Chereads / Crazy- A Cedric Diggory Fanfic / Chapter 21 - My Heart and Soul

Chapter 21 - My Heart and Soul

Allison's POV

It had been a week since the last task, and I was relieved that the competition was over. Cedric had been announced as the Tri-Wizard champion for his bravery, and the fact that he touched the cup slightly before Harry; but sadly, Cedric didn't know of this.

Several stacks of gifts sat by his bed, including candy, a large bag of galleons, and cards of congratulation and sympathy. Cedric's light breaths filled the dark room as I sat next to him, my fingers intertwined with his. He looked peaceful, as if he hadn't just faced a near death experience. His eyes were lightly closed and his mouth was parted, small snores coming out.

After the third task, Cedric was sent directly to the hospital wing. That week he slipped in and out of consciousness as I sat next to him, never wanting to leave his side.

Most of the time, I didn't leave. Hermione and Ada brought me class work, homework assignments and notes to go over so I didn't fall behind. I was thankful that they did this, otherwise I wouldn't be able to prepare for the end of the year exams; which were coming up next week.

Since the hospital wing was always empty, other than the occasional check up by Madam Pomfrey, I would tell Cedric about my day.

"I can't wait until you wake up so we can actually talk together like we used to. Not that talking to your unconscious body isn't fun, I mean I can just ramble on for hours and you never interrupt me. But it's not the same." I babbled quietly, running my hands through my hair.

"And when you wake up, we can finish studying for the OWLS together. I'm sure we'll do great, Ced."

The room was silent, a type of loud silence that only happens late at night; and it was the only sound that could be detected. I hoisted myself off of my chair by his bed and grabbed a small wooden box off of the bedside table.

It was a music box. My mother had gifted it to me when I was very young, and whenever I felt scared or stressed I would open it. Whenever it played I felt like everything was fine; like my life wasn't completely deteriorating around me.

I slowly lifted the lid and sat back down in my chair with a sigh, letting my head drop. I grabbed Cedric's cold hand again and hummed the tune to him.

I can't help falling in love with you...

My nose began to burn and tears filled my eyes. I couldn't stand to see him hurt. Tears fell down my cheeks as I listened to the song.

This song always made me emotional.

I silently sobbed over his body, my chest heaving. It became hard to breathe, so I decided to lay my head back in my chair in an attempt to calm down; trying to imagine Cedric holding me in his arms. That night, I cried myself to sleep, thinking of when Cedric would finally wake up.

Cleo's POV

I was ecstatic. Now that Allison was out of the picture, things would go perfect for me. She had ruined everything; all that I loved, all that I had she destroyed and claimed for herself.

This time, my plan had worked. Cedric loved me, and Allison couldn't do anything to stop it. That day, I was going to see Cedric in the hospital wing. I felt bad for not seeing my Ceddy bear, so I was bringing him a gift. It was a teddy bear holding a red heart, and I stitched in the words: "Ceddy bear" in black thread. I thought it would make him smile since we were now official.

Yet again, I had nowhere to go, so I had been sleeping in the Slytherin common room. I rolled off of the black leather couch, and swiped the invisible dust from my clothing. Filled with anticipation, I ran over to the hospital wing as fast as I could.

I can't wait to see him.

Allison's POV

I sat by Cedric's side, holding his hand and lightly kissing his knuckles. I was enjoying a moment of silence until a giddy Cleo burst into the room. Her hands were at her chest holding a light brown teddy bear, and she was squealing loudly with excitement.

She didn't notice me until she stopped her in her tracks.

"What are you doing here?" I asked, looking her up and down.

I was so done with Cleo and her stupid scenes, having a new love interest every week and crying after they broke her heart. That girl was far too vulnerable and completely oblivious to every situation.

"I'm here to see my boyfriend. What are you doing here?" she snapped.

Boyfriend?

"Since when was that a mutual decision?" I inquired.

"Since be hugged and kissed me before he entered the maze." she began, her hands on her hips.

This bitch can't be serious.

"Get the hell out of my face. I'm not going to deal with you right now." I addressed pointing my finger at the door, seething with rage.

In an attempt to walk closer to him, Cleo stepped forward, but I pushed her back. She decided to try again, I finally let go of my temper and slapped her right across the face.

"I am so done with your delusions that Cedric and you are ever going to be together. He is mine and you will never take him from me." I yelled.

He began to stir in his bed, mumbling random words.

"He senses my presence." she gushed, rushing close to his side with me distracted by him. She gave him hopeful doe eyes and fluttered her lashes at him.

"Speak to me, Ceddy, it's ok. Tell me how you feel."

"Allison...I love you." he groaned, moving to his side. Cleo's face dropped. Her shocked expression gave me joy. Loud high pitched squeaks of confusion left her mouth; and she burst out crying.

She skittered out of the room, her words slurred and loud. I began to laugh loudly at her reaction and turned back to Cedric, a large grin on my face.

"I love you, Ced. More than anything." I exclaimed.

"That's good to know, darling." he smiled. I jumped out of my chair and let out a small yelp.

"You're awake!" I sputtered, stating the obvious.

"Yep." he sighed, sitting up in the hospital bed.

"How much of that did you hear?" I asked.

"Pretty much all of it. It was hilarious." he laughed as he grabbed my hand and held it. He kissed it lightly, and then set it down.

He went silent.

"Are you ok?" he asked, looking into my eyes. He looked genuinely concerned, and I didn't want him to feel that way.

"I'm fine." I lied.

He gave me a look, as to say "seriously?".

"I promise."

"Are you sure about that? Because I heard you crying last night." he commented. My face went blank.

"You heard that?" I trembled, my voice slightly shaky. He nodded and cupped my face in his hands, bringing it close to him.

He lightly kissed the top of my head and laid back down.

"So, who won?" he questioned, changing the subject. I could tell trying to seem like he didn't care who the champion was, but I knew he did. This competition was really important to him.

"You did." I said nonchalantly, staring at my nails. He choked on thin air, baffled at the statement.

"A-are you serious?"

I nodded excitedly as my face scrunched up. He practically yanked me off of the chair and pulled me to his chest.

"We did it, Allison. We did it!" he gurgled.

"You know, I really wish I could stand up right now."
