Chapter 23 - Pacts And Servants Part One

Fate followed behind Jean, keeping her head lowered and staying a few steps behind as if Jean was forcing Fate to follow her. They walked through the academy to one of the dorm buildings. This building was different from the normal dorms. It was a large building with five floors. The outside did not look any different than the rest, but the way the inside was set up was very different. There was a security booth at the entrance, along with a special neural lock to open the door. The guard only took a look at Jean as she walked up before going back to what he was doing. When they reached the door, Jean placed her hand on a plate that sent a signal through her arm. It connected to her brain, where she would then send a password signal back to the plate.

"Come." Jean said as the door slid open.

Fate didn't say a word as she followed Jean through the door. The downstairs of the building was like a large lounge. Light filtered in from the large one-way windows that only allowed people to see out and not in. From the outside, it looked as if the wall was nothing but brick instead of a window. Beside the lounge, there was a large kitchen with chefs, Servant quarters, and recreation areas. Besides that, there were four elevators, each one leading to only one floor. The floors above were actually the dorm rooms for those deemed the most important in the academy. In this building at this time, there were only two people living here. Jean was one of them. The other was her friend that they were going to meet.

Jean walked over to the first elevator and pressed a button on the panel to its side. "Shae, let me up."

After a few seconds, a response could be heard from the small speaker. Above it was a small screen showing a video of a girl with black messy hair and two floppy rabbit ears on her head. "You're here already? Alright. Wait... Isn't that? You two need to hurry up. I have information for the both of you." Jean looked at Fate only to see Fate's eyes faintly glowing red. Cold sweat rolled down her back as she gulped some saliva and walked into the now open elevator door.

The elevator was nothing more than a small room with a portal built into the wall. Both Jean and Fate walked through it and entered a large room that seemed to be covered in computer screens. "Good, you're here." Shae walked over. She had on a black oversized hoodie that went down to her knees. Her black hair hung messily down over her shoulders, and her ears flopped over to the front of her forehead, flattened by how her hood was up. Her silver eyes contrasted well with her dark hair. Her skin was snow-white as if it had never seen the light of day. It could almost compare to Fate's complexion she gained after becoming a vampire. She was short, even shorter than Fate. Her snow-white feet treaded lightly across the carpet while she walked over, sucking on a lollipop.

"You two need to se..." Shae couldn't even finish her words when Fate appeared in front of her as if she was going to strike.

"Fate, wait!" Jean yelled out. "Please don't hurt her. We need her."

Fate, whose hand was centimeters from grabbing Shae by the throat, stopped short. "If you tell me my information was leaked, I will end my deal right here and now and make you both submit to me."

Shae had almost choked on her lollipop. Beads of sweat began to form on her forehead. She never thought she would get attacked out of nowhere. She calmed herself down and forced a smile as she said: "No! Your information was not leaked, but there is something strange I found when I went to make you a false entry. Come, take a look. "

Fate gave a questioning look and followed Shae over to a screen that had a picture of her on it, but the information to the side was different.

[Name: Fate Vampiria]

[Age: 16]

[Date of Birth Year 372 AT, 23rd Day, March]

[Race: Demon]

[Elemental Ability] Fire

"This!?" Fate looked at the details and at the last name that was given to her before she coldly looked at Shae.

Shae quickly waved her hands in front of her as she said: "This wasn't me! I would never be so stupid to make your last name so close to your real race. Whoever did this wanted you to know that they knew! For whatever reason, they are covering up your real identity. Who they are, I do not know."

Fate eased her expression and looked at Shae, then at Jean. "Whatever. For now, let's get this pact thing over with, and then I will explain to you two what I need from you."

"Pact? Yeah, sure!" Shae quickly nodded her head. Ever since Jean walked through the door with this girl, Shae had felt Jean was acting strangely. For Jean, who was one of the strongest students in the school to show such a reaction to someone meant that this person was not someone they could act carelessly with. So hearing the word pact actually made Shae feel much more relaxed. This meant things were not as bad if everyone trusted each other.

Jean smiled and had Fate follow her to sit on a couch as she began to explain what pacts were. "Pacts are actually quite simple and do not require much. Actually, it would be best to show you." Jean took out a device and spoke a few words. A few minutes later, someone contacted the apartment, notifying Shae that a package had arrived.

The package was a small box, and inside, it contained a small vial with a blue liquid. "Fate, this is called soul fluid. Contrary to its name, it is not made of souls. However, it is a kind of magic liquid that, when written into a contract in the air, and a drop of blood of all parties involved is dripped onto it. It will bind the souls of each person according to the contract. In this case, the three of us."

Fate looked at the bottle of blue liquid with a bit of doubt in her eyes. "I will say this now. No matter what, if this crap does anything to me, I will take you two out with me."

"I understand." Jean said before thinking for a minute and continuing: "To rest your mind at ease, I am willing to become your servant without the pact. Only Shae needs to sign it. From what I know, you can make me your servant, and I will be absolutely obedient to you, correct? I only ask that you please help my family rise. In return, not only will I be your servant, but I will also be a servant with a powerful background, and as the next head of the family, you will have full control." Jean knew that Fate did not trust them. Jean also knew she needed Fate's help no matter what. She did not even mind becoming a servant if it meant that she could accomplish her goals.

"Hmmm..." Fate thought for a moment. She was not unreasonable. She knew that Jean had goals and ambitions for her family. She would not keep her from doing such things even as a servant, but the one thing she did not know was what happens to a trinity that turns. "Before I can even turn you, I would need to test it on another trinity first. Since I do not know if you will be stripped of your current stats and abilities, your race may also change."

"I see... " Jean lowered her head in deep thought. She couldn't think of any solutions to this right now.

"Bring that bitch Ella here. Either way, I need her as my servant. She has a big role to play in my own plans." Fate suddenly said. Since she needed the bitch as her servant anyway, there was no reason not to use her as a test subject to determine what happens to trinities when they turn.

"That's easy enough." Jean smiled and made another call without hesitation.

"Ummm… May I speak?" Shae suddenly raised her hand and spoke up after being quiet for so long.

"Hmmm?" Fate looked at Shae, who shrank back slightly before saying: "I am just wondering. Jean, you will lose any ability to go against Fate, am I right? You will have to follow all her commands? This means you are basically a slave to her. Are you sure you want to become her servant? The pact will only restrict you from harming Fate, but you will still have your own free will."

"Shae, as long as I can raise my family to the top, I do not care about what happens to me. My family has suffered so much from the oppression of those more prestigious families. This tournament is just the start of my family's rise. And Fate is different from us. She can suppress me with ease. I couldn't do anything to her. Her power is amazing. As long as she is willing to help me, I will serve her without question. If becoming her servant will earn her trust, then so be it as long as she still lets me help my family." Jean's eyes showed no hint of wavering as she spoke.

Fate also knew what she was doing was nothing less than making Jean her slave, but she could not trust trinities. For her own safety, she would use Jean as a means to make sure the pact wouldn't do anything to her. By also doing this, it meant she would gain a strong backing. She would allow Jean to do as she pleases and build her family up. That Jean's family rising up through the ranks would be a good thing for her. 'It seems I will need to raise my charm by a lot.' A thought came to Fate's mind. 'If I build my own force…'

While Fate was lost in thought, a notification came from the guard outside. "She's here."
