Chapter 23 - Nightmares

Cedric's POV

It seemed that everything was completely still throughout the entire house. Large beams of moonlight shone through the windows of the guest room as I tossed and turned, struggling to get to sleep.

I usually had troubles with sleep since my mind was very active; but since I started dating Allison, it became easier to sleep. She helped remind me that I wasn't supposed to be perfect, and that put me at ease.

The soft chirps of crickets sounded from the woods and Milya's loud snoring was keeping me awake. About an hour or so earlier she was pawing at my door to get in, so I let her sleep at the foot of the bed. She was peacefully snuggled up at my feet.

I decided to get some water from the bathroom, so I lifted the blanket off of me and grabbed the glass from my bed side table. I made sure to do so lightly, as to not wake Milya. I tiptoed to the bathroom, and got my water.

As I was heading back, I heard a strange noise. A whimpering noise. I thought it must be something outside, or the dog, so I went back to the room. Milya wasn't making any sound, and it seemed to be coming from the room over.

Allison's room.

I rushed to her room, worried. I wanted to make sure she was okay. I quietly opened her door to see her moving uncomfortably, beads of sweat on her forehead. Her breathing began to quicken and she let out a yelp, a sob soon escaping her lips.

I quickly ran over to her side and shook her lightly to wake her up.

"Allison!" I whispered . Her eyes opened wide and she looked at me, a look of relief on her face.

"What's the matter?" I inquired.

"Please..." she cried, "promise me you'll never leave me."

"I promise, always and forever."

"Always and forever." she whispered.

I crawled under the covers next to her and brought her close to my chest, trying to get her to match my steady breathing. She looked up at with with a look in her eyes.

"You know I would believe you more if you showed me." She whispered with a smirk on her face.

"What if your parents walk in and see us kissing. On your bed!" I replied.

"It's midnight, I highly doubt they will wake up." She whispered, dragging my finger over his mouth.

"Fine" I replied.

She sat up on the bed and sat over me, soon laying down on top of me. I started to slowly and tenderly kiss her, running my fingers through her hair and down her back. Her fingers pulled at my hair and I groaned lightly as my hands slid down to her lower back.

I started to sit up and laid my back against the bed frame to support myself, with my hands still on her back.

"I love you." she said, muffled through the kiss.

"Me too." I respond.

She lightly bites on my lip to slip in her tongue, but we hear the door shake and she quickly hops of me and lays in her bed facing the opposite of me.

As the shaking stopped we hear the sound of four paws walk away. We start to giggle and she turned back towards me pulling me back into a kiss.

This kiss was more calm and passionate. After a few more minutes we finally broke the kiss for air and she cuddled back into my chest.

We both fell asleep minutes later. I never did find out what her dream was about.

Allison's POV

Where was I? It seemed almost familiar, like I had been there before. I couldn't quite seem to make out where it was. It had a homey essence to it, and the smell of flowers filled the air. Light breezes blew against my face as I walked around, examining the place.

It was sunny, that's for sure, and hundreds of flowers surrounded me. All of them were roses, similar to the ones that Cedric gave me earlier that day. They were all pure deep red, and all of the thorns had been plucked off. I picked one and brought it close to my nose, inhaling the sweet scent.

I looked out across the field to see a figure. They had fluffy mousy brown hair and stunning silver eyes, a soft blush spread across their cheeks. Their smile seemed to set butterflies off in my stomach, and make my knees go weak.

Cedric.

He was standing there, joyful and content, not a seeming worry in the world. He bent down to pick a flower, and all of a sudden it seemed that an idea set off in his head. He began to pick more and more flowers. Was he making a bouquet?

He shifted his attention from the ground to my direction. I blushed slightly as I saw the pure happiness that spread across his face. He stood up, and tripped slightly, but laughed it off.

He began to speed walk over, and what was once a walk became a full on sprint. He held his arms out wide and let out a laugh, and I held mine out too, so happy to see him. Something very unexpected happened, something that made my heart drop.

He went through me.

Can he not see me?

I turned around to see him hugging Cleo, his body absolutely melting. He was smelling her hair and nestling his head in her neck and kissing it softly. He was whispering words of love into her ear as I stood there, mortified. I couldn't breathe, I couldn't think. All I could do was stand there in shock. Watching.

As she was embracing him, she looked up. Her icy blue stare locked with my mine, looking me dead in the eyes; smirking.

She had won, she had finally got him. I couldn't even believe what I was seeing.

"It's too bad he can't see you. Because if he did, you would be broken. Even more than you are now, just standing there, numb. Like the filthy blooded being you are. He doesn't love you. He never did, it was all a lie. He only loved you out of pity, he never cared about you and never will. You are nothing but a conquest; a prize of his to earn. You are not his moon, his sun, his everything; you mean nothing to him."

I couldn't believe that someone could be so cold.

"Isn't that right, my Ceddy bear." she said in a low sultry voice. He almost seemed to hesitate for a moment, like he didn't want to say anything. But what came out of his mouth set me over the edge.

"What is wrong with you? Why can't you see that I don't care about you? Leave, nobody would care anyways!" he yelled, an angered expression on his face.

Cedric had never yelled at me, and tears filled my eyes. I tried to talk but my mouth wouldn't move, and the only thing that could be made out were my gut-wrenching sobs.

My heart was in my stomach as I fell to the flowers, screaming in pain. This was the kind of emotional pain that physically hurt. The kind that felt like someone ripped your heart out and took it to themselves. It all felt so real, like it was actually happening.
