Chereads / Crazy- A Cedric Diggory Fanfic / Chapter 22 - The Start Of Summer

Chapter 22 - The Start Of Summer

I woke up to a bright beam of sun shining through my window, the warmth hitting my face. I let out a groan as I stretched out, shifting around in my queen sized bed.

I missed having this.

In the dorms, we had twin sized beds, meaning that I couldn't move around as much. Often I had sleepless nights from being so cramped. I rolled over to my side and rubbed my eyes, soon after putting on my glasses.

On my beside table I noticed a deep red rose in a clear glass vase filled with water.

What is this?

I saw a letter stamped with gold wax on the front, sealing it shut. It was a light creamy gold, the kind you see in caramel, and it was shining in the sun. I grabbed the letter to read it.

It was from Cedric.

One week and he already misses me.

A wave of realization hit me.

Wait, he's coming to stay with us today. I totally forgot!

Time seemed to slip by that week, as the first days of summer break do. It was mostly spent catching up with my family, and giving Milya all the hugs and kisses that were missed while I was gone.

I decided to carefully open the letter, as to not break anything. I always kept his letters in a box so I could read them later. I saw his sloppy ink-splattered handwriting, and began to read.

Dear Allison,

I am currently writing this outside underneath a cherry tree by my house, since it made me think of you. I'm writing this is a week before I'll see you, and I miss you more than you can even imagine. I can't wait to see you next week, and I don't think I can wait much longer. I'm nervous to meet your parents, but the joy of seeing you it will be worth it. Also, I am very excited to meet Milya, your puppy. If you haven't noticed already, I love animals. Ok, can't wait to see you.

I love you.

(P.S I asked your parents if they could get you a rose but I don't know what kind flower they got you, but I hope that they got the right one.)

Yours truly,

Ced

I smiled widely once I finished the letter, and set it down on my bed. I crouched to the ground and pulled out a black shoes box and it was filled dozens of handwritten letters. I dropped the most recent one in there, and stood up.

I looked back at the vase and smiled so hard that my cheeks began to hurt. Once the flower was nearly dead, I would press it in between books to keep it. It was an important memory. One that made me happy.

I clomped down the stairs to see both of my parents peacefully eating breakfast. They had been the ones place the letter in my room, so they were up long before me.

They smiled at me, and I could tell that they were trying hard to contain their laughter.

"Thanks for the letter." I joked in a sarcastic tone. Both of my parents chuckled at this.

My mom went to the kitchen to grab some coffee, bringing her mug along with her.

"I'm sure that Cedric is a great guy." she replied, sticking her head out of the door. She poured herself some coffee and came back to the table, sitting down next to my father.

I sat down in my chair, and grabbed a cinnamon bun from the pan in front of me. With a satisfied sigh, I put some milk in my cup, and dug into my breakfast. I had missed home cooking. Not that the food at Hogwarts wasn't fantastic, but it was nothing compared to my mom's food.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

After I finished my breakfast, I hurried over to the sink to wash my sticky sugar covered hands. I pumped some soap into them and ran them under the cold water.

As I was drying my hands off with a towel, I heard a loud knock at the door. My head whipped around and I ran to it, anticipating to see Cedric.

Almost immediately after the door swung open, and I was picked up by the tall man. He swung me back and forth in his arms, planting kisses all over my face and head.

"Cedric," I giggled loudly, "we have company!"

I nudged my head towards my flabbergasted parents, and he carefully set me down. He dusted himself off and began to walk over to my parents, a warm smile on his face. In an attempt to be polite he shook my father's hand and then turned to my mother, who soon trapped him in a big hug.

I let out a small laugh and pulled him away, grabbing his hand and pulling him over to the table.

"Do you want some cinnamon buns?" I inquired, slightly moving the pan towards him.

He obliged, and I placed two shiny sugary buns on his plate.

As I walked back to the kitchen, I looked over my shoulder to see Cedric talking and both my parents smiling. They must really like him.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

I sat back down at the table in the chair next to Cedric, and linked arms with him. He beamed down at me as he used his other arm to grab yet another cinnamon bun.

"These are incredible, they remind me of my mother's cinnamon buns." Cedric commented. My mothers grin grew even larger, excited that he liked her cooking.

Milya heard the mention of and the smell of food, and suddenly I heard paws pattering down the stairs at full speed. When she saw Cedric, she jumped into his arms, knocking him back into his chair.

He laughed loudly as she repeatedly licked his face, leaving not even the slightest trace of the cinnamon roll frosting.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

As soon as we had finished talking and eating, me and Cedric rushed up to the guest bedroom. We wanted to talk more, since we had missed each other so much.

"So...how has it been so far?" I asked as we sat down on the guest bed.

"It's been pretty good, my father is already driving me up the wall and it's only been a week." Cedric shared, followed by a small chuckle.

He brought me closer to cuddle as he told me more about the week he had, trying not to leave out too many details.

"You know, whenever I'm not with you, I don't stop talking about you." I began.

"My mom took a big liking to you even before she met you. I think she's obsessed now." I teased, running my fingers through his hair.

We continued to talk for hours, thinking of past memories we made together. By the time we were even halfway done, it was already time for lunch.

