Chereads / Kronus / Chapter 9 - A Cabin (1)

Chapter 9 - A Cabin (1)

'That man is really annoying. To think he would set up such a Runic Formation.' Mistress Divine was really pissed. What gave him the right to interfere?

When she saw the runes, her doubts about Crow had already vanished.

The complexity of these runes were not something the lowly people of this world would be able to inscribe, much less on such low quality materials. She saw this and tried to glean something from the formation. She really did not expect the formation to throw her out.

Though she didn't try to enter again. She had already given up on entry at this time, sticking her tongue out at the building. Before turning her head away in anger.

If others saw this, one could only wonder how they would feel. She was lucky no one was around otherwise she might be too embarrassed to show her face again. Or maybe she would kill everyone there so no one spoke a word.

The little woman had gone mad!

Meanwhile inside the cabin, Crow felt a whole cluster of emotions and just like a star that had finished its lifespan. They came forth, exploding out like a burning Nebula. His old man was alive! Crow ran directly into his arms. Burying himself in that broad chest. The burden of a father.

"Whoa there little one, calm down, wouldn't want me to die again yeah?" Theodore teased Crow.

He had let Crow see the scene of his death on purpose. He wanted to prepare his son, to accept the reality of this world. Of course he did not really die, he just used a few tricks.

Crow looked up when he heard that. He was suddenly curious as to how his father had died, and yet was fine in the next second. He couldn't help but ask, "How did you do it? I am certain I saw you die. Even after you reappeared, the corpse was still there."

Theodore let out a slight chuckle, it seemed this son of his required him to do a little explaining.

"I cultivated a technique called, 'Masks Of The Ethereal.' It allows me to create multiple versions of myself. Let me demonstrate." Theodore felt it would be more convenient to demonstrate than explain.

And anyways, Crow had always understood something he had seen much better than if someone explained it to him. It seemed to be one of the effect of the special eyes he was born with but of course, Theodore never told him this.

In fact Crow still didn't know.

If Mistress Divine heard this she would understand why Crow didn't need her to explain the technique 'White Lotus' before he understood its first principle.

The first principle actually wasn't that deeply hidden, in fact the point of the visualization besides making one clearheaded was to help those learning who couldn't visualize it.

Of course those who comprehend it themselves usually turn out with slight different visualizations.

Theodore waved his hand, a pocket knife appearing in midair. It sliced at the tip of his finger, drawing blood. If one looked closely they would see strange runic inscriptions on Theodore's skin, it even seemed to be present in his blood in the form of gold patterns.

The drop of blood shot out a little distance before coming to a stop. Theodore whispered something underneath his breath. The sounds of gears and locks moving, resounding through the room. There was also a sort of Ascetic sound.

The drop of blood became surrounded with complex runes that seemed to vaguely form the shape of a man.

Crow widened his eyes I shock. Was he creating… a clone?

The runes came together in a magical way before solidifying into dense mass of bright light. It flickered for a moment, then dispersed, being replaced by an autonomous body which was a carbon copy of Theodore, from the finest hair to the ocean eyes.

It looked exactly like Theodore. Seeing this Crow's eyes widened. Was this also possible? He was excited and he cast a look towards Theodore but he frowned immediately, before his gaze turned to that of disappointment.

"You are not here." Crow felt a pain in his heart. But his eyes could not un-see what had been seen. The man before him was nothing but an autonomous clone.

Theodore raised her brow as he looked into the Silver that covered Crow's eyes. The silver seemed to be on, constantly. Or maybe that was just because of the intense emotions Crow was feeling.

'He saw through me?' Theodore was thoroughly shocked. Sure he created this Mask on a whim but that didn't mean that he should be so easily seen through. But his shock was only for a moment.

Regaining his composure he burst out in laughter, this kid had really caught him in between walls. Meanwhile Crow looked at him with amusement, he had never seen his father act like this, but it indeed felt more natural.

"You've caught me kid! Haha! I am indeed just talking you through a mask, or avatar. I honestly didn't think that you would be able to see through it so easily. If father heard this who knows what he would think?" Theodore let out a hearty laughter.

Crow looked at him oddly. Theodore had never mentioned his grandfather to him once and Crow wasn't really too interested in knowing. Since the man saw it fit not to mention it, he saw it fit not to ask.

This was their relationship.

"Grandfather?" Crow asked with amusement. Since he had mentioned it, he wouldn't mind asking then.

"Yes your grandfather. He is a very dangerous man. I am afraid, lest he laughs and kills me. Haha!" Even though Theodore had mentioned such vicious words he still laughed as if it was no big deal.

"Anyways, what about that friend of yours out there? Was she the one who taught you that breathing technique?" Theodore eyes digging deeper into the depth of his secrets.

Seeing that Theodore wasn't prone to continue on that topic he didn't press forward. "Yes. She called herself Mistress Divine."

"Mistress Divine. Hmm. Remember don't fully trust people. But always take advantage of the situation. I trust you understand." Theodore's Mask, just said some casual words about her. He wasn't really bothered.

[AN: Mask refers to Avatar or clone. Sorry about short chapter. The next one will be long.]
