"Isn't it a little childish to drink milkshake?" She heard from behind her and she turned, tilting her head slightly to look at the owner of the voice. A young man was standing a few feet away from her leaning on the wall. There were a few young boys also beside him.
Mo Xin Er replied sarcastically, "What… I stole yours?"
Li Xuan looked at the girl for a few moments and couldn't help but laugh. She had guts. He liked that about her.
"Aren't you a little childish?" He asked as he left the wall and walked towards her. Li Xuan knew he was being especially unreasonable but wasn't being unreasonable his specialty?
"It's not like I stole your family's asset. How is it your business?"
She huffed turning to walk away at the thought of how it would be satisfying to beat up these bunch of rich kids. She imagined herself putting on Maleficent's attire as she chased after a bunch of little turnip heads. She couldn't help but giggle at that thought.
Li Xuan grinned as he left his position and walked beside her. It had been extremely boring for him the past days and now that he found something interesting, he had no thoughts of letting her goal. He wanted to annoy her to the end.
"What do you want?" Mo Xin Er sighed when she noticed him following her. She really wanted to beat this rich brat up.
"What… am I walking on your father's property?" he snickered and she had the urge to kick his ass.
He even dared to retaliate with her own words. Fine. She would treat him like air.
She resumed her pace, her eyes constantly snooping around for a restaurant or food stall. Li Xuan couldn't help but smile as he walked behind her. It had been so long since he had such an air of freshness.
Maybe because he had always been surrounded by people who would constantly fawn around him and try to please him, that he found the girl very pleasing to the eye. She made him feel human again. He liked her and he wanted to be her friend.
Li Xuan glanced at her. "Are you hungry? Do you want me to take you to a good restaurant?"
"Mind your business," Mo Xin Er warned.
"It's not like I'll do anything to you." He laughed before mumbling, "Who wants to touch that flat runway of yours, anyway?"
"You really want to get beaten up, don't you?"
She lifted her leg and kicked his rear making him still for a moment before frowning in pain.
'Damn. She's so strong'
The scene played out amidst a lot of students and they couldn't help but laugh out loud. Some who knew him even said, "Isn't that Young Master Li? He tried to pick up girls and got beaten up for it."
Li Xuan gritted his teeth and decided to be magnanimous. He shouldn't beat girls. Anyway, the little turnip head had no idea he would be getting really beaten up the moment he tried that.
"Don't worry. I won't do anything to you. It's not like you can't fend me off even if I tried to. Bills on me," he persuaded and she finally stopped walking to look at him. She seemed to be contemplating. And truly, she was. She knew that she could easily beat him up if he does try to do something. Moreover, he was even paying the bills. He was such a rich kid, definitely he wouldn't be taking her to a shabby restaurant. It was totally a double win. Quality good for free. Why should she waste money when someone was willing to squander them anyway?
She clicked her tongue, walking behind me as she continued to walk behind him. They took a few turns and soon enough, they were standing in front of a lavish restaurant. It was donned all round with flowers that enticed her. Even though most of her habits were strict, she was still a girl who liked colorful things.
He led her to a seat and one of the waitresses came running towards them with a smile on her face. It seems the brat was a frequent costumer.
"Young Master Li, what would you like to eat?"
He turned towards her, "What do you want to eat?"
He handed her a menu and she quickly skimmed through it. Mo Xin Er's eyes brightened at some point and she read out, "Ris de Veau and lemon sauce."
"You eat French Food?" he asked curiously.
She nodded. Ever since she tasted it once, she had always been craving those weird sweetbreads again. She hadn't even expected them to be on the menu but she couldn't deny it was a good thought. There were at least a few French transfer students in the school. Also, it could be considered a form of Western food.
She replied with her eyes still fixated on the menu, "It's been long since I ate it"
"Oh." Li Xuan nodded in understanding before turning towards the waitress and said, "Bring her what she wants."
"And a glass of cocktail."
Li Xuan cocked his head slightly as he folded his knuckles. "You're one interesting person, you know?"
"Oh, really?" She asked in an indifferent tone
"Anyway, you should eat. I can foot the bill."
"Yeah, I know."
Mo Xin Er smiled. 'I don't plan on standing on ceremony anyway.'
"So what course are you studying?" he asked, his attention on her once again.
"You plan on studying them for me?"
She tilted her head in confusion and the always naughty Young Master Li couldn't help but wonder if he had begun to lose his touch. Weren't girls supposed to be docile and tender? They would always be meek in front of him that he would always wonder if they would break like glass. But the girl was totally acting way out of his expectations.
First, she didn't reject him when he said he would treat her. Most girls he met would first decline politely but still go with him. Second, when he asked personal things, they would begin to divulge information. Anyway, he liked her character this way. Not only would she be able to protect herself, 'him'(her self proclaimed brother) wouldn't have to worry much about her.
Yes, he liked her as a sister he didn't get to have. He had always wondered how it would feel like to have a sister. He had cousin sisters but he didn't like them because they never approached h8m with good thoughts in mind.
He snapped out of his thoughts and he widened his eyes at the sight in front of him. The large French dish was gone and there were three empty glasses placed on the table. She must have finished the first and ordered more when he was in a trance.
He gasped, "You finished that alone?"
"Of course. It was very tasty. Are you worried I will squander your money?" Mo Xin Er asked eyeing the empty plate.
"No. But are you comfortable eating so much food?"
"Of course."
He looked at her suspiciously but from her relaxed look and posture, he knew all was fine. Shaking his head with helplessness, he beckoned to one of the waitresses.
"Young Master Li." The waitress bowed, her hands behind her back.
"Pack up a box of red velvet foil cake for me."
The waitress nodded. "No problem, Young Master Li." And with that she scurried off leaving Mo Xin Er astounded.
"You also like cake?"
"No, I don't. It's for you."
"Me?" Mo Xin Er asked in confusion. Was this rich brat asking for a beating from his parents? Why would he squander so much money for a stranger? From what she knew, one box would be packed with twenty foil cakes. Anyway, since he was being so useful and respected his elders, she would pardon his previous acts.
They soon got up and left after he paid the bills. With a box of cake in hand, there was a slight smile on her face that made Li Xuan feel proud of himself. He didn't know she was such a foodie.
"Can you give me your number now?" Li Xuan asked with a flattering smile.
She frowned a little and turned to him. "No. A little kid like you shouldn't take advantage of others."
"…"
She held her box and began to walk away leaving a stunned Li Xuan standing there.
Li Xuan : 'Even her way of burning bridges is one of a kind'
She returned to her car totally exhausted after making sure she finished all her classes. She glanced at the map someone gave her and sighed. With a click of her car key, the engine sprang to life once again and she drove out. She suddenly remembered that she had made up her mind to tell her brother about what happened the other night. She pulled up the car and dialed his number and soon, he picked up the call.
Mo Yuan's voice entered her ears. "Hey, sis. You done?"
"Yeah."
"What's wrong? You sound weird," he asked and she felt more nervous.
"Nothing. I have something to say to you."
"What?"
Mo Xin Er couldn't help but feel scared. She knew her brother too well. Most of the times, he would bicker endlessly with her but she knew very well how possessive he was towards her.
She coughed lightly before saying, "Yesterday, something shocking happened… bla bla bla." And just like that she went on rambling and told him everything.
"So you mean, someone was shot at your hostel?"
She shook her head negatively, forgetting that he couldn't see her. "Nope. He drove into the driveway, already shot. I'm guessing he was being chased."