"What is with this week? Time doesn't seem to stop going so fast." I yelled, pretending to be angry.

Me and Cedric rolled out of bed, and went back downstairs.

"Do you want to do to Diagonally?" Cedric suggested, a tired leer on his face.

"Sure, we just have to tell my parents first." I replied.

My parents gave us the ok, and we apparated straight to the three broomsticks.

As soon as we arrived, a comforting smell of delicious food fled through my nostrils. They always had the best food here, not to mention the creamy butter beer. We sat ourselves down at an empty table, and ordered our food.

We made small talk over our food, taking time to enjoy the new moments of summer break. So far, it had gone perfectly; and I knew that there were going to be many memorable moments made that summer.

With Cedric, everything was so much more fun. Even the simple things, like watching a movie. One time, he set up a movie theater themed date in my dorm. Blankets and pillows were spread out along with popcorn and twinkling lights. He always outdid himself.

After we ate our lunch, we thanked the server and headed out of the restaurant; our arms linked together.

"So, what do you want to do now?" he queried, his eyes filled with excitement.

"I dunno." I shrugged.

"How about..." he paused, taking a moment to stop. "we go to Honey Dukes."

My face lit up, and I rapidly bobbed my head up and down. He took my hand and started running towards the direction of the candy shop. Cedric always loved sweets, especially the chocolate cauldron cakes.

We came to a halt and entered the colorful shop, the bell on the door making a light ringing noise. It was quite quiet in there, only the soft chattering of other customers filling the shop. Cedric yanked me over to the chocolate cauldron cakes, and stuffed his hands with as many as he possibly could.

I let out a small chuckle and he whipped his head around.

"Are you laughing at me?" he asked, pretending to be offended.

I scoffed and walked over to the counter, where a kind plump lady sat. She was reading the Daily Prophet, and looked very concentrated.

She had flaming orange hair and was wearing a lacy blouse, a small pin decorating the collar. She looked up at me and gave me a large smile.

"What can I get you, deary."

"May I please have a caramel apple?"

Her face lit up.

"Of course! Just plain caramel, right doll?" she asked.

"Yes." I replied. She put it in a small decorative paper bag and handed it to me.

"That will be two galleons."

I dug into my pocket and pulled out two coins, exchanging the apple for the money. Cedric waddled over to the counter with his cakes and set them all down. The kind lady was slightly surprised and let out a guffaw.

"Are you sure you've got enough there?"

Cedric payed for his army of cakes and shoved one in his mouth, carrying a large bag out of the shop. As we crossed the cobblestone road we saw Viktor and George chatting outside on a bench. They were in front of the supply shop.

Why are they there?

As we got closer, I saw that Hermione and Ada had joined them. They gave us exited waves and gestured us to come over to them. We walked over hand in hand to a bench near them, just in front of a robe shop.

"Hey!" I beamed, hugging both of my friends.

We all sat back down next to our men and chatted for a while, both me and Cedric eating our treats. While Cedric downed the entire bag in 15 minutes, I took my time with my apple. Once we finished, we said our goodbyes, promising to make plans in the future.

I checked the time and grabbed Cedric hand, apparating us back to my house. We were trampled by an ecstatic Milya. Her eyes were wide and her mouth opened wide as if she were smiling.

"Hello Milya!" I trumpeted. She barked at this statement, saying hello back.

"Want to head upstairs?" I asked Cedric.

"Sure!" he agreed, and started walking towards the stairs.

We clomped up the stairs and obviously Milya followed, not wanting to miss out on the fun. When we entered my room she leaped onto the bed and made herself comfortable.

Cedric was curious and began to walk around, observing the pictures of us on my wall. They were hung by fairy lights that were wrapped around vines. He smiled as he looked at all of the pictures, taking in and remembering every memory.

He turned around facing me as I was petting and cooing sweet words to Milya. She began to lick my face when I felt myself being lifted up by Cedric. I giggled and kicked my feet in protest, but he just sat down in the bed and put me in his lap.

I wrapped my arms around his torso and rested my head on his shoulder, letting out a deep sigh. He placed a light peck on my lips and I smiled I took his face in my hands I brought him closer. We kissed and kissed as he ran his hands though my hair I rubbed and scratched his back, he started to lay down on the bed when suddenly a loud knock disrupted us.

"Dinner time! Come downstairs when you're ready." my mothers sweet voice informed us.

I got off of Cedric and walked over to my vanity, fixing my hair and mascara because they were slightly messed up from the long day.

We walked down the stairs holding hands and sat down in our chairs at the table. A pan of steaming lasagna with salad and broccoli on the side was placed in front of us; and to top it off, ice cold lemon water was poured into our cups. I cut out a slice of  lasagna, and started to eat.

Our meal was filled with comforting stories of childhood and memories, Cedric's collected manner impressing my parents. After we finished dinner, I went back up to my room. I was absolutely exhausted, and I though I was going to fall asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow.

Cedric walked in with a large teddy bear, holding it arms out in front of him. I smiled and laughed, making grabby hands to him and the bear. He gave it to me and kissed me on the forehead while pulling the covers up.

"Goodnight, I love you." I whispered, my eyelids becoming heavier and heavier.

"I love you too, princess. You don't even know how much."
