
The Professor took a sip of his coffee and a bite out of the biscuit and then continued, "I knew that the research I had done was dangerous and that was why I had it classified to such an extent that only myself and a handful of others had access. The research was never made public, so I thought it was a thing of the past. When that cloaked man appeared and said he was from that Organisation the pieces started coming together and here we are now."
"Hmm," the Phoenix pondered on the Professor's words, 'If he is really telling the truth about being invited then this is worse then I thought.' "And what about the monsters that we fought today did you notice anything out of the ordinary?"
The Professor finished his coffee and placed it on the table, "I did but it was very strange. As far as my knowledge and the knowledge that humans have on monsters, what happened today should have been impossible. For example, I and anyone who has encountered an Ogre would say that they would never work with other monsters like goblins and undead."
"That is true well done. Beasts have the same thoughts as you humans as we have fought them more then you would have, and it is only those that escape our grasps that you end up fighting. What you seemed to have failed to notice was that the monsters were being controlled by other people besides the cloaked individual you saw. The were 1000km away but had full control of the monsters so that they kept moving towards their target and didn't fight each other."
"The only exception to this was the Grendel who was attacking the 6th Year Dormitory. Grendel have intelligence unlike the goblins, undead wolves, and the ogre. My theory is that they couldn't control the Grendel, but they could and did control the other monsters. If this theory is true then we are in a lot of trouble."
The Professor looked at the Phoenix confused, "What do you mean a lot of trouble. Even if they can control them they are still weak monsters that we have been killing for decades. I don't understand what you are so worried about." The Professor looked up and the giant Phoenix who was cleaning it's feathers.
"The problem is that that man was only Number 7 and the others that ran away from my detection were his disciples. I presume you don't know who The Seven so I will tell, but I must warn you that everything you here now is to not leave this room unless I say it can. Understood." The Phoenix looked down on the Professor.
"Understood, please continue."
"The Seven are the people who brought magic into this world and opened the portal for us Beast's and monsters to enter this world." The professor spat out the coffee from his cup onto the floor as he didn't know that magic was brought into the world. Th Phoenix sighed, "I guess I have to start even further back the I thought I would have too. Before I do, clean up that mess you made, it's disgusting." The Professor did as instructed and used water magic to collect all the split coffee and then darkness to destroy it and then stains on his clothes.
