.Mo Yuan's voice buzzed into her ears almost immediately. "Hey, sis. Good morning"
"Yeah, morning. Still at your dorm?"
"Yeah. I'm waiting for my room mate to finish up. His name is Qin Ju. He is in my faculty too," he said.
Mo Xin Er mumbled in understanding, "Oh, I see." As her gaze met the steering wheel, the image of the injured man sprawled on the wheel the other night, came to her mind.
"Where are you?" Mo Yuan called out sensing her distraction.
Mo Xin Er glanced at the doors she would soon be walking through as she observes several people walking in before replying, "At the entrance of my faculty. I've got Lit.125 this morning."
"Okay then. Catch up with you later."
"Right. I have some thing to tell you," she called out when she sensed that he was about to disconnect the call.
"What's that?"
Her breath hitched and she murmured nervously, "I'll tell you when I'm done."
"Okay."
"See ya." And with that, she disconnected the call.
She stepped out of the car, grabbing her backpack and made her way towards the tall building in front if her after turning on the car's security lock. As she walked, she found that the building's set up was confusing and she couldn't figure out where the lecture hall was. She stood in one of the hallways, a confused expression etched upon her face as she looked around. A boy walked towards her at that minute and she seized the chance to inquire.
She called out, "Hello."
The young man also paused, turning to her. "Hi"
"Erm… please do you know the way to the lecture room?"
"Which of the lecture rooms?" he asked.
"I don't know. I'm currently having Lit. 125."
He beamed, "Oh. Come along then. I'm also having Lit.125."
"Really? Oh thank goodness." She found herself smiling back enthusiastically.
The boy smiled leading the way and they walked side by side towards the hall.
He suddenly turned to her, his hand outstretched. "By the way, I'm Yun Shao."
Mo Xin Er gave him a polite smile as she shook hands with him. "Mo Xin Er"
"You've not been in class throughout the previous weeks?" he asked as they began to walk again.
"I just arrived yesterday."
"Oh. You've got some bits of catching up to do then."
"Thanks." She smiled lightly as they walked into the hall. There were a lot of people seated already. Some were sitting in groups, most were browsing through their phones. But what surprised her the most, was that there were only two seats left. She thanked the young man and walked towards one of the seats with her hands in her pockets.
When she pulled off her back, she noticed that there was someone beside her. His head was rested on the table and he only wriggled slightly on his seat making space for her. Pulling her bag off, she took her seat beside him. Soon enough, the teacher walked in and the class started.
It was only when the class began, did the person beside her, lift his head. He leaned back on the seat, clasping his hands. She had wanted to ask him about what she missed when she turned to face him, but she was in for a shock…
As her eyes met the young man beside her, she couldn't help but feel as if the gods were mocking her. She had been so sure that she won't be meeting this handsome 'nerd' anywhere and the gods decided to slap her in the face.
He seemed to have remembered who she was for he nodded curtly and she nodded in reply too. He just glanced at her once before turning to face the teacher again. He seemed so relaxed as he reclined back into his chair.
[Gosh, he is so handsome. I want to steal him home.] She heard a girl fawn beside her and she couldn't help but feel irritated.
'Why did she have to whisper so loud?' she complained in her heart totally forgetting about the fact that the girl was whispering.
Another backed her up also fawning, [The nation owes me such an handsome boyfriend.]
[Don't even dream. Do you even know who he is?]
[Who is he?]
[Where are you from? You don't even know the acting CEO of FX, Lu Yichen.] Clearly, this particular girl was feeling proud and decided to throw snide remarks at the others.
[What? Acting CEO? He is so young. Probably about two years older than me.]
[You dare to compare? Some people are just born with special privileges. Also, I heard he is very intelligent. He won a Nobel prize in 2018.]
[Damn! Should I just kidnap him?]
[They said he'll be elected as the CEO in two weeks]
[How do you even know this?]
She smiled gloatingly, [My cousin is friends with their butler's daughter]
"So, she basically told you to showcase a family's secrets in school," Mo Xin Er mumbled distastefully. She glanced at the person in question and found that he had a lazy smirk by the corner of his lips. She had no idea why he was smirking but she was definitely entranced by his face.
She was still staring at him when he suddenly turned to look at her. He mouthed, "I might totally charge you for staring."
"…"
So arrogant.
One has to pay to look at an hot specimen?
The moment she heard those words, she huffed and looked away making him laugh at how adorable she was.
They had zero interactions after that and immediately the class ended, she got up and hung her backpack on her shoulders and walked out of class.
She walked outside the hall and found herself in the hallway again. This time, she knew her way out. Her stomach growled lightly and she nearly cursed out of embarrassment. Truly, she hadn't eaten at all.
She looked around as she walked and sighed with relief when she came across a milkshake stall. In the next minute, she found herself standing in front of the stall owner as she collected three packs of milkshake. She knew it wouldn't do any good to her to take sugary things so early in the morning, but she convinced herself that she was hungry.
With a milkshake in hand and her backpack slung across her shoulder as she walked down the hallway, everyone who saw her felt that the scene was too contradicting.
"Isn't it a little childish to drink milkshake?"
