Chapter 5 - Training academy

Classes finally ended and she was totally shocked when Mo Yuan suddenly appeared beside her with his bunch of friends from earlier.

"Hey blue eyes."

With a creased brow, she turned to them and spotted the one who called her that. He was the one who said something about sharing among friends in the cafeteria. She looked back at Mo Yuan and found he had packed her things in her bag. It was currently hanging on his left shoulder as he slung his arm around her. He led her through with the rest of his friends beside them as they passed through the hallway.

She was aware of the sudden change. Something felt different and foreign as she walked with the guys. She didn't feel isolated. There were people who accepted her for who she was. She liked this change, after all.

"Mo Yuan."

A voice rang out from the end of the hallway and they paused for a moment before turning around to see Jing Kerou standing with her hands on her hips. And worse, she looked really pissed.

Mo Yuan greeted reluctantly, "Oh, hi."

"What the hell are you doing?"

He frowned at her sudden outburst. "What do you want?"

"Who is she?" Jing Kerou bellowed, her eyes fleeting between her and Mo Yuan as she gave her a stinky eye. Mo Xin Er was sure if looks could kill, she would probably be six feet under.

"And since when did my affairs become yours to care about?" Jing Kerou seemed stunned and bit her lips probably in frustration as they turned to leave.

Jealousy pooled in her as she stared at his arm wrapped around Mo Xin Er protectively. She looked as they turned to leave before screaming, "Is it because of her? You rejected me because of her?"

"What nonsense are you spouting now?"

"Isn't it true? You rejected me because of this wimp."

"Do you think you're worth my attention?" He scoffed. "You think too highly of yourself. Let's go, sis."

He scoffed and walked off with her. Mo Xin Er could still hear Jing Kerou cursing and stomping her feet behind them.

"You don't like her?" she asked, glancing at the young man.

He snorted showing his disgust.

"I don't like her. She's too materialistic and proud"

Mo Xin Er smiled knowingly. "Most boys in school like her. She is the school belle"

"They don't see her true colors. She tried to coax my friends into setting me up with her."

"I don't like her one bit." One of his friends grunted from behind.

The sound of fists bumping resonated across the training room. A man stood on the stairs in his fitness attire and his hands fixed behind his back as he watched satisfactorily. It had been five months since her adoptive father signed her and Mo Yuan up in a fitness school. She learned karate and taekwondo but surprisingly, she easily got the hang of it. She could fend off most of her opponents without worry that even the trainer seemed to believe she must have had a few lessons before.

"Okay, enough. Pick your partners. I want to see you," the man ordered. And soon, they were all standing across each other. She looked around her and saw that she was left with a boy named Zach Yu. Her eyes narrowed as she looked at him. He was ranked the best fighter in the whole academy. She had an urge to curse. Why did she get paired with such a bigshot fighter? She of course, had no idea it would be the beginning of their friendship. Anyway, that's a tale of the future

She got into position, her left leg in front with the right stationed at the back. Her hands were in front of her, clenched tightly into fists. He smiled warmly and got into position too. A few seconds passed and the sound of the whistle been blown jolted her into action.

She sprang forward, her hands aiming to grip him by the leg. He pushed sideways, narrowly dodging her attack. He turned, inching forward as he tried to flip her. His hands gripped her waist in a death lock and she frowned from the intensity of the pain as she flipped, her leg aiming first and forced them to the ground. Her nimble legs held him by the neck as he forced her legs apart. She didn't seem to notice until she felt him hold her down in a shoulder blade position. She groaned in pain but couldn't scream as it was forbidden. They were not allowed to and she had also grown immune to it.

She could hear one of the trainees counting down to zero.

Urgency gripped her and she couldn't feel anything anymore as she snaked her leg across his, kicking his crotch. He howled in pain instinctively releasing and she tackled him to the ground in a death grip as the whistle was blown.

"Narrow escape," Mo Xin Er mumbled exhaustedly and slid off him. She heard him curse lowly and she turned to look at him.

"Damn you, Phantom," he cursed. Everyone was required to have an alias and she was Phantom.

"I'm so sorry. Are you okay?"

"I'm fine. Just don't do that again otherwise my granny will curse me for being unfilial if I can't produce off springs."

She laughed and soon they found themselves laughing together as she helped him up.
