The two walked for over two hours and so far, they had only met a few beasts that were easily beaten by Xin. The magical stones left behind by the beasts were also collected by Xin.
Throughout the two hours of the journey, they hadn't talked to each other too much, only sharing some polite small talks every now and then.
However, in those two hours, Wang GuiYing was still able to learn a lot about the man.
No matter what creature came their way, Xin would always step forward and protect Wang GuiYing. When asked, he simply said it was because Wang GuiYing was currently a healer with no attacking power. Wang GuiYing did not argue on the topic but he still couldn't help but compare Xin to Zhou Xinyi even now.
Zhou Xinyi would also step up and protect Wang GuiYing just like this so it was only natural that he felt a little nostalgic.
However, the loot left behind by the creature was always collected by Xin who had beaten the creature. He once again compared Zhou Xinyi and Xin on this as well.
Zhou Xinyi was someone who would divide the loot equally even if he was the one who had done all the hard work and sometimes, he would even divide it unequally, giving Wang GuiYing a larger portion of it.
Xin, on the other hand, was much different.
It was perhaps due to how alike, and at the same time, unlike he was to Zhou Xinyi that piqued Wang GuiYing's interest.
When the sky started getting dark, Wang GuiYing sighed as he finally asked, "By the way, Do you know where we are going?"
Xin nodded his head without saying anything.
"Where?"
"To find food."
"Eh?" Wang GuiYing's eyebrows creased together as he heard this response, "Do we have to walk so much for food...??"
Xin simply nodded his head as he confirmed it.
"Wait!" Wang GuiYing exclaimed and his footsteps came to a sudden halt as he raised his hand and asked, "If it's about food, why don't we just cut up and fry some beasts...? If you stop turning them into dust, that is."
Xin also stopped walking and thought about it seriously before he spoke, feeling a little unsure, "It would be edible...?"
Wang GuiYing pursed his lips into an unimpressed smile and looked at the man as he spoke, "We are inside a game. Do you expect us to get food poisoning here? Of course, it's edible! Anything that isn't poisonous is edible!"
"How would we know that the beast meat isn't poisonous?"
"Well, one of us can eat it!" Wang GuiYing beamed, "Trial and error would be the fastest option. If the one who eats doesn't die, the other can start eating as well."
"..." Xin looked at the man in disbelief as he heard this.
"And what if it is poisonous and one of us gets poisoned?" Xin asked.
"Then we curse our bad luck and say our goodbyes."
"..." Xin didn't know if he wanted to laugh or cry as he heard this.
Wang GuiYing... Was still quite the reckless type, wasn't he...?!
He really hadn't changed at all...
"Do you have a better plan?" Wang GuiYing crossed his arms as he asked, guessing that Xin was currently judging him for his idea.
Xin sighed as he spoke, "Why don't I eat it first, and if I get poisoned, you heal me."
Wang GuiYing's mouth formed a perfect 'o' as he heard this and it looked like he hadn't considered this idea at all.
He hated to admit it but this was clearly a much better and lesser risky plan than the one that he had proposed.
"Let's do that!" Wang GuiYing exclaimed enthusiastically, his eyes sparkling like that of a child.
Xin chuckled as he saw this reaction and patted the man's head. It was an unconscious action but it sure did make Wang GuiYing become self-conscious.
Wang GuiYing gulped as he tried to hide his ears which were blushing red.
Xin... Was once again reminding him of Zhou Xinyi!!
There were times when Zhou Xinyi would also pat his head exactly like this and the man's actions were completely unconscious and instinctual.
"There is a flying lion nearby," Xin spoke as he informed, "Stand back, I'm gonna call it over."
Before Wang GuiYing could even say anything, the winds rapidly started shifting and pushed Wang GuiYing a few steps back.
When he looked up at the sky, he could see that he wasn't even the one being dangerously attacked and targeted by that forceful wind, it was a lion that had two wings right behind its ears.
The winds put so much force and pressure on the creature that the creature couldn't even move freely to its own will and was being carried along with the wind like a kite with no string.
In just a few seconds, the creature was already right in front of him and although Xin could turn it into dust within a mere few seconds, he wasn't so ruthless this time.
With a flick of his fingers, Xin immediately chopped the creature up in perfect bite-sized pieces with only the sharp wind that he controlled.
It was a gruesome sight but Wang GuiYing was still attracted to see it.
That creature was probably not as easy to kill as Xin made it seem and Wang GuiYing knew that well. This was the very reason why he was so fascinated with Xin and the way the man fought.
"Now we just need fire to cook it," Wang GuiYing beamed as he looked around and Xin quietly nodded his head in agreement.
They collected a few dried sticks that they could find nearby and gathered them all together to provide fuel to the fire.
Wang GuiYing had no idea how to start a fire nor did he bring along a lighter so when the sticks were gathered up, he looked over at Xin with expectant eyes.
Xin sighed as he walked over but instead of starting a fire, Xin grabbed Wang GuiYing's hand and pulled him back.
"Eh?" Wang GuiYing muttered in confusion as he looked at Xin.
Xin didn't say anything and simply kept staring at the dried sticks, leaves, and moss that they had gathered.
Wang GuiYing's eyebrows creased together and a small frown formed on his face but he didn't bother making the man let go of his hand nor did he question anything.
In the very next moment, the ground beneath them started getting hotter and Xin pulled Wang GuiYing, and the two once again stepped backward.
A few more seconds passed and the steadily growing heat became hard not to notice. Eventually, Wang Guiying saw the gathered sticks lighting up all by themselves without any help and the heat coming from the ground immediately started dying down.
In the end, Wang GuiYing was left amazed and understood nothing of what had just happened.
He snapped his head towards Xin and innocently blinked as he waited for an explanation.
Xin could feel Wang GuiYing's eyes staring daggers into his face so he sighed and closed his eyes as he spoke, "I can control the earth and the earth's core is very hot."
Wang GuiYing's eyes widened as he heard this and although he felt as if he could understand it, he also felt as if he could not understand it at all.
However, he simply nodded his head and didn't ask any further questions 'cause even if the man were to explain in detail, he knew that he would still not be able to understand it.
At the moment, it was more important for him to cook the beast and eat.
Xin gave Wang GuiYing a flat stone which was surprisingly thin and almost looked like a flat frying pan.
It was clear that this stone had not been naturally made and instead, had been made by Xin using his powers.
Wang GuiYing placed the meat on top of the stone and placed it over the fire as he cooked the meat that they had procured.
The two sat next to each other and stared at the fire as they simply waited for the meat to be done.
A few minutes passed in silence and Wang GuiYing could no longer sit there without saying anything.
In the first place itself, he had never been the type to sit still.
"So where are you from?"
"..." Xin didn't bother responding as he heard this question.
Wang GuiYing pursed his lips into a thin line, "Don't wanna talk? That's okay."
Once again, silence was the only response he received.
"How about we play some drinking games?" Wang GuiYing beamed.
This time Xin sighed as he closed his eyes and folded his arms in front of him.
Wang GuiYing had been rejected yet again but he was not someone who would so easily admit defeat.
"Let's play truth and dare!~" The man beamed once again with a bright smile on his face.
"Let's play truth and dare," Xin replied without even bothering to open his eyes, "But I'll definitely ask you to reveal your feelings for Zhou Xinyi and you can't lie about it."
"..."
