Chapter 24 - Effects of a Damaged Bond (Part Four)

The next morning, Trinity woke up to rumbling and shaking coming from the ground. "W-what's going on?"

Father Kiran ran into the living room. He had allowed Trinity to sleep on the couch since she didn't feel up to moving.

"Dad, is it an earthquake?" Trinity asked in panic.

Her father opened up the front door. The snow and winds had stopped, but now something else had started. "Wait there, don't move!" he called out to Trinity.

He could see cracks forming in the snow. Movements in the ground shifted as some patches of snow began to collapse, while others would jerk upwards, spraying snow and ice up into the air.

Off over in the garden, an abrupt tear in the ground shot up, spewing hot steam from the newly formed geyser. He shut the door as quickly as he could and raced over to Trinity to help her up. She was still burning up more than ever, and excessive sweat still seeped from her pores.

"Come on! We're having an earthquake. Let's get you underneath the table, just in case. I'm gonna make a dash for the church, and see what I can do while Amara works to get this under control."

Trinity didn't have the strength to argue. She allowed her father to lay her down underneath the table, before he ran off.

She closed her eyes to keep the dizziness at bay. Her head was pounding and her stomach was still feeling twisted in knots. In addition to her heart now feeling as if it were being squeezed. "Zyxel," she whispered, in a desperate plea. "I don't know what's going on, but I don't know how much more my body can take of this. Please, just tell me what I can do to fix this!"

She passed out shortly after, as small cracks began running up the walls of their house.

~*~*~*~*~

Trinity couldn't see anything as she surveyed the empty surroundings. Everywhere she looked was an endless darkness all around her. There was no light, and it was eerily silent. It gave her the creeps, and goosebumps began traveling down her arms.

Although she couldn't see the ground beneath her, it was clear she was standing on something solid. She tapped the ground lightly with her foot, before stomping harder. It was definitely solid, but she couldn't hear any sound.

HELLO! she attempted to call out, but no sound escaped from her mouth.

Carefully, she took a step and attempted to see if she could find some means of escape.

She started exploring, in an attempt to find anything at all, but no matter where she walked, it was the same vast emptiness everywhere she went. Finally, she sensed some kind of movement nearby, and it was coming directly at her at an alarming speed. She didn't know what it was, but the feeling she was sensing from it was powerful.

Panicking, she pivoted and dashed into the opposite direction. However, the aura she was sensing turned and followed her. As she ran, she sensed the presence closing in on her, before suddenly it was no longer behind her anymore. She felt something brush against her arm, and instinctively she pivoted once more to escape whatever this thing was. However as she turned, something grabbed her by the wrist, holding her in place. She couldn't see anything there, but she could feel their grip as they held on tight, while she struggled against whatever this strange force might be.

Very slowly, a very dim and faint image of a grown man began to appear, which showed that he was the person who was keeping her pinned in his grasp.

The mysterious man that was materializing in front of her appeared to be about twenty-five years old. He had slick black hair, beautiful pale skin, and dark blue eyes that seemed capable of piercing into her soul. But what made her heart race with panic was that protruding from the center of his back wasn't just one pair, but rather a double pair of pearlescent white wings. One set that curved up at the top, and a second smaller set that curved down at the bottom.

His eyes were focused on Trinity's wrist as he kept hold of her. Slowly, the mysterious guy began to become less and less transparent. Once his body became completely opaque, he let go of her wrist.

Because of her struggles and trying to escape, she hadn't been prepared for him to suddenly just let go. She immediately lost her balance as her momentum had unexpectedly propelled her forward, making her fall onto the ground. Climbing back up to her feet, she took off running again.

However, the double winged angel was too fast for her. He immediately sprang from his spot that he was standing and before she knew it, he flew past and was now directly in front of her a little ways off in the distance.

As she skidded to a stop, she stared at the angel in not knowing if he might be friend or foe.

Flapping his giant wings, he landed not far from where she stood, before starting to walk the rest of the way towards Trinity. As he finally closed the gap between them, he held up his palm in front of his face as he inspected his own hand for the first time in a long time. Twirling his hand around, as well as opening and closing his fist; almost as if he was trying to confirm that this really was his own body that he was seeing again. Finally his dark blue eyes fell back on Trinity once more and a smile spread across his face.

WHO ARE YOU? she shouted. But again, no sound escaped when she tried to speak. She pressed her hand against the base of her throat, wondering why she couldn't speak.

Eyes wide, she turned once more in an attempt to flee. She had sensed both Zyxel and Amara's energies before, and right now this being in front of her wasn't even in their same league. As powerful as Amara had been, it scared her to think what this guy must be capable of.

In an instant, the mysterious angel spread out his pearlescent wings, quickly folding them around her, preventing her from escaping.

Trinity tried to push through and pry his wings apart. However, despite how incredibly soft his wings felt, they were still incredibly strong. His wings refused to budge from its embrace, which only made her more aware of how feeble attempts were at escaping. Hesitantly, she turned back around to face the man, who was holding her captive. As she gazed at him, she could see that he was staring at her intently with an amusing smile on his face.

He reached forward and placed a delicate hand against her cheek.

The voice resonated inside her mind as he spoke to her telepathically.
