Crow rubbed his tummy in satisfaction. He hadn't expected to run into a good meal in the wild, of course then again, food is not exactly what's on your mind when you are running for your life.
Crow finally gained focus, sitting upright he looked towards the direction of Mistress Divine, He had a lot of doubts he needed to clear. For instance who she was, how she got here. Why didn't she kill him if she seemingly knew who he was?
It seemed like everyone else who knew his identity was out to kill him. There were too many to go through.
Mistress Divine whose eyes seemed closed, and in deep meditation finally opened her eyes, her gaze giving off a mysterious aura. It gave the feeling that all she needed was a glance to suppress all who dared stand against her.
Even Mt. Tai would be suppressed beneath her gaze, feeling infinitely small before her.
And yet, even at that, even with all her glory on full-display, this little boy before her seemed not to notice… Her own aura being snuffed out even before it could reach him. She didn't understand what that represented, but it seemed this boy would entertain her for a while longer.
"Why don't you accept me as your master?" Mistress Divine seemed set on remaining oblivious to his intent.
"Master?" Crow was shocked. Master? She did not look any older than him. Why in God's name would he do that?
Though knowing what he now knew thanks to his mom, he didn't dare to actually ask this woman her age. Who knew if she would flay him live?
Mistress Divine Seemingly reading his thoughts, answered calmly, which was completely unexpected for Crow. She even letting out a slight chuckle. This Walker kid was really adorable.
"You and I aren't on the same level."
Crow expression looked a little pained. The wounds on his body were still giving him indescribable pain, he was just forcing himself to endure it. Otherwise, who knew if he wouldn't have fainted already?
Mistress Divine had already help him dress the wounds, but it couldn't be helped, his injuries were rather harsh for a mortal.
Mistress Divine, looked towards him, thinking deeply, before she said. "What I am about to teach you is a special breathing technique named, 'White Lotus.' I happened upon it by chance in my travels. It is used to pace and create your own rhythm,
"Control your breathing like so. It will help subdue the pain." As soon as she said this she fell into silence.
She took a breath. Preparing her mind, she wanted him to experience more.
She exhaled.
Immediately Crow was drawn into what seemed like a visualization of a white seed. He was unsure the whole world seemed ethereal, a small lake at the center of it all. The seed seemed to lay in its waters.
From the seed it began to bud, from the budding it began to grow. From its growth it became a Lotus. From a Lotus it covered the world.
It felt like it could conquer the world, it felt arrogant for having come so far. It felt kindness and gratitude, to the world which held its weight, it realized that it was more than just its effort that brought it up.
Crow Understood. It seemed to be the story of the Lotus' life.
Any time the lake was about to dry up the rain would remember to come down. Any time the sun threated to kill it, the clouds would cover it. Any time the winds threatened to shred it to pieces, the waters would overflow, shielding it.
And finally it felt humility, when it regarded its past. The small it had begun with.
Crow was enlightened. He felt that there was much more to this technique than met the eyes, he looked on intently, unaware that he had fallen into the rhythm, unaware that he had created his own rhythm.
Seeing this Mistress Divine was shocked. Ho had he entered the meditative state so quickly, no it wasn't a meditative state, he was already in harmony. Nothing was offset.
'The beginning was small…' These world came to Crow as naturally as the technique had.
He took a breath… closing his eyes, reveling in its feeling for just a moment… as soon as he exhaled, he had completed its first cycle. He had understood the meaning contained within the technique.
The Wisdom of Small…
He opened his eyes, and smiled. A silver light shining through, piecing through his surroundings, but it faded just as quickly.
It was as she had said. It only took a moment. He could no longer feel the hurt. He couldn't help but assess the woman before him.
Meanwhile Mistress Divine was still reeling in shock. The small. How had he understood the first section of the technique so easily? This was something even absolute geniuses would be stuck at for months on end. Even she took a few weeks before she could understand the underlying meaning.
