Chereads / Crazy- A Cedric Diggory Fanfic / Chapter 19 - The Maze

Chapter 19 - The Maze

Allison's POV

That bitch.

My eyes began to form tears as I watched the heartbreaking scene in front of me. Just as I was about to get up and say goodbye to Cedric, Cleo ran up to the field and gave him a hug and kiss.

He didn't even resist it, he just let it happen.

What could I have possibly done to drive him to do this? We were cuddling in my bed this morning!

I saw that he was searching the crowd and then his eyes found mine. The same grey eyes that I had looked into hundreds of times still had the same effect on me, causing butterflies to erupt in my stomach.

He had a look of regret and disappointment on his face as he entered the maze, his fists balled at his sides. Right after he left, an annoying high pitched giggle sounded at my side.

Cleo

"What do you want now, Cleo?" I sighed, depressed and annoyed.

"Oh, nothing. I just got some action with Diggory." Cleo grinned. Right then and there, I wanted to slap her across the face. I was still his girlfriend, and her pea brain couldn't process that.

I could tell she was trying to get under my skin, constantly one-upping me and making fake remarks.

Dear God, get me out of here.

Cedric's POV

My breathing was heavy as I ran through the maze, aimlessly running in every direction. My wand was drawn out and my face began to break out in a cold sweat. It was right to say I was scared, I was mortified. I didn't know what was in there or what I would have to face.

A sudden scream startled me, after it had been deathly silent. After a loud boom and red sparks shooting into the sky, a wind began to blow. Leaves rustled every where as I ran as fast as my legs could carry me.

The maze settled down within seconds, and I let a loud sigh escape my mouth.

What did I sign my self up for?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

It had been an hour exactly, I had been keeping track. My heart rate seemed to increase every minute as I gripped onto my wand, acting as if it were the only thing I had left.

As I turned another leafy corner, I heard a loud pained sob.

"Cedric!" a weak voice cried. With my wand out and ready I slowly drew closer to it, and I came to a sudden stop. I saw Allison laying on the ground, a large gash in her side.

Blood was gushing out of her side as silent tears ran down her rosy face.

"Cedric...please." she pleaded. Her face grimaced as she spoke, and she clutched her side, reaching a shaky hand out to me.

I began to rush to her aid, until something stopped me. I saw Cleo standing by her.

"Tsk, tsk, tsk. You see, he doesn't want to help you." Cleo said in a sweet voice.

"He's too busy with me to care." she sneered, kicking Allison in the side.

Allison responded to this with more tears, as she was unable to move.

"Cedric, please don't leave me. Please." she begged, violent gut-wretching sobs leaving her parted bloody lips.

"I won't I promise-" I began, but it was too late. Allison's eyes closed slowly as Cleo towered over her, darkness filling her eyes.

Tears rolled down my face as I pointed my wand at the scene before me.

"You believed what I said about Allison and Blaise. Now you're all mine." she cackled, coming closer to me.

It was a lie. I can't believe it, I'm so stupid!

"Riddikulus!" I shouted, my voice shaky. The boggart disappeared, a loud scream coming from it.

"WHOOSH!"

The maze began to shift again and leafs flew everywhere, clouding my vision as I bolted across the grass. I made it to a clearing and let myself relax. I took several deep breaths and continued walking along forward, paranoid from my last encounter.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

2 hours now, and still no sign of the cup. I let out a frustrated groan as I slicked my fingers through my hair.

I turned right then left, then took another right.

I walked around the large bushy corner and saw Viktor. I caught a glimpse of his face and something was different about him. Something off. He was walking towards a frightened Harry, his wand drawn out.

I saw something shine in the distance, and then a loud zapping noise. Instinctively I went in front of Harry.

"Get down!" I shouted. Harry ducked, dodging the spell.

I ran up to Viktor and kicked the wand out of his hand, sending it flying to the ground. I pointed my wand towards Viktor, about to finish him off, my breathing heavy with rage. Harry stopped me.

"No, stop! He's bewitched, Cedric!" he exclaimed, trying to hold me back from him. I struggled against his grip with my heart racing.

"Get off of me!" I yelled, my generally calm nature completely fading.

"He's bewitched!" he responded.

The glint that I saw earlier began to grow, when I realized what it was.

The Tri-Wizard Cup.

As I ran towards the gleaming blue light, I felt something against my leg.

THUD

All of the air was knocked out of me as I fell to my chest, being dragged across the ground. I frantically looked down to see black vines wrapping around my body, forcing me to the ground. I struggled against the plant groping the grass to try and keep myself stable.

I cried out in frustration and pain, to see Harry looking back at me, not sure whether to help me or get the cup. I was pinned to the ground.

"Harry! HARRY!" I shouted, my voice strained.

He hit the plant with a spell, releasing me from it. I scrambled off the ground and jogged over to Harry.

"You know, for a moment there I though you were gonna let it get me."

"For a moment so did I." he admitted.

"Some game, huh?" I muttered.

"Some game." he replied. A path cleared in front of us, the cup coming into full view.

I need to make Allison proud.
