She heard and turned towards Fan Liuying who stood her hands akimbo as she tried to calm herself.
"I don't think so. Since, he's been shot then I think it's not very normal. I don't think he would want to involve the police," Mo Xin Er replied, returning her attention to the man in the car.
"Do you think he is a terrorist?"
Mo Xin Er's gaze deepened as she looked at the man. She didn't seem to think so. "No. He has a nice skin, well manicured nails and he is dressed so well. He is driving such an expensive car also. Moreover this university is not just somewhere anyone can come into. He is probably very influential. Let's just wait for his friend to come and get him. Also, you've to be very vigilant. We don't know if it is a ploy."
"Okay."
She turned to look at Fan Liuying muttering under her breath, " Do you think we are doing the right thing by not calling the police?"
"I don't know," Fan Liuying mumbled.
She was clueless too. It was meant to be just a simple eat out and they would come back to their room. She never expected such a scene. And she desperately wished, she was doing the right thing.
She was about to reply the girl again when a pair of lights flashed on their faces. They looked into the distance and saw a motorbike headed their way. Soon it sped and parked beside them. The rider was clothed all in black. He pulled his helmet off hurrying down from the bike and walked towards them. The moment he got in front of them, she watched as shock plastered on his face for a few seconds. She squinted, finding it suspicious. And before she could blink, it was gone.
He walked towards the car and after probably confirming he got the right person, he turned towards them.
He said, clasping his hand. "Thank you so much. And also for not the calling cops. I promise you'll not be implicated in anyway regarding this matter. To express my thanks, please accept this."
"If you need any help in the future, make sure to come looking for me. I'm very grateful," he said shoving a card into her hands and before she knew it, he got the man onto the passenger seat and placed his bike into the car before zooming off.
The girls stood dumbfounded and Mo Xin Er didn't seem to register the fact that he gave her a card. Their minds were revolving on how he clicked some things on the bike and it transformed into a notebook. It seemed to be an high level technology. They glanced at each other and could see the bewildered expression on each other's faces.
The next morning, she stepped out of her dorm room in her usual pair of black pants, hoodie and trainers. Her key was dangling in her left hand and her right hand held onto the strap of her backpack. She whistled lightly as she walked ignoring the heated gazes of girls who couldn't help but look at her. Her hair was packed in a ponytail, a total contrast to her boyish look. And if it were not for the outline of her shape and her long hair slightly showing from under the black hood, one would think she was a boy.
The moment she stepped out into the open driveway of her dorm, she stilled. Her eyes subconsciously went in the direction of the entrance. She couldn't help but feel nervous and her mind blank as the scene from the other night began replaying in her mind.
She could still remember that scene vividly as if it were playing out again, right in front of her eyes.
She muttered lowly under her breath, "I hope I did the right thing."
She shoved the thoughts down to the back of mind as she made her way to her car. With an hand on the door handle as she lowered herself into the car, and the other hand scrolling through her contacts. She clicked the right contact to video call and put the phone in the holder directly on the dashboard.
A turn of the key woke the engine and she veered the car out of the driveway. She glanced at the phone and smiled seeing her dad's face emerge on the screen amidst the sounds of things falling. She smiled knowingly – he was being clumsy again.
"Hi Dad," she muttered knowingly.
He seemed bashful as he gave her a smile. "Hey there, princess. You're driving?"
"I'm on my way to school"
"Okay," Mr. Mo mumbled distractedly as he eyed the mess on the floor.
Mo Xin Er noticed where his attention was and called out in concern, "I heard some things falling. Is everything okay over there?"
He scratched his head awkwardly and veered the phone in the direction of the floor as he showed her the while room. "Totally collided in the hotel's vase. Will be refunding the money before checking out later."
"Oh. But you said the partnership will be concluded in two days?" She asked. In the past eight months, the family business has been moving on well. It was a total contrast to when she first knew them. And like her mom would say, they were socialites. It was evident though. Owing to the way those rich ladies would come looking for her to chat and shop with.
"Some things went wrong the first day and my partner is being hot headed. However, I can handle him enough. I'll be sure to finish things up here in Imperial and go back home," he replied as he smiled into the camera.
"Alright, dad. Got to go," she muttered in reply.
He nodded, waving at her and soon the line got disconnected. She sighed, turning on music from the stereo as she drove.
As she pulled into her faculty's parking lot, her phone began to ring again. She glanced at it and saw Mo Yuan's face on the ID. She parked the car, releasing the grip of the holder from the phone as she accepted the call and placed it on her ear.
"Hey," she called out.