There was only one word for such
Crow on the other hand, was oblivious. His mind was really all over the place, his parents, his sister. Friends. He really wasn't as calm inside as he let on. He had too many things he wished to do.
He wanted to explore, he wanted to see the world. He wanted to fight bad guys. He wanted to fucking fly. He wanted to eat his mother's cooking again.
He wanted to hug his sister… He wanted to hug his dad…
One step at a time, He would worry about them when it came to that. But for now? He would take it one step at a time.
Seeing that he wouldn't get any answers if he wasn't straightforward with this woman, Crow finally asked her. "Who are you, and why are you here?"
She had just thought him what seemed like an invaluable technique on a whim, he was truly considering becoming her disciple, but he had some things he needed to confirm first.
"Become my student and you will know in time."
If Theodore knew where this woman was from and also that she wanted to take this child as her student, maybe only by destroying a few worlds would he be able to subdue his rage.
"Give me a day or two, I have something I need to confirm." Crow remembered the cabin, his father had said something about heading there.
He felt that there must be some sort of information there that would help him out, with his decision, and so he would head there first before biding himself with this woman.
"The cabin right? Don't worry ill come with you, Im sure you will need my help." Mistress Divine let out a soft smile.
"I doubt I would need the help of a small Mistress." Crow looked at her face, then at her endowment and shook his head, whispering slightly underneath his breath.
Mistress Divine's smile immediately froze. Surely it couldn't be her he was talking about right?
She looked down, placing her small hands on her chest… It wasn't that small right?
Her expression darkened.
Crow had already started walking it didn't matter to him whether she followed him or not. This was his business. He acted out of character, he had always faced everything with a smile, and he wouldn't let this minor setback determine his future path.
He would remember to face everything with a smile.
Making his decision, he looked towards Mistress Divine with a bright smile that would make even the angels bury their heads in envy. He was simply too perfect.
"You 'are' coming right Mistress Divine?"
Mistress Divine whose mood had just turned sour was about to berate Crow, suddenly felt her heart flutter when she looked up. This kid was really too pure.
…
Crow crouched din a corner of the cabin dragging his finger cross the cabin floor. He really couldn't find anything, what was wrong with that father of his?
He expected some sort of warm welcome or a scanner like in the ship to verify his identity. He even pulled out all the books hoping it would be like all those Japanese graphics novels his dad made him read. Sigh, nothing ever went as planned.
"Ouch!" Crow immediately moved his finger away from the floor.
It seemed he had cut his finger on the wooden floor. Splinters were really painful, especially when one's skin was as delicate and soft as Crow's. Even a light wind looked like it would be enough to do the job.
"Soo! Do you finally need my help?"
Crow looked up at Mistress Divine as he sucked on the blood that seeped from his finger. For some reason he had a bad feeling about this situation. Something felt off.
Mistress Divine gave out a sinister smile. She waved a finger and Crow's finger was pulled out of his mouth, the blood he was sucking on was drawn out directly. She then directed it towards an unassuming table in the room.
The blood dived towards the ink stone set aside on the table. Once it did, the whole room lit up with runes. They seemed to cover everything from the walls, too the unassuming books Crow had thrown on the floor.
The room shone with a violent red which let out a blinding light, forcing Crow to shield his eyes, Mistress Divine, whose eyes hoped to see more, shone with a mysterious light. What she didn't expect was for her eyes to start bleeding, flinging her out of the cabin.
She rolled on the ground outside. Causing her to mumble and groan in dissatisfaction. 'That bastard Theodore.'
Once the light died down, the room had changed completely. Everything from its size down to the materials used to build the room He looked forward at the room that seemed to have become the library of kingdoms long past.
The he looked towards a table that was in the room. He saw an unassuming old man. Fairly short hair, blue eyes, a rather muscular body. But his eyes contained a kind look He sat. Patiently...
He was safe. Crow eyes became red as he rushed forward, tears threatening to pour from his eyes.
