Zyxel flew over the rooftops, silently. His long red tail was wrapped around the waist of a man who had been influenced into a dazed coma so that he would not resist. He was heading to one of his more frequent locations that usually had the least traffic through the area. But as he neared the location, he noticed lights and movement. He perched on top of the roof and released the guy that he had been holding with his tail.
The guy rolled effortlessly off to the side and didn't move or twitch a muscle in response. His eyes remained clouded over in a daze from Zyxel's influence. This was the effect that could happen with someone who had a weak mind.
Crouching down low to the roof, he crawled on all fours to the edge and peered over the side. From his position, he noticed that several police officers had already pulled many of the rotten corpses out of the dumpsters.
Letting out a low growl, he sneered at the scene below. Now he would have to waste time hunting for a new dump location, and he was positive that the police would be on the hunt for other locations, if they hadn't already found some of the others already.
Annoyed, he began walking back to the dazed human when his ears picked up on what one of the officers spoke.
"Oh, it's Miss Angel Amara!"
Eyes burning red with fury, he raced to the other side as he watched the scene play out below. Crouching low, he hid in the shadows so that he wouldn't be spotted. His claws digging into the stone bricks of the upper wall. He narrowed his eyes at his sister, hating how smug and cocky she was displaying. Adrenaline pumping through his system, he readied himself in preparation for an attack, just as soon as the officer was a safe distance out of the way.
But then he called over another, which turned out to be none other than the police captain. As the two spoke, Zyxel noticed movement behind Amara. It appeared that someone was behind her, and they weren't comfortable with being here. 'Of course she would bring someone along to use as a shield! Typical of her!' he sneered yet again in disgust with her.
The police captain held out his arm and motioned for someone to come closer, and that's when he noticed the person who had been standing behind Amara, was none other than Trinity.
He first growled in rage that his sister would have brought her here, then worry gripped at him as he noticed where the captain was leading her. 'No!' he screamed in his mind. He never wanted Trinity to see the darkness from his past, and now Amara was leading her here intentionally.
Pain flooded within him as he watched Trinity take in the scene that stood before her. From her attempting to shield her nose from the stench, to seeing the rotting bodies that resulted after the sigil over their heart had completed liquefying the soul, in order to be absorbed into the bloodstream.
Their demon teeth would excrete a type of adrenaline into a human system, keeping their heart beating even after their soul was liquefied from the burning mark of the sigil. Just long enough to be able to consume the blood that was now filled with their liquefied soul.
As he watched Trinity fight against a gag reflex, before taking off running and throwing up in a corner; he couldn't take it anymore. He glared in anger at Amara who just stood there watching Trinity, without an ounce of care reflecting in her eyes at what she was putting her through.
Blood boiling, he growled and flew off the opposite edge of the roof and raced towards Amara.
She hadn't noticed him until it was too late and he already had his hand wrapped around her throat. His momentum sent her flying out of the alley opening. As they both slowed their speed, he gripped her throat tighter as his claws dug into the surface of her skin, and he slammed her body into the brick wall behind her. Cracks formed along the wall from the impact.
Zyxel growled low and his fiery eyes were dancing wildly with rage. "How dare you bring her here!"
Amara twisted and stretched her neck as she attempted to find a more comfortable position from his grasp. She grinned at Zyxel. "Hello to you too, brother." she spat out in disgust. "I must say, I am quite surprised at how far you have let yourself go. Even in the past you never killed this much in such a short amount of time. I'm starting to wonder just how much you truly like the kill!"
Zyxel growled at Amara again. "Do not twist things, Zara! I've only gone after those with the most amount of sin inside them! Gang members, murderers, and rapists each of them."
The look on Amara's face when her brother called her Zara was murderous. "Do not ever call me by that name again! I want nothing to do with you, and that includes my name!"
Zyxel pulled her body away from the wall slightly before slamming her back into the wall again. He growled and snapped his fangs an inch away from her face. "Answer my question Zara! Why did you bring her here!"
The smile on Amara's face became wicked and sinister. "Did I hurt your little feelings? Didn't want your little PET to see what a monster you truly are?" She laughed menacingly as she mock bit the air in front of him. "Oh, I'll tell you what, you sure did a number on her with your seduction." She grimaced at the imagery. "So disgusting! To think that my once mighty brother, now crippled and deformed; allowed himself to fall for a human. My, oh my, how the mighty have fallen!"
"I never seduced her!" he growled at her. But internally, his anger was softening at Amara's words because it meant that Trinity might actually care for him, even with everything that happened. After all, he had heard her defending him before Amara attempted to influence her mind before.
However, he quickly shoved that thought out of his mind and his focus on Amara returned. Even if that were true, there was no way Trinity would see him as anything else except a monster after today. Amara knew exactly what she was doing, and she played her hand well.
"Keep telling yourself that. Just because your influence over her didn't work, doesn't mean you didn't seduce her without influence. The amount of time and energy I have had to put into keeping her from racing off trying to find you, is sickening." She laughed at the shocked expression on Zyxel's face. "She literally made herself sick, just being separated from you. She was sweating and throwing up; couldn't hold down any food or liquids. It was enough to make me want to vomit."
Worry spread throughout Zyxel. 'No, that wasn't why she got so sick.' He thought to himself. 'She only got that sick because of our damaged bond. I am the one to blame for what happened to her. I held off from resorting to these actions for too long, and in the process only ended up hurting her instead.'
Without any fear, Amara stood tall, even with her brother's grasp around her throat. She smirked as she laughed. "Are you wanting to kill me, brother? Go ahead, end my life here and now! I know with the amount of souls you have eaten these past few days, you could kill me with ease. So what are you waiting for? Do it!" she taunted him with a wicked grin, knowing that he wouldn't. "No? Maybe you are afraid to kill me? Afraid that it would kill you too in the process?"
Zyxel closed his hand tighter around her throat. Blood seeping out from where his claws had punctured in her skin. He brought his face in close to hers as he growled again. "The only reason I am not killing you right this moment, has nothing to do with me dying as well. If I kill you now, you will be reborn back inside the Void, and I will return and be reborn back home! But that would leave Trinity alone and in danger in this place, which isn't safe for her to be. You knew that when you brought her here. The lack of concern for the humans that you claim to care for, that is what is disgusting!"
At that moment, they both heard movement from the alley as they heard Trinity getting up from where she had been sitting. She was now walking back towards the alley opening.
Amara snickered at Zyxel. "Are you gonna stay and allow her to see you after she has spent so much effort attempting to escape so she can find you? Or are you gonna run and flee like the dog you are?" She chuckled softly. "No matter what happens, you know that she will only see you for the monster you are, from now on! She won't want anything more to do with you. But don't worry, I will take good care of your little pet!"
Zyxel narrowed his eyes at Amara's last comment, but he couldn't wait around and allow Trinity to see him like this. Nor was there any reason for her to ever forgive him, after experiencing what she just witnessed of what he was capable of. He loosened his grip around Amara's throat and took off flying into the air, just before Trinity stepped out of the alley.
