Luck was still busy trying to make sense of everything that was going on and there were a few things he still couldn't process mentally. "You mentioned this universe possess a system for me to use, how do I use that?"
[System - There are infinite realities and in every reality's there is a system. That system will follow a certain algorithm or a rule book if you will. It just depends on which universe your in and what guidelines the creator left behind for it.] "Do you know what this ones rules are then?
[System - As I already stated, really try to pay attention more. You have me now, so we won't need this universes internal system. We are in a unique situation where the rules of this reality will not limit us or help us for that matter.]
"I don't know if that is a good thing or a bad thing."
[System - Have a little faith, with a little luck and a lot of hard work your future will be limitless.] "Limitless, I like the sound of that"
Right about this time the door slides open and in comes none other than Humpty. She is panting, while looking around spastically. Clearly something isn't right with her. She see's Luck standing there and goes straight for him grabbing his arm. "Look I don't know if you can comprehend this but if you want to live, you have to come with me now." Luck decides to play dumb for the moment and just allows her to touch him, he nods his head and says "OK".
Happy that this is going better than she expected Humpty gives a ugly smile, "great, just follow me! the biomechanics lab has a hidden teleporter we can use and then we will be safely out of here." She starts hurrying back out the door and only turns her head long enough to make sure Luck was following along.
"I'm not sure what's going on, Luck says while catching up to her. Can you explain why I am in danger? Or why you decided to take the risk in coming to free me?"
The scientist in her is struggling to think about how Luck even knows how to speak or how he has the ability to reason at all. "Was he aware of his surroundings all that time he was in the pod and picked up our language then? That can't be!" She thinks, he only ever showed any sign of life briefly before he woke up. "Just what kind of brain is needed to actually learn a language and how to speak it after hearing a few words, but no that wouldn't explain his comprehension at all, as he would have no experience to use as a frame of reference."
"Get it together, I can figure all that out once we are out of here." For now I just need to keep him following me to the teleporter. "Look I don't know if you can understand this but soldiers from the military are raiding this base right now. If we don't make it out of here they will kill us, or at best take us captive. I might be ok, but you will be experimented on and dissected as soon as they learn what you are. Do you understand?"
Luck reply's "yeah." [System - actually this might be a good opportunity for us.] "What do you mean?" [System - we need souls remember? What better way to get them than through the military? Any military's purpose is to protect its people and resolve conflicts. That means war, and war means death and death equals power for us.]
"I see what your saying but what about what Humpty said, what happens when they find out I am not a normal human child?" [System - They won't, no matter what sort of testing they do I can make it appear so that nothing will raise a alarm, just keep a low profile till we are strong enough to stand alone. This is a golden opportunity here for us.]
"Alright, you seem confident let's go with your plan, after all I bet Humpty Dumpty here is probably the one who's wanting to experiment on me the most. Tell me though, why are you so confident anyway?" [System - did you forget who put you into that body and placed you here, news flash it was me.]
"Yeah that's a good point, let's go with your plan."
While Luck and his System were deciding what to do they reached the Biomechanics lab without incident. There they witnessed the massacre that had taken place. Humpty saw Asclepius corpse and the mass of her colleagues body's that had been warped into a ball that was a grotesque blend of flesh and metal. A cold chill ran down her spine at the sight of the thing. Then her body reacted to the smell of death mixed with oil and metal by projectile vomiting on the ball.
Luck had a different reaction to the scene though because as soon as he got close enough to the bodies his system was letting him know he could harvest the residual energy left behind. [System - would you like to convert these corpses into energy?] "You don't need to ask in the future, just do it, although I thought I would need to kill them personally, how does this even work?" [System - This is why you don't get paid to think. As long as the souls are still around, meaning the corpses are fresh we can make use of them. Just think of it as a added bonus.] "Can you make it more like a video game or something I can understand, this is confusing as hell not knowing anything."
[System - User has leveled up, User has leveled up, User has leveled up, User has leveled up, User has leveled up. How's that?] It said mockingly.
Luck was too distracted by the feeling of raw power being drawn inside himself, as the cells in his body were changing and growing stronger. His heart was pounding in his chest and he could see his veins start to bulge beneath his skin while strength flowed into his muscles. After a few seconds his heart calmed down and with it his veins disappeared back under his skin and only the feeling of strength remained.
