Chereads / Kronus / Chapter 4 - A Survival Scheme

Chapter 4 - A Survival Scheme

Crow calmed himself. His blue eyes gaining a silver glint, as he focused. He did not know the reason but whenever he felt intense emotion or was extremely focused, his eyes would gain a silver light.

His mother told him that it should just be the way the Sun reflected in his eyes. He never thought about it much but it was indeed very strange.

[Author's Note: I thought I should make this clear since people might mistake it. His eyes are blue. At least for now.]

The beast pounced.

Crow rolled over to the side, dodging the beast's claws by a hair's breadth. Not letting this opportunity go to waste he turned around swing the branch in his hand, bashing it into the Hound's head.

The branch shattered the Hound hardly phased.

'That did nothing! Shit, I need a plan! Think, think, think…' Crow tried moving forwards looking for an opportunity.

After dodging the beast's continuous attempts at trying his life he saw a cliff up ahead.

'That's it.'

He ran towards the cliff, the mutt running after him with vigor. He used the trees in the area to avoid getting caught, causing the beast to be unable to follow him properly.

'Yes it's working.' Then he did something that shocked those who had the time to send glances his way.

Sarah's pupils constricted.

She had just managed to push Theodore back managing to sneak a glance.

She looked towards a short stout man who stood near her. Nodding, he understood what to do.

Crow jumped off the cliff, the dog like beast following in his tracks only to realize that it had made a mistake.

Immediately, grabbing unto one of its paws Crow pulled himself up stabbing the broken branch that he apparently hadn't dropped, into one of its eyes.

GROWL!

The beast growled in pain managing to claw deep into his arm as they fell. Both rolling separate directions.

"ARGH!"

'That hurt!' Crow managed to slowly get up. Leaning on a tree. He slowly watched the beast. He wasn't sure if it was dead so he dared not celebrate yet.

He watched on silently not even thinking of running away while it was down. As far as he was concerned that would but him in a major disadvantage to him if it really was still alive.

Plus, he really didn't like the idea of running away. He had decided that he would face everything with all he had. He would not allow anyone to humiliate him.

So he watched.

One minute turned into five, then ten.

...

Crow celebrated in his heart, looking towards the beast. It seemed that really was enough to kill it. Most would be shocked at Crow's caution, because the way the beast had fallen caused the branch in its eyes to dig further in, ensuring it death.

When Crow was sure of his speculation, he heaved a sigh of relief. But just when he was getting relaxed, he felt something approaching him behind. He didn't know why but his body froze up.

Something told him that no matter what he did t would be too late.

"CROW DODGE!"

Theodore who happened to catch sight of this screamed alas it was too late. The beast was too close for Crow to do anything either way, or so everyone thought.

The screams of the young boy they all expected to hear didn't come. Rather there was an explosion of silver dust taking his place.

'Crow.' Theodore was anxious. This wasn't supposed to be happening. Why were this people here? If only he wasn't restricted, due to this place. He could only hope Crow was okay.

The silver mist cleared, everyone turning towards the giant feline like creature that now laid there, unmoving.

The dust started to clear. Everyone stopped what they were doing focusing on the outcome. It seemed that their purpose here had something to do with the Walker's.

Of course everyone here was already aware of this fact.

Finally the last of the silver dust cleared up. Showing Crow who stood before the corpse. His blue eyes completely disregarding their color, becoming a set of silver irises.

His hair which was already just black seemed to turn a shade darker, one could mistake them for the feathers of a raven. It barely covered his face, leaving just enough of a gap for one to see the silver.

The world was silent.

One would expect some sort of mark on the world, indicating the death of the beast, but there was none of that.

No magnificent crater. No storm being whipped up, devastating the trees and or environment. No blood stains as evidence of its happening. Nothing at all. Just a twisted, and lonely… silence.

'This child must die!' Sarah made her decision in her heart. She had to kill this boy before he grew.

One would think her thinking was much too twisted, but she knew her eyes weren't so easily deceived. She had already scanned the corpse through, with her eyes.

There were no signs of injuries nor sickness, disease nor famish.

The corpse felt completely healthy. It was almost like the creature heard the child's will and abided by it, dying peacefully.

Crow turned towards Sarah as if sensing her killing intent, his eyes giving off an eerie cold. It was almost as if that naïve little child had disappeared. But contrary to everyone's expectations he disappeared. Fleeing away from the danger before him.

For the first time in her life Sarah felt an indescribable fear. No it wouldn't be the first… She remembered that day clearly. That was why she became enraged when she saw that look.

Those eyes were the same.

The only thing scarier that a powerful opponent was one who knew when to advance and when to retreat. It cause her no small panic.

She stepped forward, leaving the chariot for the first time since she arrived. Seemingly wanting to chance after the boy. But someone stepped in front of her.

"You dare leave when I am still around?" Theodore who had stepped in front of her, standing solid in the air, heaved a sigh of relief. That just now had caused him no small panic. Luckily it all turned out great.

'It seems like the boy will be safe.' Seeing that Crow had made his escape Theodore threw away all regards. The world submitting. He would make sure none of them leaved here today.

Thunder clapped and lighting sparked, a field of blue lightning, gathering around him.

"Oh Theo, you can be o romantic sometimes. You seek to defy me for some brat?

"Well I'll have to put you in u place then."

An earthen hue was added to her skin, her expression growing serious. Her amber eyes shining. Those around her stepped forward doing the same, creating their own sort of field.

Today she had to ensure the boy died.

[Author's Note: Too many secrets rii? Honestly.]
