Trinity felt exhausted. She had spent hours upon hours reciting the incantation that Lucifer drilled into her, ensuring that she had it memorized. Now that she was back in her own body, her mind felt tired as if it hadn't rested enough. She yawned and stretched before snuggling deeper into her pillow.
"Trinity!" someone exclaimed as they began shaking her back and forth.
She felt annoyed. Why would anyone be shaking her? 'Just let me sleep!' she thought silently to herself.
A muffled voice could be heard through her clouded mind, calling her again. 'Dad?' Why did he sound so concerned? Hesitantly she struggled to pry open her eyes. "Dad? What's wrong?" she whispered meekly.
"'What's wrong'?" her father repeated. He wrapped Trinity in a hug, holding her tight.
"Dad, you're smothering me!" Trinity teased as she yawned once more.
Father Kiran let his daughter go and stared at her with worry in his eyes. "Trinity, you've been passed out for over twenty-four hours! I thought something had happened to you!"
He backed up to allow his daughter to sit up. "You seemed almost like you were dead. Your heart was barely beating so faintly as if it was just barely pumping what your body needed to be kept alive. With everything you have been through lately, I feared you had fallen into a coma or worse. It scared the crap outta me! Even when you had slept for two days straight, you never once appeared as if you were almost dead."
"I'm fine, dad! I promise!" Trinity sat up and she realized she was back inside of her room. Her dad must have moved her to her bed and out from under the dining room table. If that was so, then it meant that the earthquake was no longer considered an issue anymore. However, something definitely felt different now. What was it? "The earthquake? How bad was it? Did it get worse?"
Her father waved his hand back and forth and spoke with small shushing noises as she ambushed him with questions. "It's ok. The worst of it is all behind us now. It's stopped!"
That didn't make any sense. 'It stopped? But I haven't even been able to locate Zyxel yet to perform the fix for the link that Lucifer instructed me. How did everything just stop? Is this what Lucifer meant when he told me not to hate Zyxel?'
She wondered just how a demon eating sin from a living host would look like. If they required Hellfire to properly remove sin from a soul, then extracting it from a living host without it couldn't be a pretty sight to see. She would have to mentally prepare herself for the worst before she went looking for Zyxel later.
As she was pondering over the different possibilities as to how a demon would be able to extract sin from the living, Trinity's stomach let out a loud growl, which made her father burst out in laughter.
"Maybe I shouldn't have been so worried after all! I'm gonna say that is an excellent sign that you are feeling better now! It seems that whatever was affecting your body before, appears to have passed! I guess all you really needed was an extensive rest and rejuvenation after everything you experienced. It makes sense. I shouldn't have gotten myself so worked up with worry. But can you blame me? Come on, let's get you up. Get yourself dressed and I will be inside the kitchen cooking you breakfast."
Trinity grinned nervously at her father. "This time, let's have a bowl ready in advance, just in case. But I do think that I am feeling better now after the second rest. Although, I am still pretty tired! Still, at least it's an improvement over before." She smiled innocently at her father, hoping he wouldn't dig too much further into the topic. She didn't need him keeping her locked in a cocoon if she was to help Zyxel.
Trinity felt her stomach. The sensation she had been feeling before like her stomach was twisted into knots, was no longer there anymore. Just normal hunger pains. She also realized that she was no longer sweating either. She felt her forehead and realized she was no longer burning up.
Before her father was able to leave her room, she recalled a particular item that was missing from her room before. "Wait, dad?" She bit her lower lip nervously, not knowing how to ask. "What did you do with my staff?"
Her father didn't seem upset by her question at all. Rather, he just held his head up high as he met his daughter's gaze. "I gave it to Amara and she had it destroyed. Neither of us wanted to run the risk of him influencing you further through the use of a potentially spelled item."
Her blood boiled at those words. What right did he have to destroy her things! But before she could protest his actions, her father was already walking out the door.
