The next day, Trinity woke up early, feeling defeated.
Half of the people yesterday felt sorry for her for what happened, while the other half only showed anger or aggression towards her. It seemed that people still hadn't gotten over when she performed the Demon Chant the first time, and now she was having to perform a new one again, but she couldn't find the right opportunity to escape.
Not to mention that very attempt she had made to leave yesterday, resulted in Amara stopping her. Amara would just continue to smile sweetly and innocently at her as she would walk her back.
Now today, she would be stuck sitting next to Amara the whole day, yet again.
Trinity sighed. 'The longer I am stuck wasting time here, the worse it's gonna end up getting for Zyxel and everyone else in the city!'
She had made sure to take her shower last night after arriving back home, so that she would be able to wake up early this morning and sneak out without waking up her father. Silently tiptoeing around to get dressed, she crept over to the window. After carefully opening up her window, she quietly climbed outside, dropping to the ground.
She kept low to the ground, making sure to stay below any windows, just in case. Once reaching the front of the house, she looked both ways several times to make sure that no one was around. She took several steps towards the church before she heard a voice that made her freeze in her tracks.
"Oh Trinity, you disappoint me!"
The angelic voice sent chills down her spine. She hesitantly turned to face the direction in which the voice had come from. There in the moonlight, she saw Amara perched gracefully on top of the roof.
Flapping her wings, she jumped and lowered herself slowly to the ground. "I had hoped that I would be wrong and you wouldn't attempt to sneak off. Please tell me and help me to understand; for someone who grew up and was raised how you were, why do you put so much faith into my brother? He doesn't deserve your loyalty that you are showing to him."
Blood boiling, Trinity glared angrily up at Amara. "You're wrong!" She shook her head. "He deserves so much more than how humanity has been treating him."
Amused, Amara raised an eyebrow as she scrutinized Trinity, trying to understand her better. "I am intrigued how he managed to sway a person as dedicated to her faith as your father mentions that you were."
Trinity stood tall and held her head up high. "Because Zyxel has never once lied to me!"
Amara clasped her hands gracefully in front of her abdomen. "But does he tell you everything? Because not lying to someone, and not telling the whole truth are two different things, my dear."
Trinity smirked. "You mean like you've done yourself? I've seen how you tiptoe around the truth with my father. I'm not blind."
Instead of getting upset, Amara just smiled her same sweet innocent smile. "If you are going to sneak out, I might as well accompany you. Come, there is something I would like to show you."
Trinity took a step back, not knowing what to expect. What is it that she wanted to show her?
Amara giggled. "Don't be afraid. I will not bite. Walk with me." She turned and started walking towards the front of the church.
Trinity was still skeptical and didn't trust Amara's motives behind her actions. However, she was still interested in what it was she was wanting to show her, if she was not gonna try forcing her to stay here, like yesterday. Hesitantly, she took a step forward and followed silently behind Amara.
Amara smiled as she sensed Trinity following close behind.
She walked through the streets, Amara leading and Trinity following. Neither one speaking to the other until they got closer into the downtown area.
"Why are we here?" Trinity asked, her eyes darting back and forth. It wasn't safe in this area at this time of night. This was where a lot of street gang members hung out at night. Was Amara planning on leaving her out here? Her heart began to race in her chest.
Amara stopped walking as Trinity spoke. "Have you been hearing the police sirens yesterday?"
Trinity frowned. "Of course. Who wouldn't? They have been happening a lot more frequently than usual."
Amara nodded. "I investigated a few while you and your father slept. Apparently, quite a few people have become reported as missing. I would like to show you what your dear friend has been hiding from you!"
That sparked Trinity's attention. "Zyxel? What about him?"
"Just follow me and stay close." she answered in reply.
As they both trekked deeper into the downtown area, they came upon flashing red and blue lights with yellow crime scene tape that was closing off the area to the outside public. She leisurely strolled up the crime scene, walking slowly to allow Trinity to keep close.
One of the officers spotted someone walking up in the dark. "I'm sorry, but this area is closed off to the public, you will need to-" The officer stopped as he noticed the white angel wings attached to the person he was speaking to. "Oh, it's Miss Angel Amara!" A few officers heard what he said and a few peeked around the corner to catch a glimpse of the angel. "I am very sorry, I mistook you for someone else at first. Please, what can I help you with?"
Amara smiled down at the officer. "It is quite alright. Actually, I was hoping that your police captain might possibly be here. Or is he perhaps at one of the other scenes around town right now?"
The officer quickly jumped at attention. "Oh! Yes ma'am! He is here. I can go and get him for you if you like? He has been trying to visit each of the scenes personally, so he won't be here for much longer."
Amara nodded. "Yes, please go get him!"
Trinity was still nervously watching their surroundings. Just because they were near where police were currently at, didn't mean that they would be safe if they were distracted.
The officer returned with the police captain, who smiled happily at Amara. "I hear you wanted to see me, ma'am? How can I be of assistance?"
Amara waved her left arm slowly in the direction of where Trinity was hiding. "Hello! I believe you remember my companion that I brought with me."
Captain Renault glanced at the teenager who stood nervously behind Amara and nodded. "Of course I remember her! She was the girl who got beaten in the alley and then kidnapped by the demon. Which begs the question," he cleared his throat nervously. "With all due respect, why did you bring her here? Hasn't she been traumatized enough?"
"I understand your concern Captain! However, if you will do me this small favor, I believe that with everything that she experienced and witnessed with being held captive, this is something that she needs to see." Amara declared.
