Chapter 22 - Beasts vs Monsters (Part 4)

The Grendel turned towards the bull to ensure it's prey was dead but noticed it was still breathing. As the Grendel charged to finish off it's prey a giant stone wall appeared in front of the Grendel. The wall continued to circle around the Grendel until it was at the centre of a giant stone circle. The Grendel looked around at the encirclement around it.

It stood well over 50m tall and had a diameter of 100m. The Grendel was surprised at the height and then prepared for the enemy that had surrounded it. The encirclement was just tall enough that the Grendel could not jump out which meant that it's enemy had gauged it's power level just from the one attack it did.

However, the Grendel was paranoid for no reason as his enemies didn't know how high he could jump. They only made the encirclement as high as they could. The ground under the Grendel started to shake and what came out looked like two giant moles. They weren't actually moles, they were Moltaurs. They had the upper body of a mole and the lower body of bull.

The third moltaur appeared next to the bull and started casting magic on it to heal it and get it's life out of danger. "What are you doing, if that thing fights your younger brothers could die." The bull was more concerned about it's allies dying for it then it's own safety. In the bull's mind, it dying was better then two allies dying, which was logical but the moltaurs preferred not having it's allies die on them.

"Don't worry. As soon as I am done I will go help them. They are only there to slow it down before the others arrived. You are the one that shouldn't have come here like this. You were told you were too young to fight the main enemy. Once you can heal yourself I will leave, and you will stay out the fight no matter what." The moltaur looked into the bull's eyes with it's own milky white eyes.

The moltaur finished healing the bull and burrowed into the ground and headed for it's brothers inside the encirclement. Inside the encirclement the moltaurs were delaying the Grendel as much as they could. They were making the ground into mud when the Grendel charged to slow it down and burrowed down to escape for a second if necessary. They continued these tactic until their elder brother arrived.

Once they felt the ground shaking they both dived into the ground. The Grendel stood ready for any attack and was scanning it's surroundings for the slightest movement, while preparing it's best spells. Below the ground the moltaurs were doing the same, they were preparing their best spells and putting on their best equipment to limit the chance of death.

The moltaurs circled the Grendel from below until the reached the surface in a triangle formation around the Grendel. The Grendel looked around itself at the enemies and their new equipment. The equipment was all enchanted, their armor was top grade armor that was crafted by the best forgemaster in the forest and their weapons were enchanted elementally.

The first moltaur wield a giant axe that had handles on each side of it's of it, which only a moltaur could wield. His axe was enchanted with the fire element as it was it's second strongest element outside of earth, which moltaurs had a natural affinity for. There were lines of red crackling along the edge of the axe as the moltaur infused it will more mana.

The second moltaur had an enchanted armor as well as enchanted claws which covered it's existing claws. The claws were enchanted with darkness magic to inflict the most damage onto an opponent. The darkness element was the most destructive element out of the six known elements. It would sap the strength from the enemy and would poison them to prevent them from focusing on their opponent and to put all their focus on their wounds.

The oldest of the three moltaurs had a spear with a very unique tip. It was twisted around and around until it met with the point. Along the shaft of the spear there were lines of yellow light which represented the air element. These lines increased the speed of the of the spear and decreased the weight of it, so the moltaur could move even faster with it.

There was also some writing on it, which was a spell that had been infused into the spear. The spell made so that the spear would return to it's owner if were dropped or thrown during a fight. All the moltaur would have to do was whistle at a specific frequency and the weapon would fly into his hands.

The Grendel looked at it's opponents and realised that it wasn't going to be an easy fight. It started to smile as two short swords appeared in it's hands. In his left hand the short sword was enchanted with the darkness element and the one in his right hand was enchanted with the fire element. The Grendel called it's two blades the 'Swords of Destruction.'

It wasn't too wrong with it's description because both elements represented the elements of destruction. However, his two blades weren't the real blades but a rip off of the real pair. The Grendel readied itself for the fight while looking at it's opponents in the eyes, "Should we get started or are you going to stand there forever?" the Grendel said to it's opponents.

'Cheeky bastard.' The eldest moltaur thought to itself, 'He has seen that we are stalling for time and is now challenging us.' The moltaur looked across at it's two brothers and nodded. The three moltaurs readied their weapons. All they had to do was hold out the moltaur long enough for someone stronger to arrive.

The Grendel smiled and looked the oldest moltaur, "This is going to be fun. Don't die on me now." It said as it charged forward.