'Just focus on getting dressed and eating, then you can go out and find Zyxel!' She opened up her dresser and pulled out a change of clothes before finally brushing her hair.
As she walked out into the living room, she noticed the t.v. was turned onto the News station and her father was still cooking in the kitchen. So while she waited for her father to finish, she sat down to observe how bad all of the damage that might have occurred recently, while she had been passed out and delirious.
[Major damages have been reported throughout the city due to these freak storms. All over town, many of our streets have been torn up by the most recent ravaging earthquakes, and many houses have been demolished as a result. The total number of injured is currently sitting at over one thousand, and is still on the rise. It is expected to get higher as more people come forward. So far the death totals have reached upwards of two hundred who have lost their lives to these unfortunate circumstances. Hopefully this is the last of these tragic events that have occurred over these past few days.]
Trinity gasped as she watched the images of all the deaths and damages that had ensued over the town due to the storms. "Dad, have you seen this yet?"
Father Kiran nodded. "They have been talking about it all morning. The numbers just keep rising as they are informed about new information." He reached up and rubbed at the temple on his forehead. "I feel so helpless, when we know the source of who is causing this, but yet I can do nothing about it!"
Trinity frowned. "So then, did Amara say what caused it to just stop all of a sudden?"
Her father just shook his head. "I wish we knew! Even Amara appeared to be surprised when everything just stopped. She had been working hard to combat the destruction that the demon was causing. But she hadn't expected for everything to just cease all at once."
She knew how her father was going to react, so she braced herself for what she was about to say next. She felt that she had to at least try. "Dad what if, what Zyxel is doing, isn't his fault? What if something happened and he can't control the things that are going on?"
Her father dropped the cooking utensil that he was using. His hand seemed to be visibly shaking. His voice became very stern as he spoke next. "Trinity, I know that he has warped your mind, and I am trying my hardest to keep my patience and understanding about what all you must have experienced when he held you captive. But please, do not attempt to reason with me in regards to his actions. His actions have only proven himself to be violent and aggressive. There is no goodness when it comes to anything he has done!"
After a minute of silence, her father came walking towards the table with two plates of food in hand, plus a large bowl that he sat down on the table for Trinity, just in case. His voice was still very serious when he spoke. "Now, I would appreciate it if you would stop using his name inside my house! He does not deserve our acknowledgement to call him by a name. He is a demon that must be sent back to hell. You would do well to remember this!"
Trinity sat down at the table and just stared down at her plate of food. Grabbing her fork she nervously pushed the food around the plate. "I just wish that you could see what I have seen from him, dad."
As she pondered over what Zyxel must have done to regain control of his energies again, she scowled as dread began to fill her with worry. 'Zyxel, I am so sorry that I couldn't get back in time to help you sooner. I hope you will be ok. Just hold on for a little bit longer. I will find you, and I will fix this!'
~*~*~*~*~
Sirens sounded in the background. Cars drove by a small back alley, unaware of the horror that had just been committed nearby.
At the far back of the alley a low growl could be heard, coming from a tall red demon. His red bat-shaped wings were curled forward, wrapped tightly around something in front of him. It wasn't until his wings began to part, that something began to fall lifeless to the ground.
Swinging out with his tail, Zyxel caught the man around his throat before he hit the ground. His shirt had already been sliced open and exposed his bare chest that now had a glowing mark positioned over his heart, that had been burned into his skin.
With a clawed finger, Zyxel inspected the burned mark as the glow had already begun to fade and disappear. Annoyed, he growled and flung the man into the nearby dumpster, adding onto the pile of five other dead bodies.
Blood dripped from his lips as he breathed heavily. His eyes glowed wild with a bright fiery red. "Need... more!" He snarled the words as he continued to breathe heavily. Licking his lips, he then brushed his tongue across his sharp fangs, savoring every last drop of the blood. Crouching down low, he hid in the shadows, as he waited for his next unsuspecting victim.
