"I gained 5 levels at once? Isn't this cheating, I didn't even have to do anything." [System - Would you prefer to remain pathetic and weak, having to risk your life for small amounts of EXP before slowly getting stronger? Because that's what this universes system forces everyone else to do.]
[System - I know what your worried about, even in your games you cheated in most of them and without having to think or try hard, you would get bored quickly and quit without even finishing the game. Now isn't the time to think about that, you need to distribute your new attribute points first, and then we need to get rid of Humpty.]
A status screen appears before Luck, showing his name and below that is a little 3D chibi version of himself that shows his vitals and current equipment. To the right of that was a column with his attributes and near the bottom of the screen was his abilities. Currently there was a blinking number [5] to the right of his attributes and a plus + sign next to each attribute waiting to be used.
Physique 10+
Energy 12.5+
Aptitude 10+
Luck 12
"Will you explain the leveling up process to me pretty please." [System - Every time you level up, you will gain half a point automatically to your Energy. This bonus energy is a side effect from your mutant cells reacting to the energy I collect. That should not happen under normal conditions but your abilities are creating a type of synergy that is giving you some bonus points.
After acquiring enough energy or experience the universes system would use that stored power to evolve the user forcefully. Our system also works similar to this.]
"Ok but why can I not change my Luck value anymore? [System - Luck is something of a hidden modifier that effects the laws of casualty. Those laws are governed by the system in place here and we are outside that system so it won't effect us one way or another.]
Hearing the systems response Luck starts to lament over his initial starting choice having put both his points into a luck modifier that's invalid coupled with the Irony of his own name. Having no good or bad luck could be a type of luck in itself he thinks.
After pondering for a moment he feels that his physical strength is already extremely strong from his perspective. Especially for somebody that's supposed to be seven years old. Then because he was able to gain energy passively from what the system told him he decided that he wanted to test what (Aptitude) did so he put all 5 points into (Aptitude).
As his system was applying his upgrade, Luck felt like he had recovered from a hangover. Before he thought he felt fine, but now the him of a second ago - he would describe as being drunk, a metaphorical fog had been lifted and he could think clearly. At the same time he was more in tune with his body and he could feel that he had more control over his energy.
"Not bad at all, now let's deal with Humpty he said to himself." Humpty was just now wiping her mouth off with the sleeve of her robe, before turning around so that her back was facing Luck. "I'm sorry you had to see this, but now you know why we have to get out of here. Quickly help me look for teleporter, we don't have much time before the military comes back here." Thinking that he probably wouldn't know what the teleporter looked like she gives a brief description of it. "The teleporter will look like a small circular metal platform and have a triangle shaped insert in the middle."
Luck was only half paying attention to her and was instead thinking of how exactly he was going to deal with Humpty. She hadn't actually done anything bad to him, and from his memories she might have even helped with the creation of his body. She was also the first human being he had seen when he arrived, even if she was short, round and ugly he didn't have a grudge against her. After all she had come back for him and she got him out of his cell. If it was possible he would prefer to just quietly leave her behind and then link up with the military.
For now he decided to have a look around, he had never seen a teleporter before, that was something people only dreamed about back in his old life. [System - there is a source of energy hidden behind the wall about 20 feet to your left.] Wondering what the system was talking about he walked up the wall, and as best he could tell it was solid metal, nothing at all unusual about it.
[System - I need permission to use some energy, there is something behind this wall that I want, I promise it will be of great help to us.] "Ok, go ahead and do your thing." Luck was now really interested in whatever this was, he couldn't wait to see what could interest his system. When the system started tapping into his energy, he felt a warm sensation build up from his core and work its way down before a wave of pressure left the soles of his feet.
This continued to go on for a few moments and the supposedly solid metal wall was sinking into the floor. The entire process left him feeling winded, like he had been running a marathon. With a solid clinking noise the wall retracted fully into the floor revealing what was behind it.
There was a girl about 5"6 in height, platinum hair that fell to her chin covering one eye that glowed fuchsia in color. In between her platinum eyebrows was a hollow inverted triangle shaped marking that matched her eye color. Her lips were small and pink and her mouth was slightly open showing perfectly straight white teeth. Her neck was long and slender and right above her small breast's was another inverted triangle but unlike the small one on her head this one was solid and much larger. Most of her body was covered in a silver and blue skin tight armor that showed off a perfect hour glass figure that ended with long shapely legs sporting a pair of matching heeled boots.
If it wasn't for the seams on her face and a few other parts of her body showing where it connected or her glowing pinkish eyes with the pair of inverted triangles on her forehead and chest, Luck would have been sure she was a human. [System - permission to start remote linking?] "Do it", Luck replied with no hesitation. He didn't even need to ask what his system was up to because it was obvious, it wanted to use this Androids body as a host. [System - approximately 10 minutes until synchronization is complete.]
About 5 minutes had passed before Humpty comes waddling over in a hurry. As she gets closer she does a double take at the Android while standing beside Luck. "Get a good look boy, because that's the most expensive piece of scrap metal in the universe." Luck gives her a questioning look, "Do you know what this is?" "I don't know much about it, she replies impatiently. They called it (Eve) and it was supposed to revolutionize technology or something, however it doesn't work and nobody knows why." Seeing that Luck doesn't budge after hearing that she continues.
"Look boy, do you remember all those dead people by the entrance, if there was anything they were willing to fight and die for it would be this thing. Speaking of which I found the teleporter and came to get you, now let's get going before we suffer the same fate as them."
Needing to stall for a few more minutes Luck turns to Humpty, looking her dead in the eye he asks with a serious face "Are you my mommy?" Humpty is visibly startled by the question. Not knowing how to respond she takes a moment to think about what she should say. The question actually bothers her more than she thought, maybe not in a traditional way she did help bring him to life and she has spent years watching him grow. She never thought a experiment would be asking her a question like this.
"I was planning on selling him to the highest bidder along with all my research notes, but if I take that Android with me and sell that thing instead there's no doubt that it would fetch a astronomical amount of money. With that kind of money I can keep the boy and buy my own lab or I can sell them both and do whatever I want. God must be looking out for me because this my lucky day!"
Meanwhile time was passing by while Humpty was lost in her thoughts. [System - Synchronization complete]
