Chapter 16 - How dare you touch him?

Lan Zhi glanced at the young lady beside him grinning cheekily, "So, you get to visit his house every day for two weeks. Damn, I bet you will be having a lot of girls on your tail in the next two weeks. You've got to gist me about it, you hear me?"

"Why should I?"

She tilted her head, a lazy ghost of a smile hanging around her lips.

"You can't be thinking of hiding the smut from me, are you?"

"Smut?"

"Anyway, I am the first person to know the beginning of your love story. Oh, I'm so flattered. I even got to stand so close to Lu Yichen," Lan Zhi grinned, fanning himself with his hands dramatically.

"What do you mean?"

"Oh. I can totally see the beginning of romance," he chuckled describing with his hand.

Mo Xin Er: Why do I feel he is not speaking Earth language?

"Stop talking nonsense and let's go."

He nodded and they walked towards the science building.

"What is your brother majoring in?"

"Computer science"

"Oh. Then, let's go there first."

He suddenly made a turn and she followed behind him cautiously. She had no idea where she was and could only rely on the signs she could see so she had to be very careful. As they walked through an alley, they could see a crowd of people gathered. She stopped.

Lan Zhi noticed her halt of steps and turned to look at her questioningly. "Is something wrong?"

Mo Xin Er's voice was low but cold as she turned towards the crowd. "I thought I saw someone familiar."

"Who?"

She remained quiet. Her eyes searching amongst the crowd as she approached them. Her steps faltered when she saw that person, her knuckles turning white at the sight she saw. He stood a few feet from her. His back was faced in her direction, thus, she knew he couldn't see her. His posture was erect, a total contrast to his usually relaxed demeanor. She knew it meant that he was either worried or angry. Judging by the cold aura oozing from him, it was probably the latter. But, there was something else that awed her. She could sense some other feeling. Was it… fear?

She couldn't make sense of what they were saying but what happened in the next moment totally jolted her awake. Her hand shot out faster than she could think. And then, her legs. Before she knew it, she was standing on the culprit's hand, her eyes narrowed menacingly. A loud cry burst out of his lips and she couldn't help but grind her shoe sole more in distaste.

"How dare you touch him?" she barked angrily making him flinch in fear and he shut his mouth.

"Xin Er," someone called out from behind her.

She stilled for a few seconds but didn't turn to look at him. Her expression was hardened as she threw one of the boys who had lunged at her over her shoulders. He landed on the crowd with a plop sound making his friends jolt backwards in horror.

All the people standing around them also backed away. She eyed a bulky man standing in front of the boys with a dark and gloomy expression on his face. No one knew how she did it but she was behind him in an instant, kicking his knee cap. He scrunched his brow in pain but he didn't crumble. She smirked. It turned out she was right. He was the gang leader. He turned to her blinded with anger and swung his fist at her. She ducked, her expression calm as she lowered herself slightly and wrapped her legs around his thigh. He glanced at his thigh in confusion before looking back at her but he didn't get to think for he was on the floor the next minute. She towered over him immediately, swinging her fist at his face. His face tilted from the impact and a side was red. There was an imprint on his face. His eyes slowly morphed into shock. She could see the fear slowly taking over him. She laughed angrily- she wasn't satisfied.

She was about to hit him again when a hand slowly grabbed hers midway. She squinted, turning to look at the person. Her eyes met his slightly pleading gaze and she slowly released her clenched fist. He looked worried making her sigh. She knew he didn't approach her earlier because he knew she was blind to anyone when angry.

Mo Yuan called cautiously, "Xin Er."

"Mo Yuan. Are you stupid? Don't you know there is something called defense? Couldn't you duck? What if that plank had hit you?"

"But I want to act the hero. I was going to beat him up and you just stole my limelight," he pouted, dissatisfaction on his face. Her eyes squinted dangerously and she turned to look at the men strewn all over the floor in pain. No one might have noticed but she knew her brother well enough. The edge at the end of his words and the strong hurt swirling in his eyes definitely contradicted his words. He was definitely not playing the hero.

Mo Yuan was a vibrant and optimistic person. He wouldn't get so angry or unhappy that easily unless it was totally extreme.

Anger clouded her gaze as she turned towards the leader again. He must be responsible for it. Swiftly, she threw a kick at his ribcage immediately. Mo Yuan gasped, hurriedly swooping her in his arms immediately.

"Xin Er, please."

His voice seemed to be at the verge of breaking and she turned to look at him. She sighed, grabbing his hand and led him out of the crowd ignoring the heated gazes of people on her. She walked past Lan Zhi who was looking at her in shock. But he still followed behind her.
